Sorry couldn't resist.

I recently listened to "Rant" by the guy who wrote Fight Club.
Interestingly odd.
I have a copy of "Pygmy" but haven't been able to sit down and read much of it.

Chuck Paliniuk is a great writer, IMO.

pygmy was the least of his books, trying too hard and difficult to follow

At first I had a hard time, then after a bit it almost made sense. Almost, haha.

Right now I am reading the CA newsletter, good stuff!

Re-reading "The Nicomachean Ethics" by Aristotle for my own pleasure between readings for summer courses.

For summer courses I'm reading "Race Class & Gender" by Collins and Andersen, as well as "Employment Law" by Walsh. Fascinating

About half-way through John Adams by David McCullough. This has been on my list for a long time. Everyone said I'd love it.

The first couple of times I started it, I put it down after a few pages. I either couldn't get into it or found something else I really wanted to read. This time, I'm far enough into it that I can see why it won the Pulitzer Prize.

I really enjoyed that book. If you like it, check out 1776 by McCullough. It is excellent and a quicker read than Adams.

I thought it was pretty good. Maybe not as good as the others in the series, but not bad. Have to wait a year for book 6:(

Looking forward to the last Eragon now.

Ditto. 1776 was easier. I had to do John Adams in pieces, while reading other, lighter stuff.

Been reading "The Man in the Rockefeller Suit" By Mark Seal about the guy a few years back that posed as a member of the Rockefeller family but was eventually caught. Pretty interesting story on how this guy managed to fool people from a very young age.

Just finished "An Army at Dawn" by rick Atkinson. Excellent narrative history of the allied invasion of north Africa in WWII. Casts a new light for me on people like bradley, patton, eisenhower during their first (sometimes bumbling) steps as commanders on a large scale. Told mostly through the contemporaneous records of both leaders and led.

Part of my bucket list is to read some well known classics. I've already read The Count of Monte Cristo, 20k Leagues Under the Sea, War of the Worlds and currently reading Around the World in 80 Days.

BTW, lots of these are free for downloading in Amazon for the Kindle and the Kindle app.

Is there any mention of the border patrol? Book sounds interesting based just on the title.

It's good, but not one of Faulkner's best. A lot more straightforward than his best work.

I'm one of those who starts a book, puts it down, finds another, starts that one, and the it cycles back to the original book. I'm in the middle of Water for Elephants, The Book of Air, The Relic, House of Leaves, and Into the Wild. Sadly I'm about to start Simon Pegg's Nerd Do Well (but I'll probably finish this one)

The Relic is one of my favorite Douglas/Preston novels and what got me hooked on Agent Pendergast's many adventures.
