Great win for the Wings :D They really just stole all the momentum in that second period. Chicago at least still tried to make it a game with 2 goals in the 3rd. Season series is 3-2 Hawks with 1 game left.

Hoping for a repeat of the Hawks and Wings in the Conference Finals, Christos!

not going to happen Tom. I am still holding out for a Calgary push and Wings flame out. Hey that works on 2 levels. get it Flame out. huh get it. See what I did there. hahah

So how many games is Cooke getting for the HS on Savard?
Second offense in 3 months. Walker earlier in the season. Savard got strechered off. I think atleast 4 games no pay.

The Wings are making the playoffs. No way the just tank the rest of the season. They know the playoffs have basically already started for them, as every game is crucial in the standings.

Cook needs to get a suspension. His entire career has been cheap shots. Let him stay suspended for as long as Sevard is out. In addition this is a stupid move since it now makes Crosby a target.

Tom, put in cook and sevard hit, it is the first thing up in you tube, can't figure how to embed the video. You will agree that it was an extreme cheap shot I hope.

I'm disgusted at Claude Julien and the Bruins for letting that hit on Marc Savard go and not doing anything about it. There is a line between what's legal and what's dirty and Cooke crossed way over the line.

Julien may as well just say do anything you want to us on the ice we will just sit down and take it.

I agree!
Cooke Should've had his head taken off. Not from a cheap shot mind you but someone on the Ice Should've just have just punched him in the face, no questions. It doesn't matter that they are down a goal stick up for your team.:2

And another thing Cooke was saying he got hit the same way at center ice just before that. He is full of crap because if he did he would have been lying on the ice unconcious as well.

Bush league crap....and Cooke has a history. They are broaching the subject of hits to the head at the GM meetings today. I think Cooke should get the rest of the season for that one.

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread

from the vid it doesn't look like the hardest of hits, but blows directly to the head don't need to be all that vicious to do damage, especially if hit in the right place. Was BS either way and I'm also surprised the bruins guys didn't go after cooke

As I said before. Welcome to the salary cap era. This year was the year it finally hit the wings and they lost some key players. Do to the cap the extreme depth the wings used to have isn't there. I remember in years past the wings 3rd line was better than teams 1st line. Those days are gone. Welcome back to the pack.

I still don't agree with this statement. They still have great depth, but they haven't been healthy and they aren't playing well together right now. They need to get their heads into the full 60 minutes of a game and then you'll realize, salary cap or no salary cap Red Wings are still a very good team.

The Wings will be a dangerous team come playoff time, and I would bet a paycheck they make the playoffs. Hope they get the Sharks and not the Hawks in the first round, and if the Hawks do catch them, they better play Niemi and not that sieve Huet.

Yeah, I would be very surprised to see the Wings out of the playoffs. It is pretty unusual to see them play so inconsistently, but I would definitely not want to go against them in the playoffs. And I would agree that I don't think the Wings problems this year are cap related. They did lose Hossa, but they have had a lot of injuries. However, their biggest problem is that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are not superhuman this year.

I am so looking forward to (hopefully) having a dog in the playoff fight this year. It has been WAAAAAAYYY too long. Go Kings!

Chris Chelios is headed back to the show. :wo :tu :D

The 48-year-old defenseman, a three-time Norris Trophy winner, has been called up by the Atlanta Thrashers, general manager Don Waddell told ESPN.com on Wednesday.

"Can't wait. Got to make the most out of this chance," Chelios said in a text message to ESPN.com.

Chelios had 22 points (5 goals, 17 assists) in 46 games with the AHL's Chicago Wolves this season. He signed an NHL deal with the Thrashers on March 2. The Wolves are Atlanta's primary AHL affiliate.

O.T win for the Hawks tonight against L.A.....Patrick Sharp's second goal of the game was the game winner.

http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...g3/burish2.jpg

Adam Burish's first game back after missing the first 64 tonight. 10 seconds into his first shift, he sets up Sharp's 1st goal....a few seconds later, he fights....ended up only a goal short of the GHHT. :)

We will disagree.

As I said last time we had this discussion, deep teams still win when players get injured as other players step up. That didnt happen. There is no point in me linking stats pages they are easily found. As a side note I believe the Wings are healthy so I suppose we will see a much improved effort. As others have said they likely will make the playoffs, but as I also pointed out a few months ago to you it will be a 7 or 8 seed no higher. I still believe there is a possibility they will miss it also. It really comes down to a few factors.

I know one thing my other team the Leafs should be getting the #1 pick in the draft. Woooot! :td

OOO nice win in OT by the Hawks. LA gave the puck away 2x on bad passes which resulted in goals in under 5 seconds. That was fugly.

The Kings are definetly one of the teams I have worries about as a Sharks fan. You guys took the season series and always get up for any of the games. I little nastiness was brewing last time and the Kings are definetly playing god hockey. I dont even want to think about another Sharks implosion this year.

Here's the thing with deep teams losing players to injury and still winning. They had 7-8 players out at 1 time. I cannot find any NHL team that can have that many players out and still win on a consistent level. All while having a rookie goalie playing.

Might be time for Crosby to have his head on a swivel for the rematch next week. If the Bruins follow the old-time code, their best player, not Cooke will be the target and this genius of a Commissioner has given them free reign to get even. It might be a good idea for the Pitt coach to hold Crosby out of the game.

I want their best player(s) out for as long as Savard will be out and I will add in the time that Bergeron lost to cheap shots a couple of years ago. It is time that if you take one of my eyes, I take both of yours. Too bad that this team does not have the guts to do it. Milbury called them pussies before the Toronto game.

I agree....Lucic hasn't been throwing his weight around as much. I hope Thornton steps up to the plate. Should be an entertaining game and possibly an even better post-game to anyone wearing a Pens jersey :su

Lucic has been hurt for most of the year and currently has a broken nose. Others are more than able to fight and should leave Pitt blood on the ice.

Yeah, it's a credit to the NHL when I can honestly say that there is no such thing as an easy first round match up. I think the Kings could beat or be beaten by any potential first round opponent. But with 16 games to go and only a 9-point cushion, I am still focused on just getting to the show.
