So jacked for this game. May end up being forced to listen on radio over my phone. Hoping to catch some of the 1st and the last 10 min. Freaking work!
If the US takes gold this will be an epic year for USA Hockey. Anyway you look at there will be some national pride as the US will medal one more time, setting the record for the most Medals won ever in an Olympic Games. |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread

Congrats to our brothers from the north.
The game was an instant classic and I think shows that North American Hockey as a whole is amazing. I am proud to have my son playing this game already. Awesome win and I am very proud of our boys. They played with heart and never gave up. |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Not sure I understand the Wolski deal....
Maybe getting something before not resigning Wolski at the end of the year.... But my first thought is...in this years playoff battle....Phoenix just got better, the Avs got worse..... |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Wolski and the powers that be in Colorado were rumored to be at odds for quite some time.
|
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Maybe things went over the top on Monday night as Adrian Dater states in this article... But I still think the Avs got the bad end of this thing and gave the better end to someone they are fighting for playoff position with....
Mr. Dater's position is that both teams are taking a gamble, but I think there is only one team that is hoping for a "shake up" in the player they just picked up..... http://blogs.denverpost.com/avs/2010...anche%3A+Blog) "Something went very wrong after Monday’s game, in the relations between the Avs and Wolski. There are plenty of indications that the coaching staff and management were furious at the effort he put forth, and decided then and there to put him on the trade block. Wolski left the Pepsi Center that night with an angry look on his face. Stuff happens all the time, but something obviously went bad that night." |

Hawks stood pat with Niemi and Huet. Their defense will have to play the way it did midseason for them to have a chance in the playoffs, as neither goalies' dave percentage in impressive. Nice game tonight for Hossa, Toews, Keith and Kane. |

Blackhawks take over 1st place in the West by virtue of wins....but they have a tough stretch coming up with Vancouver, Detroit, Los Angeles, Philly and Washington. San Jose has Montreal, Columbus, Nashville, Florida and Anaheim, so the top spot may be short lived if Nabokov gets back on track. Oh...and Berschmoozi failed to score again tonight. He needs 10 goals in 19 games to hit 25. |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
apparently the Senators orginization has a few very classy people working there. Last night during the US national anthem they played a video highlight package of the Canadian Gold Medal win over the US. They are claiming now it was a perfectly timed accident.
I can only imagine the backlash if the Americans had won and something like this occurred here. Way to keep it classy Sens organization. |

I agree that the defense will have to remain in form. Both goalies have a save percentage a little over .900 but the GAA for both of them is around 2.30, which is pretty good, and speaks a lot about our defense as a team. |

Yeah, I think the Hawks allow the fewest SOG per game, so if Niemi and Huet can stop the puck at .900, we should be OK. |

On thursday I had the pleasure of taking my son to the Sharks Habs game. I have to say without question the Price played a great game and had the posts on his side as there were at least 3 clankers. One was from a penalty shot awarded when Hal Gill(yeah that one) threw Prices goalie stick at a boyle who was breaking in. That said the Habs players were the biggest bunch of complainers I have seen all season. Every stopage every penalty wah wah wah. The refs did not keep a handle on them or the game as the game progressed the game got very dirty. They missed/ didnt call a ton of calls as the game progressed getting worse and worse. As a result early in the 3rd period a late hit by Lapierre on Nichol which resulted in a four game suspension. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=520323 That was one of the worse officiated games I have seen in a long time. The refs seemed extremely intimdated by the Habs players and really let them affect the officiating. They openly argued with the refs for extended periods. Those on the east coast who see the Habs more, is this common place as to them crying constantly and arguing every call? Spoke to Nichol today at our kids game. He said he will be able to keep playing, though the injury will be with him till the end of the season. Mans game. |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Decent 1st period, Hawks capitalized on their chances but were giving the puck away WAY TOO often.
Zetterberg is hurt, you can see it in his stride. |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
All the bad things I saw in the 1st period came to fruition in the 2nd, and the Hawks will need a miracle to get back in this game.
Looks like Berschmoozi got hurt....not good for the Wings. |
