Thanks.... Though it has been a GREAT season as to expectations coming in.....but I have been shaking my head the last bit..... Hell, a week or so ago, I was truly wondering if the Avs were going to slip out....

VERY, VERY, VERY happy to be assured a shot to ruffle some feathers in the playoffs....:D

Is he out after the other night?

I would love to see the Avs do well, especially Craig. Against anyone BUT the Blackhawks. ;)

Yes, expected to be out the rest of the reg. season, but they have not set a timetable for his return.

Too bad, hate to see anyone hurt, especially at playoff time.

Well, except Avery, but looks like the Rangers will be golfing next week anyway. ;)

Nice win for the Sharks, Mike, they are keeping the Hawks right from the cusp. Hawks hold their own destiny at this point, last game Cs. Detroit may actually mean something this year.

But the big question is...can Berschmoozi get 7 goals in 3 games? :) .

ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I mean oooo hey Tom.
Its going to take me an extra week to get your sticks out. I need to make an order this week to get a little more variety. Been buying the kids a lot of stuff and neglecting the Humi.

Also my sons team is going to the last game on Saturday night as a group. We are getting passes to be down in the locker room area before the game. Christie Nichol, Scotts wife arranged the passes. Anyone who can watch the SJ feed we may end up on the boradcast given Hayden, Scotts son will be with us and all the kids will have their team jerseys on.

Sharks finally put the boot on a teams throat and kept it there tonight. Still I was kind of cheering for the flames. I do like seeing them in the playoffs. The Sharks have also assurred themselves the Pacific Division title. NHL.com has not updated yet but the best the Yotes can get is 108 and the sharks have 109 currently. They have also assured themselves atleast the 2nd spot overall as the Canucks will not place higher than 3rd. Wings fall back to 7th, but may move back up tomorrow as they play the jackets again and then again on friday, while the Preds draw the Yotes. and the other teams also have much tougher draws.

:r :r

I do get the feed Mike, so I will TiVo it if I can't watch it live. Very cool!

Here's hoping the Wings move up to 6th or 5th, as the Hawks can do no worst than 2nd now.

As far as the wager goes, no hurry at all, Mike...it was all in fun, and it let me rip on one of my least favorite players all season long. :tu :r

Terrible second half of the game for the Hawks, they barely hung on for the win.

Hossa left in the 2nd with an unspecified injury, along with Jordan Hendry. They play this way in the playoffs, it doesn't matter if they win the West...they will nor go far. :(

lol you sound like me. Take it easy they will be fine.
figured Wings would win and preds would not. Wings jump back up to 5th. With another game against the BJ's friday they may finish 5TH.

The B's got pushed back down to 8th place:td They have three games remaining in this disapointing season. The only good thing about their playoff hopes are that Philly and The Rangers play each other twice for the final two games so the B's just have to win one out of the next three and the Rangers loose one against philly and the B's are in. But The B's have been hit by the Bug. Chara, Broken Nose, Sidenberg torn tenden in his wrist out eight weeks, Ference I don't know hurt himself signing a multi year contract and of course Wideman will be playing.

Tough Three games

This hurts, Come on Philly

Go Avs! GO!
Hawks control their fate.

73 penalty minutes in the 3rd period of the canucks sharks game last night. At one point the Sharks had 6 men in the penalty box 3 men on the ice 8 men on the bench. I don't lime burrows. Dude was a Dbag last night.

funny moment of the night was when D.Sedin was popping off to J.Thorton. Thorton asked him to dance. Thorton then mistook H.Sedin for D. Sedin and asked him to go also. He just wanted to beat a Sedin ass

Rod Brind'Amour will miss the last game of the season in Boston with a reported "lower body injury" (groin strain).

Many speculate that he has played his last game as a Hurricane... and possibly the last of his career.

If so, he will be missed. A true HoF player in my book.

A great player and a class act as well. :)

As for the Blackhawks First round opponent:

Quote:

Should the Hawks lose on Sunday and Los Angeles beats Colorado, the Hawks would meet Nashville in the first round.

If the Hawks lose and the Kings lose in regulation or overtime, those two teams would play in the first round.

A Hawks win would give them eighth-seeded Colorado in the first round.

No way can the Hawks and Detroit meet in round one.

I think they can win a first round even against washington. If they don't win a first round I sure hope they make it interesting and make it a seven game series. Make the other team wish they didn't play The B's.

I know they have very good team D and Rask can stone the best of them. just no one to put the puck in the net.
I think they are going to have to clean house.
I would start with the GM and work my way down to stiffs like Ryder.

Great weekend of hockey. I was really suprised the Hawks didnt handle business today, If they had the Wings would have finished 7th based on points and wins differential. That said I am glad to a certain extent the Hawks failed. Now the Hawks and Sharks get easier first round opponents. If the Hawks had won in regulation Sharks vs Wings would have been the first round.

The Sharks game last night with the minimites was a kick in the pants. A lot of people took pics and they got on the jumbo tron a few times. Micah's 4 but all the others were 6ish. Imagine nine 6 year olds in oversized hockey jerseys running wild.Felt bad for the people in the row in front of them. We had to split them up after a while. Nichol brought all the boys into the locker room after the game. Well all but Micah who got scared and froze at the locker room door. Scott came back and got Micah's jersey though and had Marleau, Setto, Pavelski, and some others sign it.

Side note anyone who is looking for a deal on gear.

Hoping so.....Wings saved themselves a little travel by getting 5th and Phoenix. Could be a good series, both are playing well.

Congrats on the West, Mike. And actually if the Hawks had won in regulation, the Wings would have gotten the Canucks and not the Sharks.

how is that Tom. Nashville and det both would have ended with 100 points.
la has 101 and would have taken 5th seed. Nashville has 3 more regulation wins then the wings so with equal points would have had 6 seed and vancouver.

now I am doing all this from my phone but I am pretty sure that's correct. I could have sworn even the Det tv announcers said the same.

I just looked at it and you are absolutely right. The Hawks announcers gave the matchups before the game, and they were wrong, and I am an idiot for quoting them without just checking myself. ;s

lol definetly not my brother. I think that title goes to me for thinking Bersmoochi would hit 25 goals this year. He could have if he didnt disappear for 2 months of the season.

All in all I am just glad the Sharks dont have to face the Wings in the first round. The way my luck is going they would have lost and I would owe Christos 5 cigars also. :r

In the East I really see the top 4 seeds advancing, with the wild card being Philly, but I think goaltending will bite them again. In the West I just dont know. The Coyotes style of play stacks up really well against the Wings, but the Wings are so hot lately. The season series was split I believe 2 games each. The Kings vs Canucks is another one, that I just dont know.

All I know is I love hockey and will be watching till the end regardless. Good luck to all who have a horse in the race.

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread

So thanks to that Wings OT goal, the Kings get Vancouver. Should be an interesting series. Kings tied San Jose for best road record in the West. Vancouver had the worst among playoff teams.

I think more than any other series, as their goalies go so does the series. We saw what the Kings can do against a shaky Luongo (8-3 victory) but we have seen all too often what the Kings can't do with a shaky Quick. We'll see which Jonathan Quick shows up. The pre-Olympic Quick that was 35-17-3, or the post Olympic quick who went 0-3-3 in his last eight games (2 no-decisions) while trying to secure win no. 40. I'll go ahead and make my homer pick and say Kings steal one in Vancouver and hold serve at home for a win in six.

I've got tickets to all the home games so I am very excited. First time in eight years I will be able to really cheer in the playoffs! Go Kings!

Just locked myself into some tickets for the first home game of the Wings/Yotes series :)

Vancouver vs LA because I think Vancouver is a weak 3 seed and I'm looking for LA to upset them. I'll be watching both the Sharks and the Blackhawks games very closely.

The Eastern conference games don't excite me. I was thinking maybe Boston vs Buffalo but I say Ryan Miller already has the series locked up. I don't think Boston has the goal scoring ability to really knock off the Sabres.

I agree, the series with the best potential for great hockey is probably the Wings vs. 'Yotes. But, I'm always looking for an upset. Partially because of the Hawks goalie situation, I think the Preds could give them a run for their money. It's kind of contingent on how tight the games are officiated. Games with a lot of penalties significantly improve the Hawks chances as the Preds penalty kill is abysmal. The fact that Nashville has never won a playoff series doesn't help them either.

And I agree the Bruins/Sabres series could end up a tight one. As good as Miller is, the Sabres will have a hard time scoring too, IMO. It's always tough winning 2-1 games.

two series I am looking forward to are besides sharks are kings and canucks as it could get really nasty, and the wings yotes cause I love getting my hate on for the wings.

I just don't see the Sharks and Hawks series as having a big chance of upset, but you never know. As to the East I still think 1-4 will advance

Plenty of analysts are saying it will be a cakewalk, Tom. I've been hearing a lot of early prediction are Hawks vs Caps in the Cup finals.

However, I'm with you. I don't think it's a sure thing. Of course you will also get introduced to Playoff HOssa, who likes to disappear when you need him.

I am betting on Hossa to change that impression, Christos, but as you said, we shall see. Biggest issue now is how Niemi will respond if the Hawks fall behind early at home.

lol
so he is kicking himself in the nuts because he traded for a young 30 goal scorer vs a draft pick who may or may not ever even play in the nhl? Maybe I should find that gigantic list of 1st and 2nd picks in the past who never make the nhl. Or the huge list of top5 picks who never make it.

I would take the proven product who is very young vs a kid who may never sniff the show. As Burke said today time will tell. How many GMs and coaches did Ott rip through recently for horrible moves? Boston has made some beauties also. Hello pot this is the kettle. :r

Hows Cheecho working out? We are loving heater. Jumbo isn't to bad either Boston. :r
