Jr and I went out and got a S video cable. With a little work we can now watch the Red Wing game on the TV fed from the laptop.

Website used is www.channelsurfing.net

Jr has been a Red Wing fan his entire life so setting this up brought a big smile to his face.

That makes me happy.

That's the kind of hockey the Bruins need to play.

It would be a lot smarter for the Bruins to play another game like they played tonight, and not look for payback/retaliation. Good way to be golfing Wednesday. ;)

Walker, should get suspended for the sucker punch,
not that it will matter if he plays or not.

I agree, that game was dominated by the Wings. The last 7 minutes of the 2nd and maybe the first 2-3 minutes of 3rd the Ducks actually made a little push, but otherwise it was all Wings!

If the Wings score first in game 6, I think it's all done.

Go ahead and crow... Bruins spanked us tonight - no excuses. I figured the Bruins had a decent game coming before it was all over.

I still feel good about our chances to get one of the next two.

Some might say Ward should get suspended for some of his infamous forearm shivers... ;)

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread

It's being reported that Ward has a broken orbital bone in his face, that sucker punch put him out of the playoffs.
The Bruins were down two defensemen already.

I always think it's a shame when a player gets injured and has to miss the playoffs, regardless of what I think of the player. Sorry for Ward. Maybe he will think about that sucker punch next time he thinks of throwing one of his forearm shivers. though.

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread

My guess is that Walker will miss the rest of this series, at the very least, for the punch.

Agreed on both points.

Yeah... I'm afraid Walker will be out. I'm not happy that A. Ward's orbital bone is broken, but I wouldn't call looking a man square in the eye and taking a full wind up a "sucker punch." Walker doesn't have the reputation of being a dirty player. Ward has been asking for a confrontation - I'm just sorry both he and Walker will likely be gone for the rest of the playoffs.

As both of these men will understand, actions have consequences.

How about the the slash by Jokinen? I bet that will also get reviewed.

Sometimes as a die-hard fan, we see the things the other team does to our guys, but gloss over what our guys do to them. There has been plenty of "back and forth" in the Bruins/'Canes series, if one looks at it objectively.

I generally agree with Ice here, that said....

Sorry joe but that was extremely bush, and a SUCKER PUNCH.
Evidence is very clear in this video please pay attention starting at 50 seconds.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLnEDFaDEdA
Ward and Cullen are in a gloves on discussion/ shoving contest, likely about where they will be going to dinner tonight. Walker is the second man in on a NON fight and he comes in swinging. First with the glove on. As Ward turns to start jawing Walker has already dropped the gloves and is throwing a bomb. It is pretty clear Ward and Cullen had no intention of dropping the gloves. Walker who has a pretty extensive fight card took the opportunity to try to send a message cause his team was getting blown out. Within 3 SECONDS Walker as the second man in has hit Ward first with his glove then turns Ward and throws a ungloved fist to the face.

that said game 6 is going to be intense now. Maybe the Bs will use this for motivation. If the take game 6 then you know what they say about a game 7. I will definetly be watching game 6

Not Walker's finest moment, and I see your point... I will just have to let the league sort it out. As I said, I am not happy about Ward getting hurt.

Game six will indeed be one to be remembered.

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread

Not here to crow about the win Joe, should be a good game six. Tonight gave me hope for a game seven. Walker should sit at least one game. Still trying to figure out why Ward was given a fighting major when all he did was get the crap kicked out of him.

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread

Sounds like I missed a tough game from the Bruins last night on the ride home. Doesn't suprise me that things got a little nasty. This is the playoffs after all.

Look to see the Ducks do the same on Teusday night. Wings called up Darren MaCarty so we might see him out there to police the action. Hoping the WIngs can stand up to the early barrage I'm sure they will face from the Ducks. First goal in this game could be very important. We will see.

GO WINGS!!

I would be shocked if they let Walker play again in this series, so my guess is the NHL will give him at least 2 games, in case the Bs take it to a Game 7.

Don't suspend him, put him at center ice with either Chara or Lucic, no team mates and no officials. Set the timer at 5 minutes and let them settle it right there.:D

Just heard reported that there was a fine but NO suspension for Scott Walker.

Quote:

The National Hockey League today announced that Hurricanes forward Scott Walker has been fined $2,500 for an incident that occurred at the 17:13 mark of the third period of Game 5 against the Boston Bruins. There will be no additional punishment assessed.

I believe tonight will be the end of my playoff pool. The Canucks were three minutes from a stranglehold 3-1 lead in game four but then it all went away in a big, quick POOF!! It was a fun dream while it lasted. :al

I expect the Canucks to lay it all out tonight, so I don't see an easy game for the Blackhawks by any stretch, Brett.

From the Associated Press:
Quote:

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Carolina Hurricanes forward Scott Walker will not be suspended but was fined $2,500 by the NHL on Monday for throwing a punch that may have broken a bone in Boston Bruins defenseman Aaron Ward's face.

Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford told The Associated Press that the automatic suspension given to Walker was rescinded during a hearing with league disciplinarian Colin Campbell. It was ruled the hit was not a "sucker punch."

"Based on what was said on the ice as I was dropping my gloves, it was my understanding that I was engaged in an altercation," Walker said in a statement issued by the team.

Tempers flared in the final minutes of Boston's 4-0 victory Sunday in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals when Ward and Carolina's Matt Cullen began shoving in front of the Bruins' net. Walker skated in and hit Ward with a right cross that knocked the defenseman to the ice and was given a misconduct, a fighting major and an instigator penalty with 2:47 remaining.

Boston coach Claude Julien said after the game that team doctors feared Ward had a broken orbital bone. He was being re-evaluated Monday.

"In reviewing what I saw, I just didn't like what happened. ... I just don't think there was any need for that," Julien said after practice in Wilmington, Mass. "He sucker-punched him once coming into the scrum when [Ward] was involved with another player. And then he dropped his gloves and sucker-punched him.

"I don't care what people say about, 'Ward should've protected himself.' He had no intention of getting involved," he added. "We asked our guys to stay composed and not fall into that trap, and he just did that. A guy with Walker's experience should know better than to sucker-punch a guy."

Things were chippy throughout a physical game in which the teams combined for 29 penalties and 83 penalty minutes. That's not counting Jussi Jokinen's second-period slash to Zdeno Chara's lower body that briefly sent the Boston captain to the locker room. Jokinen was not penalized.

Rutherford said the incident was "clearly brought on by them," saying he felt the Hurricanes had taken shots from Boston players throughout the series, which Carolina leads 3-2. He isn't worried about the possibility of the Bruins retaliating against Walker during Game 6 Tuesday night.

"If that's the way the game's going to be played, that's the way we'll play the game," he said.
