Jim,
Just noticed.
When I select my mac.com email account, it says "mobile me" at the bottom.
When I select my bellsouth.net, it doesn't.
Yet, they both interact with my laptop.

.mac is sort of like the old version of mobileme. If you use the Mail application on your macbook (stamp icon) then it should sync regardless so hard to tell if you have all the features of mobileme. If you have it, then definitely set it up (you have to do it on both your macbook and iphone but is sort of hard to type up and explain if you aren't sure how to do it). You would see a cloud icon somewhere that said "mobileme"

If you need/want help I can try to help figure it out on the phone, just shoot me a PM

EDIT: are you sure it is activated on both iphone and macbook? You should get a prompt when it syncs and any pictures you take on your phone would come into iphoto and contacts/calendar stuff would sync as well.

Jim,
What I bought a year ago is "iDisk".
When you index that in Apple's website, you get "MobileMe".
I recall the email being about a change in name.
I must have it, just need to finish setting it up I guess?
Will call Apple at 10.

Re: Leave it to me to break another Apple device

Just went on MobileMe on Apple and asked for an email as forgot my password, using my mac.com id.
It worked.
Got the email to go back and log on.

Re: Leave it to me to break another Apple device

Got into MobileMe so I do have it.

I see my email, contacts, etc.

NOW WHAT???

Looks like my mail is just the way I see it in my regular inbox.
It is all the same.

Other stuff not backed up.

hop on your iphone.

go settings>mail, contacts, calendars>add account>mobileme and then put in your info. I believe you set up what syncs on your actually macbook.

login @ www.me.com from your macbook

When I did that on my iphone, it says "The MobileMe account is already configured.

I think it is due to my mac.com email address.

The www.me.com is where I was just at viewing my current emails, just the same as they are on my iphone and macbook.

Just noticed that if I select a photo on my iphoto and go to share, it allows the option of "mobileme".

I think it is all set as is. I just don't use it to back up or rely on it as didn't know it well enough.
Will take the tutorials later tonight.

Re: Leave it to me to break another Apple device

Boy do I now know I have MobileMe for sure.

When I first tried to access it via Apple.com, I didn't remember the password.
I didn't consider it to be the same as my "mail" one. Don't know why. That is just me.

When I got on MobileMe, I had to change it as I had to ask as forgot.
When I changed it, I made it different than my mac.com one.

Well, that messed things up and could no longer address emails in my iPhone.
Went back to mobile me and made it the same as my mac.com email account and all is back to normal.

Nice to find out I have things for $99 that I paid for, don't know about and have never used.:r

My cousin does Tier I and Tier II support for MobileMe at Apple. If you called Apple, you may've spoke to my cousin Abe...

Everything seems to be linked now.
I set the "update" on the laptop preferences to automatic.

All three things are synced, my laptop, my iphone and mobileme.

I tried to upload my photos (7 GB) and it said 47 hours to complete.
After laughing silly, I stopped the process.:r

Yeah but the uploading I am referring to is taking my photos from my MacBook and sending them over to MobileMe.
They are mostly large files as I shoot everything in 10 Mega Pixels.

you wouldn't want those going on to your iphone anyways...at least not all of them. Suck up too much space

Yeah, thought about that afterwards.
Interesting thing is that MobileMe allows me to upload photos that folks can access and view.

On the phone now getting an LG Dare for the wifey.
Need to keep her on Verizon for my daughter as the two are constantly talking and my daughter has a new contract with Verizon.
