I just finished the graphic novel "Maus" by art speigleman, which was a fantastically haunting story which I imagine was quite difficult for Mr. Speigleman to write. I also recently read "The Great Gatsby." It took me far too long to actually read that book, but now that I have, I love it

I'm currently reading Beyond Tantra: Healing Through Taoist Sacred Sex. This seems like a really basic set and setting and couples communication book. So far (about halfway through) I haven't encountered much in the way of actual meditative practice. Hopefully there will be some deeper information further in the book.

Just finished - "By Order of The President" by W.E.B. Griffin. It's the first book in a series called "The Presidential Agent."
If any of you are Griffin fans, readers of his older series; Brotherhood of War, The Corps, Badge of Honor - then his newer series' where his son is doing more of the writing are disappointments,

Now reading "First Team" by Larry Bond. It's OK.

"The Swerve, How the World Became Modern" by Stephen Greenblatt
Describes the "discovery" in the 1500s of ancient pagan roman and greek texts - and specifically the rational humanist philosophy - and how those texts and that philosophy influenced the renaissance.

Currently reading The Wire in the Blood by Val McDermid, one of my favorite mystery writers. It seems to me that the best mystery authors for the past 10 years are female and British. Probably just my perception but who knows.

LOL sounds as exciting as "Introducing Windows Server 2012 (RTM Edition)" which is my current assignment. If I see the words "cloud computing" one more time I may hurl the thing right through the window.

I'm 10 books deep into the Robert Jordan series Wheel of Time. This is my second time through this series, and last time I stopped at book 10. It is such a long, boring book. Pushing my way through this one so I can get through tot he ending.

You will have a little wait -- the last book is scheduled to be available on January 8, 2013.

I am planning to reread the entire series after I have the final book. I lost count of how many times I have reread the series...

The Necronaut: Michael R. Pilinski
Not a great book. I'm very tempted to do an edit and send it back to the author/publisher. The story line is actually kinda cool. The language feels like a smarter than average 10th grader wrote it with the Thesaurus right next to him...."Lets see how many big words I can put in here". With an edit and some tightening up, this could be a decent book.

Lee Child does a pretty good job of keeping a story moving along. Some authors will get bogged down and then not know how to work their way out of the "bog"...

The best thing for me is that these books are not deep (don't require a lot of extra thought) and are very entertaining -- makes it easy to put down and pick up again (convenient for reading in whatever timeslots I have available). Good Escape reading :D
