I was getting really, really tired of the local sports talk clowns saying 'Homer Bailey goes for his second no-hitter in a row, can he do it?'

I know it's hard to gin up excitement for baseball as a sport sometimes but geez, overreach much do we? :rolleyes:

Does Dusty know anything about hitting? Every time someone struggles he claims they need to be more aggressive. Someone called him out last night in post game about the Reds leading the MLB in first pitch swings-and-misses. It seems like Votto is the only one with any patience. :bh

Bailey has turned into a Jeckyl/Hyde type of pitcher. You never know which version you get on any given night.

I think the only reason that people expect greatness is because somehow he has pitched 2 no-hitters. :confused:

It's not just the no hitters. He shows the qualities of an ace a lot of times, then he'll "pull a Homer" for a while. Flashes of brilliance and maturity, then an outing that makes us wonder.

I'm glad that a national audience got to see what Reds fans see on a daily basis. He's a human highlight reel.

A lot of the times? He is mediocre most of the times I watch. Hell, he is 5-8 this year and has the highest ERA on the team. Flashes of brilliance make up about 1 in 10 starts, not even close to +50% of his starts. His defense behind him would make a lot of pitching look good. :rolleyes:
