Touching up a brushed finish is quite easy. There's a tool that looks like a pencil eraser that fixes the brused finish.

When a watch has a mix of polish and brushing you have to be careful.

That is the pain in the rear with my Concord Saratoga.
It has both polished and brushed on the stainless part.
The 18 Kt is all polished.
It is an awesome and comfortable watch but I rarely wear it.

Here is what that one looks like:

My secret is simple (I think). My friend that use to work for Rolex told me from the moment I got it to make sure it fit snug on my wrist, that it didn't sit loose with any play.
I have worn it that way ever since and I guess it must work well indeed.
BTW, that drove me nuts to get use to as I hated a anything tight on my wrist.
Eventually, I got over it.

Hey thanks for the tip :tu. I wear mine loose on my wrist, I think I will take it in and have them take a link out. I have the same issue, I hate tight things on my wrist; reminds me of handcuffs...but that's another story.

Handcuffs are not fun.:r

I think the concept works of tight around the wrist because if you think about it, if it is loose and gets stretched by your wrist constantly as you use it, eventually, it loosens the links.
By sitting tight on the wrist, that minimizes the chances of that stretching.
As to the tight feel, doesn't have to choke you. Just don't have it with any play on it that allows it to drop. After a while, you get use to it.

BTW,
Same with my wife's. Looks like new.

I think Rolex use hollow links (on some models) to make it feel super light, or they are not using pins through the links.

Does this happen with all their bracelets or just the Jubilee type?

ALL.

You should see some of the Presidential gold bracelets I have seen.
A total worn down mess.
With the gold it is much worse than with stainless.

There's a lesson to be learned here Colin.

You may or may not be an a$$, based on the validity of your story of ownership of a watch (or car, fish, shoes, etc.).

Picture or not, dated newspaper, signature (yada yada) there is no way to absolutely prove ownership to those who wish not to believe and have their own agendas\issues - and prove their own a$$-ness.

Wear the watch in pride of having earned it - not in what it will represent to others.

Rolex is not a heavy watch, especially the band. The case is average weight for its size which in not that big compared to other chrono's like Baume Mercier or Breitling.

Oh, I know. If you look at his bezel and the bezel from the Daytona on Rolex's website, you're going to notice quite a few differences. :2

I was looking at Daytonas the other day at jewlery store I happen to walk in. It looks like there are several faces and maybe a couple of bezels? Can't say for sure on the bezel, but ther are different dials for sure.

Yeah their are face variations, but their don't seem to be any bezel variations, at least not what I have seen. :2

I have assembled a small collection of Quotes from Colin the $12,000 Rolex Daytona, in addition to several thousand $ in other mentioned watches he owned already, High School Student Buyer who does not own a camera, oh I mean has a camera but battery is charging on a shi...y camera:

I loved the Diesel I had, just can't afford a box. :/

I don't have the unlimited cigar fund going.. I am a student, so finding the least expensive, good sticks is my priority.

Know anywhere I can get Opus X singles?

I am a high school student, so I know how you feel!

I am sorry, please explain, and I will try to clear it up for you.
Never mind. I just looked up the single Opus X and saw the price.. I didn't know that they were that expensive!!!' I am guessing that is what was confusing everyone..

Since I throw pocket change and singles and fives into a jar on top of my dresser every night, that will become my new cigar fund.

Just the change I accumulate from the gas station, convenience store, vending machines, wal mart/target. Stuff like that.

I also have a few Omegas, tag heurs, and other assorted watches.

I wish my camera would charge faster so I could take some pictures

My dad and I split the cost as I have made a 3.5+ for my entire high school career so far

Once Again: B.S. is what I hear and everyone else is welcome to make their own decision.

Just for information purposes, there are different bezels for different Daytona models. The bezel is based on the year of the release and sometimes even on the model itself (gold, presidential, etc).

I've been into Rolex for a while now. Really like the Daytona as well. The SS Daytonas are tough to find, at least they used to be. Also like the look of the 50th anniversary Sub. Some nice new models over the last few years, like the new GMT with ceramic dial.

One of the best new one's along with Yachtmaster II which is quite a compelling watch from Rolex and probably the only one I would put on my "want list".

I have a seiko. I paid 280, I thought that was much too steep for a watch. I found it online later that week for 180. I know I'll never exceed 200 again for a watch. There's just no need.

well being a kid, although old enough to probably have over 50yds range on his 7 iron, I would believe it except for the fact that he would not hit his drive 50yds out on a par 4 if that were the case. Also why would you use a higher loft club if you were right under a tree?

Simple, he said he was under a branch....you will not be hitting anything straight above your head so using a higher iron isn't an issue. Also, he said he meant his 9 iron so bringing this up is useless.

well there are many ways to be under a tree and not hit it 90* in the air and still clip a tree.... and if you are 50yds out trying to drop it on the green, you generally get a pretty decent amount of air under your ball, hence the worry of hitting a tree.

Not to mention, you wouldn't use a 7 iron to make that shot, unless you only hit a 7 iron 50 yds.... and if he drove it to within 50yds of the green on a par 4, chances are he can hit a 7 iron more than that distance.

but I digress, and am going to try like hell to let this thread die haha

Re: Rolex Owners?..

As a Rolex owner, if I said it was the looks that attracted me, it would be akin to saying I am going blind, although classic beauty appeals to me.

If I said I had a clue how the insides worked, I'd be a liar.

I brush it lightly with a toothbrush and mild detergent when it's dirty and get pissed when I have to reset it after 2 days off and it stopped running from not being worn. Looks as good as the day I got it.

If I said I'm a closet materialistic jerk who likes the look of it on my wrist, I'd be speaking accurately. I bought it solely because of the name and what my perception of that name is.

I enjoy talking about it with fellow Rolex owners and normally avoid conversations with those who don't own one as there is usually too much explaining for me.

For me, it represents something that was a total spluge and was something I always wanted butalways had other stuff I needed to pay for first. The years went by, and I was in my 40's and although it wasn't on the top of my priorities, it remained a strong desire.

Aside from a wedding band, it is the only piece of jewelry I will wear.

Every time I put it on my wrist, it reminds me of 2007, my best sales year ever, before the recession was a thought, and something only for me as the floors and kitchen were being done for my wife.

In hindsight, the money could have been better spent in a more responsible way, but I'm glad it wasn't.

Probably makes some think less of me, but in the vast majority of the cases, that's totally cool with me.

Colin, I hope yours brings you happiness, even if it's fake.
