Yeah, you could say I'm in this boat. I guess any fans of AL Central teams other than the Tigers would be right?:r

Crazy. Valverde with the epic fail again. Ibanez just amazing. Misplay by Swisher, some great relief by a first time in the post-season pitcher (Smyly), and the Tigers are up 1-0. I'll take it. :)

I do feel terrible for Derek Jeter....just a ballplayer's ballplayer, I would rather have the Tigers win with Jeter playing.

I didn't watch anything after the game... Did they say exactly what Jeter did to his ankle?

Re: MLB 2012 Thread

espn is saying jeter is out for the season. Ibanez is probably the only good thing the yankees have to rely on since A-rod can't do squat.

Sabathia now scheduled to pitch Game 4 Vs. Scherzer instead of Game 3. CC and Verlander will only meet if the series goes 7.

Glad to see the Tigers "pull" this one out after Valverde blows another one. Hate to see Jeter get hurt...the ONLY Yankee I have ever admired.

Sucks for Jeter. I know how I am for softball.. and to miss games, let alone the playoffs!

How much you think it affects the Yankees?

Jeter seems like a good guy.. I hate him for the fact he is a Yankee, but a great ball player.. Never to much trouble. I don't mind Swisher, since he once was a A's

Seeing how Jeter, Ichiro and Ibanez have been the only consistent performers this postseason...it's a HUGE blow to the Yankees. A-Rod, Granderson and Texiera are gonna have to step it up if the Yankees are gonna win this series.

A-Rod... haha. Good one.

Press in Detroit is calling for a new closer for the Tigers. Valverde has given up the last 7 runs against the Tigers, all with a Tigers' lead in the 9th innings.

Yup, if the managing stays the same and the Tigers' bullpen blows this series, Leyland might get one of those from Dombrowski and Illitch. :2

ESPN.com:

Quote:

NEW YORK -- Jose Valverde won't close for the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of the AL Championship Series but manager Jim Leyland says the reliever is keeping his role for now.

"I guess that sounds like I am mud watching, but I am really not. I still consider him the closer, but he will not close the game," Leyland said. "We will do some work with him."
