Been hitting the McClelland Holiday Spirit and C&D Autumn Evening.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
I love Autumn Evening. I would love it more if it as in the 60*'s here!
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Thanks for the advice folks. The Kake I have is bulk and pressed in a mostly solid chunk. I've been flaking it out pretty fine. Which sometimes causes the bowl pack to be too tight.
I think next time I will let it dry out a bit and leave in bigger pieces. Thanks again gents. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
yea even the stuff in the tin is kinda coarse. I just leave it that way. If you crumble it too much it will turn to light dust it seems and unusable. at least to me. Might make snuff then! yuk.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
MacBaren Scottish Mixture. Very surprised at how good this one was.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Following the UCLA victory this evening over BYU, I decided to head out to the patio and enjoyed a bowl of MATCH Walnut in the meerschaum. Nice stuff:pi

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Enjoyed some Nightcap last night, just what the doctor ordered.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Peterson University Flake, I'm not sure what happened. This bowl would not say lit and there was a ton of tar left in the bottom. Odd. Maybe the tobacco was too wet?
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
sounds like wet to me. give it an overnight in the fridge

Re: Whats in your bowl?
I have done either way. I would loosen the tin top or just put the baggie in. The baggies seem to breath. It does dry the tobac pretty quickly so check it daily.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
I had some spectre while watering the grass. It was quite enjoyable and had a unique flavor I had not come across yet. I guess it mostly has to do with this being about bowl number 9 for me. :-)
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Escudo in a beat down, sad looking cob this morning.
Rich, Peterson Flakes definitely need a little air time. Also, if you are limited on time, just be sure to fully rub the flake out as it's pretty solid. The stringier you get it, the easier it lights. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Some Dunhill Early Morning Pipe from 2010 this morning:pi

Good little work horse that it is. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Autumn Evening in an old cob. The temp was cool all day in the low 70's! What a treat that was. Tomorrow should be low 80's and just as awesome. Ahhh!

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Scotty's Butternut Burley earlier this morning...
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Fired up a bowl of Aniversary Kake to celebrate my new job. This stuff never fails to impress me. I could probably smoke this and only this for life and be a happy camper.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Finally popped my pipe cherry...While apple picking with the family, I enjoyed some Prince Albert in a MM cob. No issues packing, lighting, or smoking. (after plenty of research in the Asylum) I really liked the finish. I kept tasting the flavor long after smoking 2 bowls.
Can't wait to try more pipe/tobacco combinations. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Macbaren Scottish and LNF. It's a tie.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Nice to see you picking up the pipe Patrick.
Dunhill flake in a Mizzou cob this morning. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Nice and cool this morning for a change. Autumn evening in a wooden cob was nice. Low 70's is always nice even if not for very long.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Solani Tropical mango Flake in a MM small wooden cob. Temp is in the high 60's and is awesome! 1 hr of excellent smoke flavor.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Kramer's Father Demsey tonight.
I find myself gravitating towards my pipe more and more now that we've moved to a new apartment without a deck. I guess it's just less inviting to sit on a concrete step for an hour to enjoy a good cigar. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Capstan Blue on the way to work.

|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Autumn Evening at 11am this morning with a cool 79* temp and light breeze. It was delightful. Smoked in a large MM cob (diplomat)
Tonight is Mac Baren's Scottish Blend in a BC Calabash with an icy cold Sam Adams Cherry Wheat in hopefully even cooler weather! |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
I scored a well aged tin of Firedance at the B&M I work at. Bloom galore but a bit on the dry side (For an SG flake it must have been sitting for quite some time). Nice flavors for an aromatic, not too overwhelming. I may try to get a bit of moisture back into a flake or two to see how it goes.
Bill, your planned menu for this evening sounds like a great combination. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Pulled out the Mason jar of H&H Anniversary Kake this evening and packed a bowl. Sooooooooo tasty:dr

Re: Whats in your bowl?
