Re: iphone 4 just announced.
Guys I need some free WiFi on my iPhone. I stupidly upgraded to 4.3.2. I am assuming nothing is out yet for a jailbreak.
How would I go about creating my own hotspot anyways? I have a 3GS iPhone. Also this would be to connect a iPad 1. |

Re: iphone 4 just announced.
Not sure Carlos but apparently there is a 4.3.2 redsn0w jailbreak out already. I just can't figure out how to get the free WiFi

1. Turn on Bluetooth on both your iPad and iPhone. 2. Turn on Personal Hotspot on the iPhone. 3. iPhone should appear in the list of unpaired devices on iPad, pair to the iPhone. Once paired a blue bar will appear at the top of the iPhone's screen to indicate you're sharing the connection. You can only share the connection if the iPhone is using 3G data, if it's connected to a wifi hotspot of it's own no data will transfer (which makes sense since you would just connect the iPad to wifi in that case). Obviously there's also a hit on battery life, especially on the iPhone, tethering via Bluetooth but it actually works very well. |
Re: iphone 4 just announced.
Very cool Geoff, but why hasn't ATT caught onto this already. Seems like an easy way to bypass paying for the service
|
Re: iphone 4 just announced.
If I'm not mistaken, AT&T charges you $20/month extra to go that route.
You forfeit the unlimited data option (if you have it) as well I believe. |
Re: iphone 4 just announced.
Whoa! No thanks on that one. So basically there is no "free" personal hotspot option?

Re: iphone 4 just announced.
rogers has unlimited data for plans with over 1gb of data, our local company MTS is selling plans with 250gb of tethering - even with their unlimited data plan. It doesn't matter for some people who will never use tethering tho

Re: iphone 4 just announced.
I decided to NOT get caught up in alh the hype and anticipation for the Iphone5 and upgraded to the 4 yesterday.
Coming from the original 3G, the leap is monumental, so I doubt I will get too much upgrade fever when the new one is released. I am blown away by how much better everything runs on this than my 3G, which I got $100 bucks for yesterday. |
