Can't wait for the game this weekend. Anyone got a Ark vs UA score prediction? And I also have to ask... does anyone know what the ruling was on the player that was ejected in the ark game last week? is he playing this week? Roll Tide! |

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
Congratulations to all my podnas' from the Low Country and the high country
on their major league embarassment of those rebels south of the border. I am no Ole' Miss Fan, nor no UMemphis fan, but it still gets under my skin when rebel fans call UMemphis "Tiger High" It's a kind of arrogance which when mixed with the already standing perception of racism that I associate with the Ole' Money crew there, makes for a real deep dislike for Ole Miss. Plus I am for LSU. :) When I got up this morning and put out the trash and started up the truck, I heard the radio sports jocks talking as if Miss had lost. I was giddy. It really makes my season. Peripherally, I was happy for them being ranked so high, it brings respect to the league and to the area. Mississippi is a nice place, too. Very well insulated from over-development. I lived more than half my life there, too. But before I ramble, "Go to Hell, Ole' Miss", GEAUX TIGERS ! |

it is hard to call LSU-MISS St. 'notable', lol. I look for the Hogs to test Bama but lose. I look for Florida to escape Kentucky by ten. Tigers win by 35 And well, would you looka there....Ole Miss goes DOWN, lol. A moment of silence please. Houston Nutt is a classic case of a coach who regularly outhinks himself. When you have the weapons Ole Miss has, you RUN until SC shows they can stop it, THEN you mix run and pass to keep them on their heels. Or, you could no what Nutt did and waste some of the finest players in the SEC. McCluster only gets used on third downs? Are you kidding me? |

I think what he meant was "Don't do WELL, Ole'Miss! That's what they yell. I have never yelled it because I have never been to a LSU-MISS game. So what do I know, lol. |
Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
Ole Miss was horribly overrated (not their fault necessarily), they should have been somewhere around 8-15, not #4. It was a fun game to watch, I don't mind seeing Nutt lose, I do wish Snead had played a bit better though

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
I love my Rebels, but they were waaaaay over rated. That ranking was entirely based on how they ended last year, they had easy games at the start of the season, and that several teams ahead of them lost games early. Typical Ole Miss team with a bunch of hype.

FYI for anyone else going to the Bama vs Arkansas game tomorrow. One of the major parking spots on campus is closed due to the rain (grass lot). I'd recommend getting there earlier than normal or be prepared to walk a long way.

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
ummmm.....Ark vs Bama??
I'm going 32-17 Bama Arkansas' offense has looked good but they haven't faced a defense anywhere near as high a caliber as Bama's. The Tide are gonna COME AFTER Mallet :dr |

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
Amazing day of college football, 3 top 10 teams go down (4 if you count ole miss thursday night). Didn't get to watch any other games due to being at the Bama game but I'm looking forward to watching em on the DVR all day :). LSU could actually move to number 4 after barely getting by Miss St. This is gonna be a crazy year!
To the Florida Fans, I hope Tebow is doing better. Always hate to see something like that happen to anyone. |

OK, I didn't want to see him hurt per se'...I wanted to see him hurt bad enough that the heavens would open up, a light beam would focus on him and he would pop up. Better yet, a long-haired guy in sandals, a dove on his shoulder and a "Florida training staff" shirt trots out and gives him a sip off of a special water bottle and he pops up. |

I am also not really sold on Bamas offense. They are above average yes, but they aren't as dominant in the run game as they have in the past. Plus they will play a tough defense in Ole Miss. Besides UF, I would have to say SCAR has one of the fastest defenses in the SEC. If they can play opportunistic defense, and create some turnovers and pressure the QB. It will be a battle. Bamas Defense is solid for sure. but They have some depth questions, and I think your going to see South Carolina keep an uptempo very balanced attack. Garcia will be dangerous against them because of his escapeability. Also look for mismatches in size on the outside with Gurly, and Saunders. :2 |

btw these videos involving spurrier are hilarious:
Spurrier poorly acting in an UnderArmor "click-clack" commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moPBR6os8Z0 :r And some South Carolina students make a good parody of the commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wMnvAjqKLM :r |

............2008.....2009 Passing: 603......1028 Rushing: 947......937 I will agree that looks can be deceiving, but actually our rushing output is almost identical to last year at this point. It's just not as easy to do after losing Smith and Caldwell to the draft. But there might be a slight difference in passing yardage, not sure.:) McElroy is ranked third in the nation in pass efficiency after 4 games. Defensively...not much to say there. Mallet went from being ranked #1 to #30 after he faced us. Ranked #2 nationally in Total Defense. Quite honestly I'm not worried about Garcia. Heck, Spurrier might have him benched by the time our game rolls around. Either way, I look forward to the game, as I do all SEC games. You know what they say about any given Saturday. :tu |
Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009

As far as the offense go, I've heard several national sports commentators call us the most balanced offense in the country so far this year (I'm not sure I agree, but we are up there). Greg McElroy is the 3rd most efficient QB in the nation so far. He is also doing it by involving multiple people. Last year we threw to 2 or 3 people only, this year we'll have 10 people involved in the passing game each year. With the running game we have 3 top notch backs in Ingram, Upchurch and Trent Richardson. Our 4th string back, Terry Grant, was our starting back a few years ago. The Oline has performed good up to this point as well. We are 10th in the country in rushing offense and 8th in total offense. Now we've had 2 easy cupcake games (as have most teams) but we've also played a top 10 team also unlike any of the offenses ranked ahead of us. I am glad to see SC doing good this year (have a couple of friends that went there). They have a good pass rush and Spurrier will use the fact that we scheduled them for homecoming to get his players fired up. Anything CAN happen but Bama SHOULD win the game without too much trouble and I'd expect us to be 14pt or so favorites going in (I expect a bit closer game though, maybe pulling away late). You guys should be 5-1 coming in to Tuscaloosa though and I expect for you guys to be ranked by then so it should be a big game. If it wasn't for Oklahoma vs Texas being that same week it would even have a shot at ESPN Game Day. Click, Clack |
