Hawks game was a LOT closer than it looked on paper (4-1, but 2 empty net goals).

1st Wild Card team will likely face two out of LA, Anaheim or SJ in the first two rounds, then meet up with the Central winner in the conference finals. Not a very easy task, I suggest the Hawks step it up and stay ahad of Nashville, who are looking real good lately.

At the rate the sharks are playing, I wouldn't bank on them doing much. Put together a good 3rd period against the Stars, but one period does not make a game.

Tom - Scheifele is rocking again tonight. Tune in to the Jets game! He has 2 in already - some serious skill on the first!

Oh correction - one is Wheeler's - with Scheifele on the assist!

Saw 'em both, Neil. Glad to see them on the sheet, and since I was playing against Pavelec (sp?) in fantasy playoffs, wasn't that sad to see them lose. ;s

Neither are Jets fans right now - better lottery prospects in the draft!

I think I'll speak for all Flyer fans, we weren't sad to see them lose either. :D

Tom is your squad coasting right now or is there some actual issues going on? I have a feeling we will see a normal Hawks team tonight. Can't let us get the season sweep.

I seriously can't believe the Wild right now. They look like a completely different team for the last month.

Oh and by the way, Duncan Keith should be suspended through the first playoff series for his stick slash to Coyles face. Maybe even the rest of the season to send a message. Second offense of this nature for Keith. Used to think that guy was a helluva player. Lost all respect for him last night.

I agree. It's actually Keith's third offense, Sedin (elbow), Carter (high stick), and now Coyle, each with intent to injure (IMO). And while his taunting of Backes two years ago was obviously not suspension worth, it was tactless and it really effected my opinion of him.

Maybe it's a learned behavior...

On another note, Wings and Bruins both lose! Good news for the Flyers. Hopefully the Caps have a President's Trophy hangover tonight.

Not that I have any skin in the game, but I just saw an article that said Keith was suspended indefinitely.

WWII veteran Len Kropioski (sp?) - made his return to MTS on Tuesday, after a several weeks away. His face is always on the jumbotron saluting the anthems.

Anyway - not in his usual front row seat, but back nonetheless. Kroppy got quite he ovation!

Thankfully he got some punishment. IMO it should have been for the season.
My first thought when I it saw it was of Maki's shot to Ted Green's head in '69. (Ted did take the first swing, thankfully missing.)
He suffered brain damage. This kind of thing has to stop in the game.:2

Hawks - Jets - one heck is of a game tonight. Wheeler and Scheifele still piling on the points for Tom.

OT win for Hawks.

You're welcome Tom.

So was he trying to right himself after a fall, or is that an intentional slash at the face? I think it's hard to know, considering the momentum seems to be trying to turn him right side up. If there was truly any intent there (I sure hope there isn't), then honestly, he should never play again.

Just my 2 cents.....

The heck with Tom he's out smoking balla cigars, I needed that for fantasy even though Darling is killing my save percentage and GA ... at least he got the win. :lr

If anyone that has seen the video thinks he didn't have intent, they'd better go see their optometrist. Personally I think he should have been suspended till the end of the first playoff series. It's the second time he's swung and hit a guy in the face with his stick and third offense total.

I may be biased being a Wild fan, but he should've gotten more and I think he would have if Coyle have gotten more than a cut and black eye.

E.J. 04-02-2016 05:41 PM

Re: NHL '15 - '16 Season Thread

I don't think there is any question there was intent. That said, I'm okay with 6 games. With his history, he now also has multiple offenses with his stick. If he happens into this again, he's in serious trouble.

E.J. 04-02-2016 05:42 PM

Re: NHL '15 - '16 Season Thread

ADD: I think the lack of "serious" damage, for better or worse, had weight on the suspension.

Thankfully Coyle looks just fine from our seats.
Jets waiting to be spoilers....

So far Scheifele continues on his point streak
1-0 at the first intermission

This building is rocking, even if the team is out!

Not going to make it easy for the Wild. I think the Minnesota boys in the team (Wheeler and Buff) really relish this!

Blah blah blah.....my Wild are limping into the playoffs again. This team is ridiculous. Look like a team that could win the cup one week and the next they can't beat an AHL team.

nutcracker 04-04-2016 08:54 AM

Re: NHL '15 - '16 Season Thread

I feel yah there brother - our team has driven us insane with their inconsistency.

Schizo crowd last night - Wheeler absolutely steamrolls Dubnyk behind his net and gets 2 minutes. Crowd furious, because goalie was outside his blue paint - "Refs you suck" chant goes up.

10 Minutes later there is an announcement that linesman Brad Lazarowich is retiring - he gets a standing ovation.

Just weird if you ask me....

Gotta love those zebras.....

Missed it all until yesterday, watched the Hawks get the 6 in a San Diego breakfast bar. missed the Bruins' 4....so I say it never happened.

Minnesota has to get to the conference finals this year to play the Hawks, so Keith's suspension wouldn't have helped then anyway. ;) ;s

Nice little quote from Don Cherry talking about how Rask couldn't stop a beachball. :lr He does know his hockey!

We will be lucky to win a game in the first round the way we look right now.

You're fortunate to play Dallas or St Louis in the first round, Pete, I wouldn't want to travel and face Anaheim or L.A. this early. :2

Flyers looked tired last night. Hopefully they play better this weekend. Still control their own destiny, but I'll be rooting for Ottawa and, for the first time in a very long time, the Rangers tomorrow. A little help never hurt!

Nothing wrong with rooting for a rival if it helps your team. I'll be rooting for the Wild, the Sharks and the Predators in round 1.

Season is on the line and Rask is sitting because he's "sick", sounds like they would rather take their chances with the backup.

It's on here, you aren't missing anything, well other than 4 goalies by the Sens .. they just scored two in about a minute ... they need to get rid of Rask, I can't believe he isn't playing with the season on the line he's a *****.
