Some of the talking heads on NHL Network have picked them. Think Weeks did the other night also. To me this is a better team then the team that won the west a few years ago. In watching them the addition on Burns Havlat Handzus have been upgrades for sure. Colin White is the only addition that is questionable at this point. I think this is a better team then last years team and I know your getting up there in age and the mind starts going, but San Jose finished 2nd last year. They got better and I don't think the Canucks did. Head down moment ....Not sure if you confused the Sharks with the Hawks who snuck in last year because the Wild beat the Stars :r, but the Sharks are to me a top 3 team with a good chance of winning the west. Just don't think a jump from second to first is laughable giving what they added.

Hawks lost Seabrook last night to a "lower body" injury, hopefully short term.

Hawks are #1 in ESPN.com's NHL Power Rankings. :D

Julien has turned this kid lose I think he will pot 40?

Suprised lucic didn't get anything for running into Miller. It's a fine line, but he made no effort to avoid and even got his elbows up.

If someone ran Thomas like that I imagine some people would be calling for someone's head. With Bostons head injury history seems funny. Glad Miller didn't end up with a concussion. Was suprised Lucic did that.

Edit: sitting on back porch having a cigar watching the jets lightninng replay. Bigbuf is still the stuff.

If Lucic wanted to really run Miller he would have knocked him into tomorrow.

Arms were in, shoulder to shoulder hit no head shot, yes his mask came off but his head did not hit the ice.
He didn't get hurt on that play?

Miller hasn't been playing well and just looking for an excuse? He stayed in the game until he was pulled because he was getting shelled.

Concussed players don't keep their team sitting on the bus waiting while you run your mouth to the media.
The B's head to Buffalo next week for a rematch should be an interesting game?

I think it will be a clean well played game, but the Bruins have more then enough dance partners if the Sabers want to go that way?

Bush league play by Lucic. It's a polarizing hit for sure. Bruin fans say Lucic had no choice and didn't mean to bury Miller, as a Sabre fan, no way can I buy that. Lucic is no lumbering goon, he is a skilled player and can stop on a dime. Shoulder to shoulder hit is fine on a defenseman, not on a goalie. With that line of thinking, what happens if Kaleta goes shoulder to shoulder on Thomas.... it's clean?

If a goalie wants to play that far out of the net be prepared, it maters not who the net minder is, Thomas, Miller. It's Hockey.
Apparently the NHL office didn't think it was a big deal, Lucic got his two minutes worth.

Did he run him, yes, did he have the intent to concuss him probably not.

Going to be interesting to see the precedence this sets moving forward with Shanahammer and his "justice" system. On one hand he suspends someone for a reckless play that had no intent (Bouchard high stick) and then chooses no further discipline on an incident like Lucic running Miller. The NHL justice system has always been subjective, but this might really turn ugly.

By the way I knew my post would start a discussion as I always say I love to stir the pot.

I think the main point here was it was bush. To pull the he's out of the crease card John did is crap. He has the gear his mobility is reduced and the code is you don't run goalies. That's been the code forever. When you break the code its bush, it doesn't matter if its your team, its a chicken $hit move. Goalies including Thomas play the puck even more aggressively then that. The difference is players make an effort to do the right thing.

Given Bostons history with concussed players its suprising they do this. I lol at johns if they want to fight about it we can do that line. Basically we went bush move and so what do something about it and we will fight you. Awesome :r

As has been shown in this thread people can be hypocrites when the shoe is on the other foot. Hate to say it, but kind of hope something happens so we can see the outrage from some. Let's try to look at it from a non homer perspective.

Total dive by Kronwall. His face wasn't even lying on the ice or nothing! I think I even saw him looking around for a ref while he was totally faking it on the ice.

Anyone hear if there was a suspension yet? Hearing was today.

(EDIT) N/M here is Shanny with the verdict:

3 Games

Toms right mike. He's just skating hard/ finishing his check/ playing hard nose hockey. Kronwall is such a Nancy. He finished the game also, so there is no way he was hurt. I mean clearly Sidney who finished his game and played after his dirty hit has been faking his injury all this time. Err or hockey players often play through injuries and lie about symptoms. He may very well have a concussio or a neck injury develop.

In all seriousness I watched the game last night using NHL GCL and my media center pc (which really kicks ass I will add). Now granted I was only watching because I saw the Wings lost, but I watched that hit multiple times and he intended it. If you watch the replay he chased him down. The push had bad intentions and Kronwall could have been injured or even worse. That type of hit has no place in the game. If Kronwall had been injured it would be more then 3. Even the Blues broadcasters and mike methenie(sp) new Cardinals manager who was doing a guest spot said it was a bad deal. His kids play and he was saying its every parents worst nightmare and I would largely agree.

With all that he's fine so I am guessing Selane was not sad about that hit. He did sell it also, but hey that was a bush hit so why not. It deserved 5 and a game.

Detroit looked good in the 1st and Niemi saved the Sharks butts. Sharks paced themselves and totally dominated the 2nd and into the third.
Great game for Niemi and Valssic. 5 different goal scorers.

Nah I think ill just bag you for being a homer and over reacting all the time calling for trades when they drop a couple. Last year multiple times you called for firing the coach and making trades. Hell you already did it this year. Good thing the people running the show there understand hockey or Boston wouldn't be celebrating the cup or on a 7 game win streak. :r.

Guess a lot of us here and NHL Players and analysts should be watching figure skating.

Bruins Fan 11-18-2011 06:57 PM

Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread

Absolutely I wanted the coach fired. Julien was just to stubborn and was to much a players coach, example Dennis Wideman skating every shift with zero production, not willing to shake up the lines, the power play was non existent the trade for Kaberle made it worse, as long as you skated your lanes you played.
That all changed when Cam Neely took over, the coach and GM were a heart beat from being fired?
Cam told them to start playing Bruin Hockey or else.

This year Julien is doing a great job coaching, calling out players when needed, sitting them down when they screw up, he's not looking over his shoulder, he's smiling and non combative in his interviews.

The talking heads don't know what they don't know
and if they do know they won't say anything negatived. the only ones that tell it like it is are the local guys that cover the team.

The B's need another goal scoring winger, there are a few guys on the roster that can be moved, I think there will be a big trade by the deadline not before.

That's my :2

Hawks took the worst beating I have seen them take in the last decade from the youngsters of Edmonton. Emery looked awful but the D certainly didn't help. I don't even know what to say right now, except they better come to play on the West Coast this week.

Ahbroody 11-20-2011 12:53 PM

Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread

You can hang a.couple on Emery, but the D was ugly now.for the second game in a row. I am wondering if Keith will get a game for hitting Hall into the boards from behind also. I doubt it, and I know he was sorry after, but he has not had a good week and that was a dangerous hit. Crawford gave up 2 on 7 sog as well. I think it was more the D last night. They often looked paralyzed by Edmontons speed, hell even Edmontons 3rd line looked amazing. They were playing really well, sure its just a stumble. I do hope the Sharks put the boot to them though.
