Wings win, Wings win! Great game gonna be a real tough series. And yes that hit on Juri was brutal. A suspension better be coming. That aside go Wings!

bugmenot 05-01-2009 10:30 PM

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread

Suspension should be more than 1 game. The whole year the NHL was talking about hits to the head, and that seemed like a clear intent to injure... Glad the Wings won, though tomorrow I won't be so much of a dumbass with the times. Haven't felt that stupid in a LONG time.

Go to 1:10, and that is where they show it in slow motion. To me it looks like he leads with the forearm, and swings it while hitting. Need more angles to be 100% sure, but based on what I saw, it was an intent to injure.

imo he should be gone for the rest of the series absolutely horrible

We will see, the Perry elbow to Cheecho's head didn't get anything. NHL has a habit of being VERY inconsistent in things like this. They set the stage with the Brashaer hit, but who knows what they will do now.

EDIT: Just looked, and he didn't get a suspension.

Still think 6. Ward will steal them atleast one game I think. I expect one stinker from thomas for some reason. Dont know why.

To be honest with you I don't think Carolina has a chance?
The B's got great depth at all positions, and a lot more fire power. The Carolina players were scared shitless of getting hit by Lucic.
Staal has been a non factor, he can't do anything against Chara.
The key is for the B's to stay out of the penalty box.
But this is the playoffs a hot goalie can steal a series.

Hawks looked great, stole back home ice advantage...Looking forward to Games 3 and 4 in Chicago.

John. I know you're a fan, but the 'Canes were "scared chitless of getting hit by Lucic"? Seriously, this is the NHL....not too many "scared" players out there. Look for Carolina to make a series out of it. ;)

That was the reason for shipping Jumbo Joe out of Boston :r

I know. When he got traded it was oooooooo the sharks fleeced the bruins. Now its "wow I guess thats why the Bruins let him go so easy". I keep thinking Wilson was refering to Jumbo when he kept saying "There will be Big changes during the offseason."

Got to wonder. I would not mind seeing him go. I got to imagine there will be a few guys on the market. Those that dont move will likely be on the shortest rope imaginable.

:tpd: Wise words!

Carolina has their hands full... but it was only one game. I think the Hurricnaes have a shot if it goes to seven. If we want the Cup, we have to beat the best. I am expecting a better game from the 'Canes tonight. :ss

Joe, I am not ready to call the series over. The 'Canes scared me from the start due to the season record. Things have a way of equalizing. I expect a good and balanced series going forward.:tu

No matter what happens in the playoffs, Sharks got the better end of the deal. I can see why they let him go for basically nothing, but without that trade, who knows where the Sharks would be right now.

I wouldn't mind seeing him go at all, and would rather see him go before Marleau. I think Marleau plays to his ability in the postseason, while Thornton has the potential to completely change the dynamics of the game, and doesn't. I also don't see Marleau keeping the C, which I don't think is a big deal for him at all, in fact he would probably rather NOT have the extra pressure.

That first overtime for the Wings/Ducks game was exciting. Refs kept their whistles in their pockets, but that is expected. I can't believe the Ducks are getting so outhit. Wings did prove my point to go high on Hiller though.

I think James was going to the Wings game today, tough way to lose 6 periods in. The Wings will need to steal home ice advantage back in Anaheim.

Yep, there for the whole affair. Outplayed them all of OT. Just couldn't get one in the back of the net:bh. Great game and no worries. We will at least split in Anaheim. Go Wings!

I wouldn't be worried either, James. I think the Wings will take the series.

The only 6 period game I ever attended resulted in a Hawks loss, obviously many years ago. They cut off beer sales halfway through the 2rd period, so by the 3rd OT I was just ready for it to be over, win or lose....of course, that game was a 7:30 start, so it was a bit later.

The Wings will get it back Tuesday. :tu

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread

I thought the Wings outplayed them completely in the OT, as well as during the 3rd.

Ward just made a series of 3 amazing saves during a power play! Bruins have seemed flat today. I would say this isn't a good thing for the Bruins, as it gives Ward, and the rest of the Canes a lot of confidence.

Great win for the Canes. Managed to shut them out, and seemed in control for the parts I saw.

Can't wait for tomorrow's game! Hoping it will be another exciting one, and hopefully with the same result.

3 of 4 series split at 1-1.....some great hockey being played right now. :tu

Cam Ward stoned us tonight, The Bruins did not bring it the first two periods.
The B's got to crank up the intensity like they did in the third.

icehog3 05-03-2009 08:11 PM

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread

Ward stood on his head in the 3rd, the Bruins were relentless. Should be a great Game 3.

jamesb3 05-03-2009 08:24 PM

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread

He sure did stand on his head. Ward played awesome. Canes could steal another series yet!

Ward did play an amazing game tonight. If he can do that again the series will go 7 and I give the nod to the canes. Time will tell though.

Hope you got some good seats, Tom. The Hockey just keeps getting better and better!

Everytime I think I have seen "the greatest play" of this postseason, something else happens that makes me say "wow."

Looking for the Hawks to dispatch the Canucks... because they are the only team from the original 6 I want to advance. :r

Do you get seats on the glass to be close to the action, or do you like to be up a little ways to watch the game develop?
