That's a combo I definitely won't do! I go for strong Nicaraguans if I've smoked.

Nothing dropped at Binny's yesterday besides finished whiskeys and some ryes. I have been hearing good things locally about Clark & Sheffield Barrel Proof. Sourced from 1792, it's bottled at the same proof as 1792 FP, which I like a lot. At $34, decided to take a shot.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it. I really enjoy the 1792 FP.

Stopped by a local store that’s across the parking lot from the restaurant I had dinner at. Wasn’t expecting to buy anything as I don’t really need anything, and this store puts a markup on things. You can tell there’s been a shift in bourbon buying when you see things like Little Book, Rare Character and High West Bourye on the shelf.

Good to hear. Tell 'em all to start buying aged gin. ;)

I was on my local USAF Base today and saw this. I'm pretty picky when it comes to finished whiskies, but they had it at a good price so I figured what the heck.

I bet it will be good, James, Maker's Mark does a lot of good things with the wood staves. Not like things finished in port barrels, honey casks, etc. I'd buy it at a good price as well.

Popped into Binny's for the Friday drop. They had this, so I took a flyer.

I opened the Clark & Sheffield BS last night, James. There is absolutely nothing "1792" about it. Rye spice and pepper at first, after it opened up a bit there was a hint of dark fruit sweetness, but not enough to damper the spice. I'll pay the extra $15 MSRP all day for 1792 FP over this one.

On a positive note, I found out the JD Heritage single barrel is from Coy Hill, which is a good thing. :)

Picked this up. Some shop didn't want their allocation, so a local shop got them instead

Yes, and I'm not inclined to jump through whatever hoops that might entail. Guess I'll wait for the movie to come out. :D
