It seemed pretty clear to me the hit was delivered as a response to Seabrook's hit 20 seconds earlier. Was Wisniewski's hit illegal? Yes. Intent to injure? Not sure...really hard to say. Uncalled for? IMHO, no. Seabrook was late delivering his check...which looked high and bounced the guy's head off of the boards. The hit he received clearly seemed retaliatory and, IMHO, definitely served a purpose. Just like fighting majors, some are uncalled for, but many serve a purpose in the game.

All IMHO.

:2

While I agree the hit on Perry was late also, it only caught him high because Perry was bent low, I don't think there was any intent to deliver a head shot. Wiz left his feet and came charging from 65 feet out to put his stick and forearm into Seabrook's melon. I absolutely think if was uncalled for, but again, I respect your view, but hope that Campbell sees it the way I do.

I don't think explained myself clearly. It was illegal in the fact it should have been a penalty. Fighting is, by the same definition, illegal. Same with hooking, slashing, etc.

I think what makes hockey such a great sport is that the players can, to some extent, police themselves. It's tough to balance self-policing and 100% clean play though. If rules were put in place that took some of that away I think the sport’s popularity would diminish even further.

It's kind of similar to the headache (pun not intended) that Nascar is dealing with right now. They want their drivers to police themselves on the track, because that's what the fans want. Then in their fourth race someone gets intentionally spun and accidentally flipped upside down. Oops! Now what? (Sorry for bringing Nascar into the discussion! :r)

To really confuse matters (:D) if Wisniewski were suspended I wouldn't have a problem with it. I just didn't see the hit as "uncalled for". If a player gets hurt by way of an illegal hit, then I think it should be left up to the discretion of the league whether any further action should be taken (probation, fines, suspensions, etc.), regardless if the intent was to injure (which I think is impossible to determine anyway). The fact that the hit was illegal is enough for me. :2

Now if only the Flyers had a dependable goalie... :( I am wary enough of Leighton. Now with him out for now (D2D), they have to rely on Boucher?

The Flyers haven't had a top 6 goalie since Lindbergh, arguably a top 10 in Hextall, but either way it's been more than or close to 20 years.

It's payback time the B's got to man up, that have to? The team is honoring the last team to win the cup and the legends will be in attendance?

Outside of the first 3 minutes of the game it was sloppy. I can't believe they are even an 8th seed right now.

Wow, no opinions from those who thought Wisniewski's hit was legal?

Nice character win from the Hawks tonight while missing 3 of their top 5 defensemen. Byfuglien actually played some good D, and the Hawks tied the Sharks again for ast in the West.

I thought it was Bush if that helps Tom. You know people dont have much to say when they get rick jamesd.

The Sharks continue their crap play dropping a 4th consecutive game. If the Yotes keep winning and the Sharks keep imploding they will be in 4th by next week. As it sits the Yotes have more wins so a tie will equal 4th for the Sharks. Why stop there though maybe they can manage to fall to 5th or 6th. One of the only bright notes has been Joe Pavelskis play. Fresh off the Olympics he has not gone into the Outhouse like certain other olympic participants who are having trouble locating the net. Tonight the Sharks had 22 shots missed the net. Nevermind those that did.

Good thing I sold off most of my first round tickets again. Sad listening to the broadcasters trying to say its because these other teams are desperate for points. The Sharks are now desperate for points.

Side note. The CCM Ovie curve is wicked sick. Just siiiiiiiiiiick. That is all.

Tom, I just wanted to see the team play with some heart for a change and my distant hope was to see Crosby taken out for as long as Savard is out. I am almost 60 and I remember the code that if your best player is taken out, they lose their best player. Also look for a pm from me that is several months overdue. Paul:tu

The code is sadly eroded, and I think that accounts in part for a lot of the lack of respect players are showing to each other these days, Paul.

Last second comebacks tonight for Anaheim and Detroit (to take one point and keep 8th place over Calgary). Sharks lost their 5th in a row on the road, both they and the Hawks need to do some serious regrouping before Mid-Aprii.

And no goal for Berschmoozi.

I have been partial to the Coffey curve for many years, on the old wood (Sherwood PMP) sticks I finally had to special order and buy a dozen at a time. They are still making it for the composite sticks that I use now, it must be popular since Coff has been retired for almost 10 years.

Seabrook, who missed Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Kings, said he's feeling better and could play Saturday night against the Phoenix Coyotes. But coach Joel Quenneville said he'll decide on Saturday.

Ducks defenseman James Wisniewski was suspended eight games for the hit in the second period. Seabrook understands Wisniewski likely was retaliating for Seabrook's earlier hit on Ducks winger Corey Perry.

"I don't know why he couldn't have done it a different way," Seabrook said. "The hit I made on Perry warrants a fight or guys run me a little bit out there, but I think there's a better way to do it."

Seabrook said he watched "quite a few replays" of the hit, and doctors told him he likely blacked out.

The incident obviously strained a friendship. Wisniewski, a former Blackhawk, is getting married and verbally invited Seabrook to the wedding. When asked Friday if he'll attend, Seabrook first said, 'No,' but he added, "we'll see."

"He called me and left me a message," Seabrook said. "It was nice of him, but I'm just going to take some time and figure it out from there.

"I'm pretty [ticked] off right now," he added. "But time will tell. Time will heal, and we'll see down the line."

think I may try out a sher-wood as they are producing the curve in a composite.
was reading on modsquad and hf many think the coffey is the best curve ever made, I guess the bigger makers produce similar curves but not quiet exact. . The swood is cheap at the monkey so I may just grab one. I left a stick at the rink the other day and lets just say it hurt when I realized.

One more loss and the Sharks will likely drop to 4th. Only savings grace is they are playing Edmonton next. Then they play the Kings in the Playoffs at #5 who have had their number all season long. Que early playoff exit yet again and implosion of team. Last game of the season is against the Yotes. Wonder how that will play out as to playoff position.

Friggin clownshoes gets a goal finally. 20 games? seriously why did he bother. 20 freaking games he couldnt help me out.

From what I see with the Sharks Pavelski is one of the only guys on the team selling out right now every night.

Thorton gift wrapped the first goal by turning over the puck at the red line to Pasani. Basically Pasani just took the puck from him and no one was back. The second goal no one even touched Penner till he was in the crease. They showed the play from the back. Malhotra literaly stopped skating after Penner and no one bothered to pick him up. Why Malholtra decided to just not bother is beyond me.

horrible defense, horrible passing, one or two players giving all the rest just coasting. The Yotes deserve the spot. The only thing I am wondering is it seems like the Sharks of last year. They might be peaking to soon. Its hard to stay hot for a long time. They have won 9 straight. Or are the Sharks trying to duck the Wings and hide in the middle of the pack? I doubt that. They are just horrible right now. Nabby? yeah he got exposed in the Olympics and it looks like everyone knows how to beat him now. I really think that everyone figured him out based on the olympics. He is getting worked harder then the village bicycle these days. Everyone is taking turns.

decent video showing downies really dirty play on sid and some of Ovechkins dirty plays over the past 2 years.

Wings are 8-2-1 since the Olympic break. Anyone who thinks they aren't the favorite to come out of the West (especially with the way Jimmy Howard is playing lately) hasn't been watching hockey. Hope they move far up enough in the seeding that the Hawks don't catch them in Round 1.

Agreed. The Wings have gotten very hot of late. Almost everyone has been playing 500 or worse hockey since the Olympics. The Wings and Yotes are playing great hockey. I expected them to come on strong at the end, but didnt expect everyone else to play 500 or worse.

Sharks finally got a win tonight and with a little help from the Hawks got out of fourth, but I dont know how long the luck will last.

My favorite all time shark and my childhood hero.
Damn thats funny though.

I met Ricci at the local toys r us little over a year ago. He was there with his kids. Very cool guy. He saw me eyeballing him and gave me the nod. I walked over and told him he was my alltime favorite shark. He still had the flow. Let my son say high who was rocking the flow also. We left at near the same time. He made it a point to make contact with me as he left and exchange some words. Awesome dude, very humble. Drives a Ford pickup truck like me.
