I really need to get back to my Proust, as I'm still The Captive of another interminable Parisian party, and have been for too long.

Re: What are you reading?

"The Nuns of Sant'Ambrogio: The True Story of a Convent in Scandal" by Hubert Wolf.

A non-fiction account of murder, heresy, and lesbian initiation rites at a Roman convent in the mid 1800s. The book is built on evidence found in recently opened archives of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (inquisition) at the Vatican. Wolf covers the histirical, political, and sectarian factors that affected the investigation and the decision to keep the story secret..
Well written and compelling read I liked it.

Victor88 suggested the Newsflesh series.
I read the first book, then 80% of the second book. That's all I could take.
I haven't picked up a book since I set that second one down. Yup, that disgusted. :D

Just started "The Park Service Trilogy" A very interesting post apocalyptic setting. First book was good and I really have no idea where it is heading in the next two books.

A bit off topic, but how many of you have an e-reader? I picked up a kindle paperwhite a few years ago when it came out. I had been waiting for one with a light to come out since the first kindle. It quickly became my favorite thing.

I've used an e-reader for years.
I started with a 2nd generation Kindle. I now own and use a Paperwhite and love it.
I may be looking to dispose of my original Kindle for a few cigars.

I have a huge e-book library if anyone is looking for stuff to read. Mostly fiction.

Theology and cigars, excellent. Add a finger or two of scotch and we might really get somewhere.

Yes, Sir. Number 18.
This past Christmas, I had only read through number 9. My son gave me a signed copy of Personal - number 19 in the series. I wanted to read them in order so I have been reading Lee Child since then.

Now you've only got 10 million pages spread over three books to go. :D
If you're continuing on with the series, a LOT of interesting things happen in A Storm of Swords.

A Storm of Swords is a much better read than ACoK -- ACoK is one of the most difficult books that I have ever read.

Frank, I think the books I've read in the series can be summed up as a post-apocalyptic zombie read for teenage girls.
Maybe not that bad, but super close.
Great idea for a storyline, but it's written by a woman and just sounds like it is in my head when I'm reading it. A woman in her very early 20's. I just want to stuff a pair of socks in her mouth and send her home.
I STILL haven't finished that second book. But as God is my witness, I will.
I'm at 90+% now.
Then I don't know what I'll read.
Probably get away from sci-fi for a bit and read some history. Ken Burns, I'm thinking.
Or more Zombies if there's any out there worth reading. :D

I read through NYPD Red 1,2 and 3.

I also started reading through the Fate of the Jedi Series. I have currently read Outcast, Omen, Abyss, and Backlash. Five more books in this series that I will sprinkle in throughout the year.

I have Anathem, just haven't gotten to it yet. I was thinking William Gibson wrote it, and I wasn't crazy about Neuromancer, so I've kind of stayed away.
I went and read the plot, a longer one a wikipedia. Sounds awesome. :tu

That wouldn't be practical, Scott. While there is significant overlap (duplicates), I have ~40,000 titles. Mostly fiction.

If you give me a genre you like and/or authors, I can tell you what books, if any, I have.

Peter, by any chance do you have anything by David McCullough?

I'm most interested in Truman, The Great Bridge, And The Path Between the Seas.
I have, and read 1776 and John Adams already.
Thanks in advance.

Sci-fi, Peter. Iain Banks, John Scalzi, the list goes on. But I have most all of the stuff that I'd chase. I'm hoping you have something I don't.

Good history, too. Ken burns stuff and anything well written and unslanted.

I'm currently reading Surface Detail, it's Culture Series Book 9 by Iain Banks. I skipped book 8, I'll read it next. Then 10 is the last one and I'm going to be sad. What a fantastic series across the board.

Peter, I'm gonna grab a Paperwhite. I'm hoping they go on sale on Prime Day, if not I'll just order it after. I'm pretty excited about it. Weeze is, too.
I just found out we can share our amazon book accounts, so we can both sync our books without signing in and out and making problems. :tu

I got done with Surface Detail, then finished Matter, and now I'm about 60% of the way through Hydrogen Sonata.
That'll be the end of the Culture Series by Iain Banks. I'll be a sad panda.

On Prime Day I bought Kindle Unlimited, so I'll be rooting through all that stuff to find nuggets for the next year. I hope it was worthwhile, it looks like it is.
