I've gone through several tins. It's really good, but pretty hard to find.

Got a nice little holiday package in today from P&C with some goodies. VT meat candy is something I've always wanted to try as I've heard it's great as well as the eggnog. Frog Mortons Cellar just always seems to come up on here so I thought I'd give that a try as well. Really excited to try these.

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread

So a couple small items today. The rack was originally 75, then marked down to 50, I ended up getting it for 40 bucks, just needs a nice little rub down with Murphy Oil Soap...but then don't we all.

The Bull's Eye tobacco I got on a whim, I tried the Dunhill De Luxe Navy Roll and really enjoyed it, the guy at the shop said this would be more mild that that but I figured what the hell it's not that expensive.

They were out of folding stands so I asked if I could buy one of the ones in the cases that they were displaying pipes on, he couldn't find them in the system so he charged me 5 bucks :tu

The lighter, well I only have torch lighters at home so I wanted something more specialized for my pipes.

I might end up moving the pipe rack to the mantle.. sadly the mantle is painted white so we'll see.

solid start Adam. The LBF is one of my go-to blends for it's simplicity.

on topic, I picked up a couple tins of McClelland Black Shag from the 221b series and am in love. There is some strength but not enough to knock you down, very rich and extremely easy to smoke. Burns like a dream straight from the tin.

Yes sir, growing up our thing was playing cards at night, it was good cheap entertainment, every night I would play card games or cribbage with my mom. :tu

.
I agree. Great way to pass the time and be with family or friends. About 6 years back or so, I was playing with my mom. Dad was sitting in the recliner reading a book. Front door to their place up in the mountains of Pauma Valley was open. Quite night, with only the coyotes howling in the distance. No electronics were on. Mom was laying out some cards, counting off, and then started moving her pegs, and that is when I caught her "cheating." I said, "Hold on a second sister Suzy. I think we miscounted a bit here," and I called the old lady out. "You just cheated on your son. I can't believe it." Mom started laughing so hard, I thought she was gonna pee in her panties. I turned to my Dad, who was just sitting there shaking his head, and I said, "can you believe that crap?" He said, "and now you know why I don't play cards with your mother buddy!":D

:lr :lr Awesome!

When I was little and we'd play gin rummy and if I begged she would play crazy eights with me, then one day she questioned how I made every right play and I told her I could see the cards in her glasses, that I could always see them. :lr after that she went out and bought the big bold faced cards with the giant letters and numbers and stopped wearing her reading glasses when we played :D Good times indeed.

Great stories guys :) Made me smile and remember playing rummy with my Mother , Grandma, and great Aunts. Incidentally, My great Aunt Peg smoked a pipe. I was always fascinated by it, a large electric blue bulldog.

So after reading Penzance this and Esoterica that, as well as reading how it's bigger on the internet (phrasing), I shot over to my local Tobacco shop because people said you will have better luck at a B&M. I headed over at lunch time and was looking through the tins, I didn't even see Esoterica (of any kind) on the shelves, then I literally look down right next to where my hand was and ... BAM!! So I bought the five they had. Also while not technically my first tin purchase, I did a sampler off P and S that they are obviously delivering via Panda bear, this is my first tin purchase in hand. :D

Picked this up off of fleabay for about 50% of the price of one new out of the box, already figured out I really like the bent billiards and apples.

Loving the Savinelli, has a nice big bowl and smokes so well, wow a really good pipe makes all the difference in the world, well that and letting your tabac dry out just the right amount. :tu

Oh and not using the little balsa wood filter, I put the adapter / little plastic tube in instead.

Very nice pipe. They are only two pipes left I want to add to my stable to make it complete. One is a Savinelli. I have my eye on one but will wait until after Christmas.

Ok so I was cruising around Pipes and Cigars and came across the build it yourself tin sampler, how could I resist, I was looking forward to trying a couple of the flakes and I liked what I've had from the Seattle Pipe Club so I grabbed that and a Twain Bent and Country Gentlemen Bent (after seeing posts about them here). I think that's it I can only use the birthday excuse 10 or 15 times :lr

Nah, not an artisan type, that Santa Maria I bought is like perfect for me, love how it feels in hand, the bowl size, the bent stem, just perfect.. I'm easy to please. Just not really looking to spend 100s on a pipe when there are plenty out there that I know I'd like at a good price.. blah blah blah. :tu :lr

Those are decent tobaccos Adam.
If you head to Walmart at 6pm tonight it will be dead quiet. (Is in my town.)

I'd suggest Canadian Tire - but that might be a bit of a drive for you!!

Yah I need to go to a couple places so I figured around dinner time would be the best.

I have been to Canadian Tire and London Drugs, add those to my addiction to Hickory Sticks, though not a fan of HP sauce, I dated a girl in BC and spent quite a bit of time in Vancouver and White Rock :tu

Got two estates in today that I got for under $20 each. The one in front is a Stanwell Royal Danish, and the one behind it is a Weber Blackthorne. Both need some reaming and a polish but I am hoping they both turn out nice.

That's awesome, Pete! I keep looking on fleabay and thinking I should just buy a couple to learn how to restore on, then I end up on the web watching all these different restoring DYI videos. I think first for me is to get a reamer set and all the basic stuff that you need on hand. I need a hobby besides smoking cigars and working .. :lr

I really don't know what I'm doing still. It's amazing how much better they look after reaming, salt treatment, and a little magic eraser. I've been hanging out on YouTube looking at restoration videos for techniques. They are quite helpful. Now I'm trying to figure out the best way to polish the wood without a buffer of some sort.

Got a small but good order in. Two Stokkebye blends, the 52 Proper English and the luxury navy flame. AND some pipe sweetener. Looking forward to smoking the flame again and trying the proper English! Now I'm just waiting on my waxes so I can polish up my estates and I also picked up a tin of this years' Christmas Cheer.
