Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Picked up a Corona Old Boy lighter today, as well as a new three pipe stand. With my recent pipe purchases, I'm currently two pipes over my spots of stands, so I figured I'd resolve that.
Also grabbed some W.O. Larsen tobaccos. Really like the 2010 edition, I'll see how the 2011 edition matches up. |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
My venture into pipes. Got this from a local pipe shop. Just ordered tins of early morning pipe and nightcap, navy flake, and a cheap pipe lighter. Off I go down another slope possibly. I'm looking to get another pipe this weekend so I can dedicate one to English and one to virginia.

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Today I ordered my first batch of Pipe Tobacco that isn't the cheapest Black Cav around or blends by local stores. A local pipe maker passed a friend of mine a blend of Latakia, Orientals, and Virginians (Butera's Royal Vintage Latakia #2) and I loved it, so I decided to go ahead and get on into good pipe tobacco. About time. The first three of these were suggested to me personally by people on this forum, so thank you.
4 oz of Cornell & Diehl "Haunted Bookshop" 4 oz of Hearth & Home Anniversary Kake 1 Tin of Dunhill Early Morning Pipe 1 Tin of Seattle Pipe Club Seattle Evening Now I will eagerly check the mail every day, waiting with ready pipe for the day that my new Pipe Tobacco arrives. :l |

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Thank you. Have not tried any boswells yet. I Keep looking there every month to try to find a fresh pipe and always miss out. Saw this one on the bay and couldnt pass it up. They do have some great pipes and some of their house blends do not sound half bad.

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Placed an order with the Boswell's earlier today. Ordered the following: Berry Cobbler, Vanilla Cream, Raspberry Cream, and of course Northwoods. While I don't normally smoke aromatics I decided to order some to hopefully please my roommates.

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4142/...4a2948_z_d.jpg a Wilbur B Driver Co never smoked, with the bag, box, ect.. supposed to be from 40's? Not sure about that but still thought it looked good. :) |

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
The local shop to me has a sale every year for the founding father of the brand. He was 98 this year, so all pipes were buy one get one for 98 cents:tu The wife picked these up for me as an early 10 year anniversary present!!

Some nice buys here!
|
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Fissure, love the rustication on the second/lighter colored pipe. Looks awesome! What a great wife!
|
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
The rustication is actually cork. Tom Spanu makes a briar pipe and then attaches cork to it. Was kind of leary about the cork coming loose, but the store owner has been smoking one for years with no issues. Says it smokes very cool in the hand:tu

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Those are awesome Steve!

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
I really like that top one. The second is not for me, but hopefully she smokes well, and gives you many years of enjoyment.

Today, I just bought my first Dunhill from a private seller. It's not brand new, but sure looks like it. It was too good of a deal to pass up.
After years of the slippery slope with cigars, now I am starting down the same slope with pipes. :jd |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
That's a nice looking pipe Jerry. Did the previous owner put in alot of smoking hours with it, or was it lightly used?
|
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Thanks Mark! I appreciate the kind comment.
I was told it had only been lightly used and it certainly appears to be the case. It has been well taken care of. I can't wait to put it to good use. :D |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Hey all, I recently purchased and received a new Winslow 300. I'll post some pics of it tomorrow.
And yes, if you've followed any of my recent posts, I have a problem... |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
After recently being gifted a little pipe tobacco, I picked up the old habit.
I couldn't find my pipe from years ago ( I swear its somewhere in this house...) I picked up a little cheapie cob and then.... I bought these... http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...a/DVC00837.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...a/DVC00836.jpg All three for under $60.00 off of eBay. All unsmoked, new old stock. The top is a unmarked cob with a filter in the stem?? The middle is a Brigham #329, but the web site shows a smooth finish, mine is older?? The bottom is a Missouri Meerschaum. I'll use the cobs at work, that way I won't be too upset if they get screwed up. The Brigham will get burned in as soon as it stops raining... So how did I do?? |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Looking good Darryl:tu
|
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
looking really good! Enjoy them all!
|
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
now all I have to do is sample a bunch of different tobaccos to try and figure out what I like.

A few days late, but here's some of my most recent goodies...
8oz of Penzance... doesn't get much better looking than this! http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...1/DSCN1044.jpg Also, my new Winslow 300 - awfully nice straight grain, if I do say so myself. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...1/DSCN1054.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...1/DSCN1052.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...1/DSCN1053.jpg |

Here are my first two pipes. I found them at an antique store last weekend and they were both $7 so I figured why not. One is a Falcon, and the other is an Amphora Briar...neither of which I know nothing about, but they looked to be in good shape :noon:noon

Bag on right is PS Norwegian. My plans on that is for mixing or by self my next purchases are bulk perique latakia and maybe some bulks from C &D in their blending section. Kinda building back up my stock to play with blending again. am trying to step away from PS or other companies that have that bite . I found it in WO larsens stuff too, makes it hard to blend then gift an old smoker or sensitive smoker. But am at the point where I like companies stuff but want to play . I saw c&d had bulk chopped madurro but after figuring what I want to mix found its already in their Purple Cow. |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
I just inquired and reserved a Castello 'Castello' pipe from Marty Pulvers. Should have it in a couple weeks. Looking forward to adding one to the collection.
