The Third Science Fiction Megapack: 26 Modern and Classic Science Fiction Tales [Kindle Edition]
I love short stories and these Megapacks are great -- especially at 99 cents for nearly 600 pages. |

Then I picked up Old Man's War by John Scalzi. You'd love it. I flew right through and and I'm tearing through Ghost Brigades, which is the next installment. I thought I liked Heinlein, then I really liked Neal Stephenson, then Hugh Howey, but Scalzi I really enjoy. Light humor, moves along, great imagination, the stories never stall for a second. It's gonna take me awhile to get through all his books, but I'm very much looking forward to it!!! |

But I had a gauntlet thrown down that has side tracked me. I was scoffed at for having not read the harry potter books. Followed by "You just wouldn't get it" (sarcastically, of course). So now I'm reading it and giving them a 20 minute play-by-play every day of what I read the night before. I ALWAYS get the last laugh :D |
Re: What are you reading?
I like Scalzi as well and have read several of his kindle books. Lots more to go :)

Re: What are you reading?
I finished Agent To The Stars - John Scalzi a little while back. It was fun. Scalzi really does a great job, unfortunately I'm running out of books he's authored.
I switched gears and I'm force-feeding myself Uncle Tom's Cabin - Harriet Beecher Stowe. I've been trying to get around to it for months. It's slow going, but I'll get it in me eventually. I kinda switched back to movies for a little bit. |
Re: What are you reading?
Storm of Swords - George R.R. Martin. Third book in the Song of Ice and Fire series. Basically the Game of Thrones series. Really good stuff.

I have to say I was surprised at how good this book was. I could not put it down. The writing had a nice blend of technical details, plot, story and humor. I highly recommend it! |

Re: What are you reading?
The Remnant by William Giles. It's a apocolyptic fiction novel that had me hooked in the first chapter. Written by a local author and professionally printed by our company, one of the best independently published books I've seen. It is available on Amazon as an ebook or the author will sell direct.

The sequel to Wired is Amped, looks like I'll read that. Right before The Martian I read Diamond Age - Neal Stephenson. Loved it. If you haven't read Snow Crash, you should check out the sample. Great book. I wish he wrote more sci-fi, but he only has one other title in that genre and it sounds sucky. |

Re: What are you reading?
The Human Division -John Scalzi is done now, Michael. It was one of those "chapter a week for $.99 each" deals they do. I'm pretty certain it's based on the Old Man's War series, which was EXCELLENT.
It's ready on the 14th of May, all collated into one book for $12.99. Here's a link so you can check it out. http://www.amazon.com/The-Human-Divi...I2FG3OMUVD0EU8 Here's a link to Scalzi's page at Amazon... http://www.amazon.com/John-Scalzi/e/...751&sr=1-2-ent (Sorry for not hyper linking. It's hell on my iPad.) |

Re: What are you reading?
Just finished an oldie but a goodie: Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I've picked it up and read a little bit of it several times over the past decade, but never committed to reading it from cover to cover. What an amazing read, and very thought provoking. But, not an easy book to read. Anyone else who's read it will understand why...
