well, the good news is that it easier to post this from the site than downloading it from the computer to post.

Still challenged with having them come up as thumbnails.

It most likely is a jailbroken phone Steve, but I could be wrong.

Can anyone tell me how come my pictures are posted as thumbnails while others show up in full size?

The other question that I had is how to I post directly from a place like flickr. I tried the post from url function and it didn't work.

I'm not sure if you can get a direct link to the image on flickr, but if you can...
1) Copy the direct link to clipboard (example. http://www.flickr.com/blahbalh/blahblah/linky/img.jpg )

2) In your post put, [ img ]pasteUrlHere[ /img ] without the spaces between the []'s and img.

3) Your done:)

If you can't get a direct link with flickr, choose a different host for the pictures.
Hope that helps
-John

You are correct Huy! Notice the AT&T logo is gone as well and in place are my initials. Also got rid of the battery bar:tu

what does "Jailbroken" mean?

Re: Cigar Photography

Maverickdrinker... please see my post as that tells you how to do it step by step.

this is what your url looks like: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2694/...74da2a88_b.jpg

so, click your image, select "all sizes" from the list of options at the top, and grab the url at the bottom of the page(below the one that gives you links... one will have a tone of text, one will just have the link I posted above
then put on the other.

it'll look like this:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2694/...74da2a88_b.jpg

Also google blackra1n for more info on jailbreaking. It is the quickest and easiest way to do it.

Not bad, but I would use a low flash setting (if you have a flash that is adjustable) to add some "fill light" and get rid of the shadow.

Shadows are not always the enemy.
In this shot, I think his light box did an awesome job of illumination while creating some emphasis with the slight shadow cast by the cigar coffin.
I think it looks striking to see the slight shadow on the front, showing you backlit more, than the conventional shadow to the back when front lighting. It looks more to me as a mirror reflection than a shadow.
Nice job indeed with this photo.

Namerifrats 01-04-2010 10:33 AM

Re: Cigar Photography

True, if thats the affect the photographer is going for. Alot of advertisements for products will usually not show any shadowing. Leaving the appearance of the object "floating" I guess you could say. They do this because the don't want anything causing a distraction or taking somebody's eyes off the product, including shadows. I wasn't sure if he was going for that affect or not, but alot of people that use a light box try for that look.

troutbreath 01-04-2010 01:39 PM

Re: Cigar Photography

Actually, if you are referring to the "shadow" in the front, it is actually a reflection. I had a 16 x 20 pane of glass in the bottom of the light box.

That's what I thought.
It in fact looks like a reflection as I stated earlier.
Gives it a three dimensional feel.

No problem! I thought those turned out nice. Gurkha's get a bad rap on this board sometimes, but look at those wrappers . . . those are about 2 years old, and look pretty tasty to me.

And, being box-pressed, they don't roll around while you are trying to pose them!
