I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT. THis makes sure the dead are dead...forever!
:banger |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
no doubt but you can carry more .22wmr than .223 or .308
|
Re: First Firearm Thread.
But you will need more 22s than 223 :)
|
Re: First Firearm Thread.
nooo. a 22wmr to the head is good to go. Only way to kill a zombie anyway. Better take a nice big machete too :tu

Re: First Firearm Thread.
It's been a while since I added anything to the collection. I thought I pretty much had everything I wanted. But ever since I played with one of these at a show, it's been in the back of my mind. I finally decided it was time to do something about it.
People either seem to love them or hate them. So far, color me in the love camp. :D For anyone who hasn't seen one, it's a .410 / .45 Colt / .45 acp. Scandium frame with a SS cylinder. I have plenty of .45, but no .410 other than a few I picked up with the gun. So I have a bunch on order. Once it comes in, it'll be time for a trip to the local desert shooting area. http://i996.photobucket.com/albums/a...lmeier/Guv.jpg |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Had a trigger job done on Leighs 38. I cant believe the difference. Changed the main spring out from an 11lb pull to a 9 and put in a 6.5lb return spring. Had some polishing and cleaning done. Cant wait to take it to the range and test it.

Wife put her foot down and firmly threatened to kill me if I spent more than $1,000 on an AR.
Picked up the Smith and Wesson M&P15 from Bud's and shot it this weekend. What a fun toy. I thought I loved guns. Everyone should have an AR. Will try to post photo. |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Picked up three extra Magpuls with windows/counter 30 rounds and a couple of 20 rounds.
Fired 150 rounds yesterday and had some fun cleaning and lubbing it. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Very nice! What are your plans for add ons?
|
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Same AR I have, did the mags fit out of the package or did you have to alter them? I bought mine 3 years ago or so and none of the mags would fit out of the box. I had to take a metal file to each one and remove a significant amount of plastic before they would snap in nicely.

Used all of them yesterday flawlessly. I had read about issues after ordered them and was worried but all is fine. |

Wife is totally blindsided. I kept my commitment. Just never told her of future plans. Wish list: Midwest/Yankee Hill or Troy Quad Rail (thinking of nine inch or so). Laser Grip with bipod Scope - God only knows how many mortgage payments I will miss thanks to that. Remove handle and add folding sights (Troy/Diamondhead, whatever :D) Light, of course. I am seriously going to die at wife's hands. |

I would say it is like the fun of shooting my .380, 9 mm and .45, all at once. Unreal how powerful, load yet minimal recoil. Picked up 500 rounds over the weekend. 350 to go.:D |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
I was made an excellent offer on this forum that I wish I could have jumped on but this purchase allowed me to meet budget and I got six months same as cash to boot.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

FWIW Pmags are preferred by alot of the .mil guys overseas. |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Sweet gun! I love it. On my list. I have a Colt Special Combat that I love now, but that Dan Wesson is beautiful!!! Thanks for showing. Steve

A must have on my wish list. While I would love a Colt, I kind of like the Ruger for the price, if you can find it. Someday. Sooner than my wife would like .:D |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Illinois is getting close to passing HB148, concealed carry, although I think it will be another year or two before it actually passes. Last try I think we were 2 or 3 votes from getting super majority, which is needed in Illinois because our Governor said he will veto the bill if if comes across his desk.. his pockets are lined from the Chicago machine.. Anyways, if it passes sooner, then I'm thinking of waiting longer on getting an AR15. I'll get two glocks in the fall and wait to get an AR later next year. Either way, I'm still hunting around for guns I want:r

Re: First Firearm Thread.
wow.... never thought I'd see the day IL got close to a concealed carry... Who wants to bet it will still be illegal inside of Chicago? :/

For the guys that have Glocks, what lights are you using on your pistols and why? I'm looking for a light that will fill up a room as much as possible.

One of the best bangs for the buck, right around $100 or so. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
I agree with the above, I own a few surefire and streamlights and agree that the streamlight is the best bang for the buck. But I do prefer the activation options ont he surefire x300's a whole lot more.
The surefire can be activated by pushing on the lever for a momentary flash while the the streamlight you need to depress the lever for a momentary flash. It all comes down with what you are willing to train with. Just remember with lights brighter isn't always better. You can end up blinding yourself too, especially if your very light sensitive. I think the current x300's can be found for under 200 now |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
ALSO bear in mind in the hunt for ever higher lumens ratings that you need 4x the lumens to percieve 2x the increase. So practically speaking, if you have a choice between 160 lumens and 190 lumens for example, don't pick it based on the lumens, the perceptible increase is arguably negligible.
