I'd settle for 3. ;)

If this doesn't confirm that these are the best two hockey teams in the world at this point, I don't know what would. When I said I thought this would be epic, who knew?

Commentators on NHL Tonight are critisizing Rask for throwing Krug under the bus for his turnover (In his post-game interview).

Well Krug did cost them the game?

Rask will speak his mind..a while back he really let Seidenberg have it, they just have to deal with it.:sl
We just might have seen the last of Krug?

The big blow will be Horton if he can't go.

Great game kept me on the edge of my seat.

Great game, they had their chances to win but Crawford made some unbelievable saves.

But to win in 6 or 7 you have to loose 2 or 3 :D

Re: NHL 2013 Thread

Krug made his mistakes he's a rookie and you knew it was going to happen sooner or later :2 if they don't think he can handle it they will replace him with Bartkowski or Redden (probably Redden)

Rask, says it like it is I don't see what he said as criticizing Krug jsut stating what happened. Could he be more tactfull, Yes.

I can't wait For Saturday. :banger

Chara is friggen huge. My step-bro was about his height, 6'9", but weighed about half as much. He was the definition of a bean-pole. Funny thing, whenever we were together, nobody ever asked how tall I was.

I look forward to more of the finals. Great game 1, a very fun brand of hockey to watch.

My son played against Dylan Olsen(been up and down with the Blackhawks/Ice Hogs) earlier this week. His(Dylan) dad is a local coach that my son has been involved with on and off for the past few years. Anyway, they were playing games during some private ice time and Dylan was there.

Funny listening to the LM describe him, how big, good, bla...bla...bla. "And he wasn't even trying."

People complain how there is no parity in the NBA and MLB there are caps but you just go over them and pay the taxes, NFL parity problem is different but the cap helps a little bit...they still give contracts but can get out of a lot of them and pay off very little of them, in the NHL there is a floor and a ceiling on the team payroll, and how's this for parity tonight was the 26th OT game of the 2013 playoffs.

Love the NHL rewind with Players inside the Glass, don't care what different players / plays they are showing it's just really cool to hear them talk to each other and celebrate. One of my favs was Krug from the Bruins on the bench say something like "wow this is the playoffs" .. lol

Another great one was 2 rangers on the bench one saying "if he chips it in deep you have to go around him and get there first and i have to get to the other side .. then .. then we need.. i dont know we need something .. " :r

Congrats to the Bs fans, they dominated the OT and it seemed like they were destined to win. Best of 5 now, Boys.

Crawford was awesome, I feel bad for him.

Funny note....got a heavy downpour during the OT, and my DirecTV went out for about 45 seconds. When it came back, first thing I saw was Shawn Thornton celebrating. It's like the gods conspired to spare me from watching the goal live. And I thank them. :lr

Monday can't come soon enough...Let's Go Hawks! :)

I've come to be a Bs fan over the past 7 or 8 years, though I by no means live & die with them. It's a good thing: this series has got to be taking years off the life expectancies of both Hawks & Bs fans alike.

The hockey fan without a rooting interest is getting everything they could want in this Cup.

Re: NHL 2013 Thread

I know a couple people here in SD that aren't really hockey fans at all that have been glued to the t.v., game one sucked them in, people that really had no idea how tough, fast and exciting hockey is are all texting and posting me asking questions about the game, different rules, they are all getting hooked. This is really what the NHL needed after a crappy lockout shortened season. Hopefully they can build off of this.

What a game last night! The way the Hawks came out of the gate was stifling.
Hitting, shooting, fore check you name it.
The B's were back on their heels.
But it looked like the Hawks punched themselves out of the game they gave it all they had in the first two periods and did not have enough left for the 3rd and overtime :2

Monday is going to be great I have my sons spring hockey game 6-7 get home in time for the drop of the puck.

Wednesday is going to be epic. I'm going to my first Stanley cup playoff finals game.
And even better The ticket was FREE! :noon

I don't mean to brag but I am so psyched :banger

It may be taking years off my life but damn the elevated heart rate must be good for something! Die hard Hawks fan since the days after the Indianapolis Racers folded. Best finals I have seen since then and its only two games so far!

Enjoy the Game, Joe, nothing like a Finals game in person. :tu

Adam, those you described are fair-weather fans. They are "hooked" for the last part of the ride to a potential Cup, and will be "unhooked" as soon as the celebration is over.

Damn stupid Sundays! Bring on Monday! :D

AdamJoshua 06-16-2013 10:33 AM

Re: NHL 2013 Thread

I agree Tom but the NHL has to get fans some how, if a few here and there stick the league is better off, hell LA Just won the cup and they are only 2 hours up the road and still very few fans in these parts. For me they are the best pro-sports league they really need to work on their fan base, of course this is nothing they don't know, but a lockout certainly doesn't help.

You'd think they would learn from the MLB, Toronto won 2 championships in a row, there was a lock out and they are STILL paying for it, for years after the lockout they couldn't give away tickets in Toronto and they had a championship team.

icehog3 06-16-2013 01:50 PM

Re: NHL 2013 Thread

I get what you are saying, Adam, if one in 20 remains a fan, the NHL is still better off than they were before.

I got a little aggravated in 2010 when all these people who never gave a sh!t about hockey were telling me they got to see the Cup here pr there. At least it motivated me, and I got snuck into the Hawks' President's private party and gave her a kiss. :lr

LOL never got my pic with the cup (or saw it in person) but did get it with the World Series Trophy the first when they won it in 2004, at the time that was a bigger deal ;)

Bruins keeping the Hawks to the outside and completely dominating defensively through 2. Hawks need to get inside the B's D in the 3rd to have any chance.

Congrats to Joe and the B's fans, they were dominant defensively.

Love Jagr's interview after the game, he said the Bruins more than any other team he's ever played for make him feel important even when he's not putting the puck in the net, he's never felt that way with any other group of guys....

Boston's D was great, kept the Hawks on the perimeter most of the game.

Jagr's pass was a gem.

Hawks will need to figure out how to get behind the D if they are to get back in the series.

Very true once you get through the layers of defense..you have to face a rock solid Rask:D

Hawks are going to have to open it up next game and bring the D men into the mix?

If that happens and they turn the puck over it could lead to some odd man rushes... I hope:D

That's what they did during the Hawks/Wings series and it worked. They did give up some odd man rushes but the Wings weren't able to capitalize enough on them.
