Going 9 for 16 on the PP is great, but getting outscored 5-10 at even strength does not win a series.

We'll see. I still have faith. They already won one in BC, hopefully they can do it again and hold serve at home. At least I'll get to go to a third playoff game at Staples!

I will be rooting for the Kings, Brett. :tu

I still am rooting for them, I just didnt think the Canucks would lose last night.
I was really suprised the Sabs let the lead slip and lost in double OT. I thought I had that game nailed. The Caps was an easy call.

As for tonight I am banking on the Hawks. All western series have followed the same pattern and I am banking on the Hawks to make it 4 for 4 making their series 2-2.

As for the Sharks its going to be goaltending and if the Sharks 1st line decides to show up. I think the Avs showed a good game plan against the Sharks in game 4 and kept it close. Nabokov doesnt get shutouts in the playoffs so if Line 1 doesnt show up tonight I think they may not win. Your second and third lines cant be counted on to win/ steal more than a game or two and they have done that. Its now time for the people that get paid to do their damn job.

Pittsburg seems a no brainer given how badly they dominated the last game and the sexy pick is flyers as the Marty just isnt playing out of his mind and they need that against a confident flyers team.

So I will go Hawks, Pens, Flyers. Bad karma to call your own game so I wont give a guess on the 4th game.

Hope you are right, Mike.

Sounds like Campbell will be back tonight, I guess the Preds will target him hard if he is. Hawks are also scratching Ben Eager and Colin Fraser for Adam Burish and Bryan Bickell, with Bickell going on the number #1 line with Toews and Kane.

Unrelated and I dont care. Micah got his second goal of the season. 4.5 years old and I believe only kid in the league five or under with more than one. Generally the 6 year olds and the kids who have turned 7 since january score the goals.

Bad Quality Pic from their team newsletter. Loving the stride.

Sens keep hope alive! :wo

Sharks grab a 3-2 series lead and are in the drivers seat...though I feel awful for Craig.

Hawks' Niemi shuts out the Preds for a second time, but I still don't think the Hawks played great...I look for "great" on Saturday.

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread

Thanks for the positive comments about Micah guys. It has been awesome this year watching him develop and begin to grasp game concepts as we approach the end of his first season. This past week when he got his second goal he finally realized if he went to the front of the net kept his stick on the ice head up and waited for a pass he would score. Something dad has been telling him for weeks. He almost got a second goal that night. Something about watching your child begin to understand what to do and think out there thats so amazing!

As to tonights action. My pics went 2 for 3 again tonight with OT screwing my 3 for 3 bid again. Talk about a clutch win for the Sens. Former Shark with the game winner in triple OT.

Awesome win for the Flyers! They were my pic from the east this year, but they didnt have the regular season I expected. Bouch former Sharks goalie with the win. I believe they will be playing the Caps next though and with Ovie comming on strong its anyones guess.

Hey Tom what do you know. Told you the Hawks would step up and tie the series. I think tonight was a good indicator of things to come in game 5. The Hawks will have momentum and the crowd.

As for the Sharks. I am happy. They stuck to the plan never changing and I think tonight all the physical play and rubber shot at Anderson over the past 4 games finally payed off. They looked pretty dominant out there and the Avs showed a lot of frustration towards the end of the game. That said I cant call this one over. While they appear to have the momentum winning back to back nabby getting the shutout and not scoring any own goals since game 3, as I Sharks fan I just cant help but see the possibility for implosion. I expect an electric enviornment in Colorado for game 6 and the Avs to come at the Sharks like crazed animals taking the body and attempting to get an early goal. If they get the early goal it will be anyones game. I would like to think the Sharks will try to take it to the Avs early, but I dont think they will.

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread

I was suprised to see the line combinations McLelland put out, but they obviously worked well. Nice game by the rookie forwards, and the D basically shutting down the Avs speed. I think the Avs will have a real tough time getting 2 wins, especially with the potential game 7 back in the Tank.

Hawks still have a lot they could improve on, and I think they will...I look for another convincing win on Saturday.

I think the Caps will ice their series tomorrow, but I think the Sabres might take the Bruins to a 6th game....Miller is the key.

Really looking forward to the West games on late, I will tune mainly into the Wings-Coyotes game unless it's a blowout. Hoping the Kings can take the lead over the Canuckleheads.

Alright so my pics for tonight. To be honest though with illimination at the door for 2 teams and a seesaw series you just dont know.

I look for the CAPS to close out the Habs
BUFFALO over Boston tonight
The KINGS over the Canucks. Likely wrong here as Luongo will probally stand on his head. The other pick is known where I stand.

I really can't stand the Canschmucks, or at least some of their players...Luongo, O'Brien, Burrows, Mitchell.....hope L.A. can ramp it back up at home.

I think the Coyotes are done....I just see the Wings whipping up on them at the Joe on Sunday.

Pens and Sharks can both advance tomorrow...and the Hawks have their biggest game of the season so far. Should be an awesome day of hockey.

The bruins played like crap last night. :td
They played a terrible first and second period last night. then in the third they tried to ramp it up a little but to little to late. They have acually done this in the last couple of games but they have just been able to ramp it up. They did not have that spark they have had in the previous games that would get them out of there hole.:2
Monday game coming up lets go guys and put the nail in the coffin.

Kind of spooky. All favorites in their respective wester series lost game three. All have then turned around to win games 4 and 5. Putting all in a 3-2 advantage.

Last night on the Yotes feed I heard Pantera Respect being played. They were playing that back in 99-00 there LoL.

Hawks killed off the last 4 minutes of the penalty to start OT, Hossa comes out of the box and scores the OT game winner a couple seconds later.

Well, if the three Western teams leading 3-2 hold on to win their series, the best 4 teams in the West will be in the Semis, as it should be (my apologies to any Coyotes fans).

The Semis would shape up like this:

San Jose V. Detroit
Chicago V. Vancouver

Some good hockey coming up in the West! :wo

Good win by the Hawks. I just am on the fence about Hossa's hit. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets suspended for that.. Either way Nashville is done. Hawks should put them down in the next game.

Well, I can't say I expected more....but it was disappointing all the same. When Yip netted that one to give the Avs the lead in the 3rd I had high hopes.... But two goals in what seemed like 2 minutes later, Pavelski giving the Sharks the lead, it felt over with 10 minutes to go..... DAMMIT....I am still a little frustrated....

Not having Mueller the entire series, nor Hejduk the final three games didn't help....

Like I said, though fairly disappointed right now, but the Avs really gave me something to cheer about this season. They sure exceeded my expectations, which were probably higher than most.... The youngsters really stepped up and this was very good experience. Anderson was GREAT.

Congrats to your Sharks Mike.....

Never expected that, Joel! I said the other day that I thought the Wings would win Game 6 handily...Fail!

Convincing win for the 'Yotes.

For Game 7, Phoenix has momentum and home ice.

Detroit has vast experience in these type of games.

Home ice could add more pressure to a young team like the Coyotes, so I think that's a non-factor.

Momentum V. Experience......I am not even ready to make a prediction on this one.

the canucks take it and it was fairly expected.

I would like to say great series to the avs and their fans. The team was not expected to make the playoffs, but got in playing great hockey and with a few lucky bounces grabbed some wins. They capitalized on this to make the series very exciting. As they always say though you got to be god to be lucky and the Avs are a good young team. Also as I always say, in the end scoreboard. The Avs were in allbbut one game and deserved the 2 wins and could have easily won more. Bright future ahead of this franchise. I have every belief they will be back next year

That said Mcleoud is a friggin Dbag. Game five he pushes a Shark on to Nabbys back risking injury. Game 6 he goes out of his way to fall on Nabbys back again. That crap is dirty and bush and doesn't belong in the game even if you are losing.

The Hawks will advance Tom. Just as in the Sharks series I think it took a few scares for them to get it together.

as for the fourth series in the west, what can I say but what I have been saying all along. It's the players on the ice not the logo on the front of the sweater that wins the games. Anyone who thinks one of these teams is better then the other is a foolish. The series is officially a best of 1 and neither team has dominated the other. I would also like to point out that statistics showed the Sharks had never won a game 6 when leading a series 3-2 and another team which lost generally won. Of course that was primarily pre salary cap era. So I will say again how about we stop looking at old stats from teams that no longer exist.

looking for an awesome game 6 win from the Hawks and hoping for a shocking win for game 7. Well not shocking to me but I have been saying that all series
