Patterns nice. My wife won't let me shoot in the house, so I can't test penetration, and I can't convince anyone to stand on the business end of the gun to test stopping power, so negative on that one also. Guess I'll just have to trust what others have done.

:r!

Get a chunk of drywall from Home Depot or something. That's what I did to test penetration. 2 layers with an air gap from some 2x4's provide a nice simulation. Just set up a piece of paper on the opposite end about 6 inches past that and have at her :D

Would love to, but I haven't found a range nearby that would let me shoot anything other than paper targets and clays. Maybe I'll keep a setup in the car for the days when nobody's around. Since I think that rule is geared at 'reactive targets', maybe they wouldn't mind...

Here's another site for shotgun load info:

That picture reminds me of a picture they showed us here at the academy. It was a mexican drug lords house they raided and it had a room containing 230 million dollars worth of cash stacked up. Just plain ridiculous.

"Old Painless" does some great work. I have access to a great variety of shotguns and plan on doing a lot of shotgun testing for both hunting and home defense purposes once it gets back up into double digit temperatures here in Buffalo. I'll surely post results to this thread and if anyone has any suggestions/theories/questions they'd like tried out, I'll be sure to give them a whirl. The first one to go is the accuracy of a rifled slug out of a rifled barrel. OP touched on this, but if his results are repeatable, it could mean a lot to hunters in my area who are stuck with slugs only.

They didn't find it stacked that way. It was hidden in the walls, etc. Here's the full story:

I finally got my Del-Ton upper. It fits like a glove and the finish its pretty much perfect. There is only one spot by the flash suppressor that is very slightly showing thru but I would have to say its just from assembly and handling. Other than that I could not be happier. It took about 13 days total to order it, build it, and ship it from NC. :tu

Here is my latest purchase. AR15.com 2 years ago had the idea of making some lowers. 2 years later, they offered them to lifetime members 1st. I requested #69 :) Just picked this up today. Oh yeah, everytime they do the instant background check, I just am so happy I wasn't old enough to buy guns back in the day when you had to wait days for the background check.

Us lifetime members got the 1st shot at them. Now that is finished and they will be selling some. See Goatboy's post on this page for more info: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.htm...=996698&page=4 Hope this helps :tu

Hey Christos! I just found this thread. Wish I found it earlier. Anyway, I've shot that HK .45c before. It's good for a compact. Just more difficult to be accurate as the full size. Obviously that's goes for most compacts but if you needed a compact in a .45 then I suggest it. I LOVE the HK .45.

My Valentine's day present from the wife. Never been much on Taurus, but I just couldn't resist this little thing. 709 Slim, single stack 9mm. Great carry gun.

It is very comfortable both IWB and in a pancake.

So far, I love it. Now I just need 300 rounds through it so I'll have confidence in it.

Not my first, by any means, but one I've kinda been looking for. Just picked up a S&W model 19. .357 Magnum. Stainless steel, 3 inch barrel. New old stock. New in original box. Never fired. Never opened. Never even had cylinder spun. No spin ring on cylinder.

Haven't decided if I'll open, load and shoot it, or leave it in new condition. I've been watching for a .357 revolver for a while as a shooter, so I'm kinda leaning towards using the gun.

That Taurus slim is nice. I have the mil Pro 9mm and I love mine. It shoots great and I have not had a FTF yet (2500 Rounds). I just wish it had a rail to mount a light/laser.

But I know posts can be worthless without pics, so allow me to produce a little ATF pic I took tonight :D:

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Im thinking up picking up a Spikes .22 conversion for my AR but I have also looked at the CMMG and Ciener. Ive heard good things about all three but what would you guys go with for quality? Im just using this for plinking/ground hogs and such.

Is a conversion kit really less accurate than a dedicated .22 rifle cause .22 is a hair smaller than the .223 barrel?

My second option is to pick up a S&W M&P 15-22. The Spikes is around $200 and comes with 2 15 round mags (I hate NJ). The 15-22 is around $500 I believe.

Well I got both my tax returns back and would like to buy a .22 semi auto.

Im thinking of either a Ruger 10/22 or the S&W M&P15-22.

If I get the Ruger I would either get another shotgun like an 870 and bank the rest. Or skip the shotgun and put the rest towards the car payment.

If I get the S&W I would only buy that and save the rest/car payment.

I just want this for fun and plinking. I have heard that the new 10/22's arent so accurate without a better barrel and trigger group and all that stuff, is this true?

Opinions? Opinions on other rifles like marlin, savage?

Re: First Firearm Thread.

I have a 10/22 and it isn't modified at all. It is plenty accurate. I also have a Rem 870 shotgun, so I would lean toward the 10/22, 870 express combo :tu :gn
