I go old school crazy with a rusty kitchen knife and rubbing alcohol.

He braids it. When I shave I use a Gillette Sensor and Williams Shaving Soap in a mug and applied with a brush. Now that winter is coming, I will shave my neck about once a week and just use an electric beard trimmer when needed.
