Yeah I held one and it's definitely the gun for me. I just gotta put down the $1500-$1700 the whole deal is going to cost me.

My HSC expired, I haven't bought a pistol in almost 2 years :sad, that means I broke a promise to the gf when I said I'd only by one a year :D.

Time to make up for that :hy

Got a question for you guys.

My work has had some threats come in and while in my contract it says I cant have weapons im thinking of conceal carrying anyways. Its just one of those things that irks me a little wondering if any of you have been in the same situation.

Sub note: I do have my CCW license.

If they catch you they will fire you on the spot. Also they might be able to pursue legal actual against you for carrying on their private property. I always carry a knife wherever (and I know you have some damn good ones) I am sure you would not have too much trouble taking out a fool with that is need be.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

and I carry a knife while i work too and no one seems to care. Managers have asked to borrow it for different tasks. Guess ill stick with that. I hope its to never use it like that though. Just texted a manager about my concerns and she said a Police officer is now going to be in the store for the next few weeks so that's a relief. Problem solved next topic.

What to you all think of .380? :ss

Re: First Firearm Thread.

unless you are wearing a speedo all the time and need something the size of an LCP to tuck away in your nether regions, might as well carry a 9mm and the much higher energy loadings and performance that caliber offers. I suppose if you had hands the size of an 8 year old, pistols that small are useful, but last time I shot a .25 (20 years ago, and about the size of an LCP) I thought I could do better chucking it at a BGs head.

and I do not like the images of you that just popped into my brain, thank you very much, Mark......

oh, and jobs are hard to come by in these times. Unless you are willing to find another job, and truly do not like the one you have and the consequences of how it will reflect upon your references, leave the piece at home. Interesting they have no prob with a knife, though. I would be willing to bet that those are verboten in the company handbook as well.

Knives are covered in the same rule but most of my managers don't stick to Corporates handbook for much of anything really. If you walked around the store ill bet more than 50% of associates have a knife clipped in their pocket  also I can see the utility of a knife for other tasks as well. Piece will stay in my car in the parking lot. I love my job at Best Buy. :tu

Tough call man. You need to weigh out if it is worth it for you. Does your store have the proper signage displayed forbidding concealed weapons in the store? If so, I would not carry as it opens you up to legal action is something goes down. If they do not have proper signage, you can still be fired.

I know a situation went down recently at pizza hut or something where a delivery guy gunned down someone trying to rob him and take his car. He got fired and then sued the pizza company on some basis that the company put him in dangerous situations, but would not allow him to protect himself

*I have my CHL as well.

None whatsoever. But is in the employee contract.

It usually is in the employee contract. I have carried on my job, BUT I am in territory sales and never report to the office (it is 1200 miles away). There is no explicit language in the paperwork that says I cannot carry in the car, but from my understanding, the car is an extension of the building- and concealed carry is forbidden in the building.

Finally! I've submitted all of my paperwork for my firearms card and handgun license at the beginning of the month and got fingerprinted this week and handed that in as well. Now it's just the wait period! :( NJ is a horrible state to live in for gun ownership. Law says 30 days (from what I've read on the net) but we'll see how long they drag this on.

Congrats on that. Texas is down to about 21 days from application to plastic in hand if you do electronic prints and online app.

Also consider a tazer, or even mace. Lots of options out there nowadays and a lot of companies don't specifically have regulations against them.

the 1911's are both Kimbers. one looks to be the ultra carry two(http://www.kimberamerica.com/product...ls/ultracarry/)

and I would venture a guess that the other is the..
Custom II
http://www.kimberamerica.com/product...stom/royal_II/

fantastic guns, I really want a Super carry but need to find one to shoot first...

The one you said was a Custom looks more like a Target model since it has adjustable sights. Also, it has wood grips which the Custom doesn't come with.

Wow, they must have lightened up since I lived in NJ.
It used to be nearly impossible unless you could prove you carried a large amount of cash.

That was what amazedme when I moved to Florida, how easy it was.

The 90 plus day wait I encountered years ago for my ccl has been reduced to under 2 weeks I am told due to walk in stations for biometrics.

Disney is in a lawsuit and the plaintiff is backed by the NRA challenging Disney's firing of him for carrying in his car. The lawsuit states such rules violate the 2nd ammendment once the guy leaves work.

How they found out, I don't know, but am awaiting the outcome.

I use to carry mine in my car to & from work......as long as its locked up in your car (car safe) and you "don't ask don't tell" who is it going to hurt

its better to have a gun and never need it than to need a gun and never have it

Oh yeah, woohoo! Got my firearms license and handgun purchase card today and am damn excited!!! I am also surprised at the speed at which the state of NJ worked to get this done, bravo! I was seriously expecting it to be drawn out but it literally took about 2 weeks.

Next week when I have off for the Xmas holiday I am taking a ride to the sport shop to browse and see if they have an Springfield Armory XD-9 that I can try out on their indoor range.

If you can, try before you buy. While I have a G19 and love it and shoot it well, I'm a 1911 guy so it always seems "lacking". I rented a M&P once and fell in love. It's on my "to get" list...along with a CZ Kadet, SCAR, another BCM...

go with the m&p I have two of em. My carry 9c is easily concealed and when the initial 13 rounds run out I can slap in my 17 or 28 rounder.

I have considered both the 9 mil and the 1911 but feel the 1911 is too big and too much kick (for wife) with les rounds. As for the 9 i am still considering it for the extra rounds but how much "stoping" power am I giving up? the .40 amd the 9 are the same size as far as concealment goes.

I wouldn't worry too much about "stopping power". With today's modern ammo technology, a 9mm will do just fine.
