Pretty sweet brother...dont know if I would have the ability to sit through all that!! How many sessions has it been to get to this point???

Re: Tattoos?

This has been about 5 sittings (I lost count) each about 3 hours long. That's about all I'm good for on the back at one time. I'm thinking one more good session and it should be done. Then I need to figure out what's next. :D

I can't decide if I want something on my back or not, I like to look at my tats and enjoy them, can't do that with a back piece, but your's is badass!

It's funny you say that, as I hadn't given it much thought until after I started getting it. Too late to turn back at that point. :D

I already told my artist that once this one is complete, we're finishing the sleeve down to the wrist. I guess I'll have to get used to wearing long sleeved shirts at work.

Yeah I haven't made that commitment yet, the summers here are BRUTAL and I'm a big boy, so I keep telling myself when I retire is when I will get the full sleeve.

That's pretty bad ass Jesse. How bad was the inside of the bicep?

Poronico 02-09-2012 11:05 AM

Re: Tattoos?

Honestly I am a really bad judge for pain when it comes to tattoos... I fall asleep through most of my sessions. My worst area it the outside of my forearm which makes no sense at all anatomically but its the only place where I even thought "ouch". I have another 3/4 sleeve on the right arm and its the same story, even the elbows are fully colored in and it was nothing compared to the outside of the forearm.

My artist is super light handed which helps. His art is pretty amazing and extremely affordable. This back piece is on a buddy of mine and was done for 1,800. I got both of my sleeves, one Black and Grey the other is Full Color for 1,600.

We have about 5 more sessions to go to finish the whole arm and put the final touches on the black and grey piece then both of these are headed for the magazines.

I have to post pics of mine later. So far have a rib piece of Tenniel's Cheshire cat in the tree from Alice in Wonderland, and a calf tattoo of a lotus in between waves. Eventually the later will continue into a full leg sleeve

Those are some really nice peices Trace63. My buddy Daniel Jones has done some guest spots up at Off the Map and got a sleeve done by Nick Baxter (I dont know if he works there anymore though) and we know Nate Beavers pretty well. My wife and buddy own a shop here in Roanoke VA so I try to keep up on all the tattoo biz news. Heres a few shots from my (in progress) right arm sleeve. These pics were taken at different times so....

And this is new ink I just got today..had a smaller portrait of Jesus from the Passion of the Christ DVD cover, I had a local guy re-do it and put his unique take on it, it's even bigger than it looks, it goes up my shoulder and onto my back:

That's what I thought. Doesn't look like a "chick" kind of tattoo either.

Where are you getting it at on your body?

I'm too lazy to upload pictures of the start of my sleeve. My Wife and I are both getting a half-sleeve (Her), and a full sleeve (Me).

BHalbrooks 09-03-2012 11:30 AM

Re: Tattoos?

Start of my sleeve. This is only the forearm portion, after 5 hours of work. Lot of details involved. On the 14th I start work on the top half.
My Wife is also getting a half sleeve from the same artist (Matt Myrdal) with Pino Bros in Cambridge, MA. More pics to come. Probably about 3 more 8 hour sessions.

Yea. I have probably 24-25 more hours worth of Work ahead of me. You save a lot by doing 8 hour sessions. I get a flat rate instead of getting charged $150 an hour.
