Cigars have quelled my watch buying. Currently down to a Solar G-Shock (for work) and my Helson Shark Diver.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I buy and wear wristwatches for fun and not investing. I do invest in old pocketwatches, especially when I can save one from the gold melters. Here is a 120 year old 18s Waltham in 14k that was destined to be melted down for the gold. I couldn't let that happen to this beautiful case. It's so fine that I think it spent most of it's life stored away in a sock drawer. You just don't see them in this condition anymore. The cost to recreate a case like this today would be outrageous and I just can't believe that anybody would be willing to destroy this piece of history for greenbacks. That's me though, I'm different.:)

It'll be interesting to see how the market goes with Eta remaining exclusvie to Swatch group brands. Several marques have been scrambling to find replacements that'll be a direct fit. Tooling for a new case, and movement parts are $$$. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I think I agree with dont buy a watch as an investment. While I cant afford a $10k fashion statement (yet), there are many things that appreciate faster than watches or even Gold. Ferrari's come quickly to mind the used ones often sell for double what they were new 2 years ago.

If you want to hold something for several years, Cristal and Dom Perignon always increase in value and everyone can buy at it the same price when current at Costco, etc... See how much a 20 year old DP goes for compared to a current offering! |

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I bought this as an early Christmas present for myself (That's a good excuse right?)
http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...34928864_n.jpg It's a Movado Sapphire Synergy watch. It's an upgrade from my Bulova Claremont from their precisionist line. I wear a Casio G-Shock Mudman at work. I don't think there's a better work watch around, that thing has taken a beating. |

This looks pretty nice for a watch on the cheaper side. I have the bulova star marine and wear it almost as much as my tag carrera. |

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I was a "crazy" watch guy, I loved dive watches and mostly hoarded seikos and micro brands for the past 4 years. But I got tired of the hobby and sold everything I had by the end of 2012 and now I only have a pilot watch and 1 micro brand diver (Armida).
I've got on the Armida today... http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/v...ps30f2adf6.jpg |

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Anyone have a Seiko 5 Automatic? Been looking at two different models, the SNK805 and SNZG09. I really want the similar looking, and more expensive Hamilton Khaki Mechanical, but I'll have to settle for a Seiko for the time being.
