Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
Ultimately, living out in BFE limits my pizza options. However, we do have this place and I love it (mostly because I can cook the pizza to my tastes, and the thin crust Deelites I'm digging):
http://www.papamurphys.com/ Do need to spend more time exploring the Portland area for good pizza joints. |
Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
Given the time and ingredients, I make the best pizza.:D

Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
Around here unfortunately we have chains. I like Barro's best. Although Canelli's down in Queen Creek is really good it's just too far.

Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
Sal's Pizza -- a bunch of locations in NH and Mass. (plus a couple in CA and FL) -- they built their rep on their famous all-natural, fresh-ingredient-only, 19 inch, 3 lb pizza. (and their "slices" are 1/4 pizza!)
900 Degrees - Manchester, NH -- gourmet pizza, more of a sit-down place though. |

The best pizza place I know of (that I ate at least) is Grimaldi's in Brooklyn. http://www.grimaldis.com/ http://photos.igougo.com/images/p261...-Grimaldis.jpg |

But being in southern NH, I don't get down to Boston much and so have to make do with what's around. (So I actually mostly make my own pizza from scratch.) |

I hear ya... If someone opened up a real coal fired pizza joint like Brooklyn and made their own mozzarella; they'd be rich! It's not difficult at all. Making Mozzarella is a piece of cake. Making the crust correct and consistent is an art, but can be done for sure. Upper Crust is has opened several places around Boston and they all suck. The crust is hardly "upper" and it's the same old crappy cheese. To charge $18 for a simple pizza goes against pizza as a food! |
Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
Although there are dozens of top notch pizza places in Brooklyn, two stand out as "best" in my books:
Di Fara Pizza on Avenue J and 15th Street - the guy imports his cheese from Italy and closes when he runs out. Totonno's Pizza on Neptune in Coney Island - Super thin crust but top notch ingredients and brick oven deliciousness. Anyone coming to NYC for a visit, get in touch, I'll hook you up with some good spare time wandering directions and will join you if life allows. |
Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
I'm going to go with one of my local favorites. Many don't know, but St. Louis has a "little Italy" of it's own and we here call it "The Hill" or la collina. My favorite pizza joint is Bartolino's. They are many to choose from but this is my favorite. If any inmates come to the STL area let me know and we will grab a slice of the best pie this side of Italia.

Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
I make no claims that any of these are "the best" in the nation (which is a retarded notion, anyway)...but these are joints I've enjoyed, and if you're visiting any of these places, they're worth checking out:
* Austin - I have three I frequent **Mangia - Chicago pie-style - http://www.mangiapizza.com/ **Salvation - Cracker-thin crust - http://salvationpizza.com/ **Southside Flying Pizza - Outstanding red sauce & oven-fired - http://www.southsideflyingpizza.com/ * Stillwater, OK - Hideaway Pizza (it's different/better than the ones in Tulsa and OKC) - http://www.hideawaypizza.net/ * Salida, CO - Amica's Pizza & Brewery - http://www.amicassalida.com/ * Chicago - the previously mentioned Giordano's |
Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
After searching around here for the past 10yrs, I would say don't bother getting a pizza in Seattle. You guys in NY are making me jealous and hungry though.

Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
My favorite of all time is Luciano's it's about 30 minutes outside of pittsburgh. (used to work there as a kid). Here in NC there's not much but micahelangelo's in Jacksonville is decent. When I was at Ft. Devens there was alittle shop right off base that had excellent calamari!! don't know about the pizza though.:tu

Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?
Colorado Springs, CO - Roman Villa on Nevada ~ pepperoni and jalapeņo
Colorado Springs, CO - Fargo's on Platte ~ Sophia Special Denver (go to Idaho Springs if you can) - Beau Jo's ~ order your favorite Drove around the upper mid-west since the early 2000s and never really found anything comparable. Bar pizzas, mostly, darn-it! Had a great one in Chicago, but can't remember the name. Ummmmmmm Pizza:) |
Re: What's your favorite Pizza Joint?

Santarpios is pretty good, I do not like going to that neighborhood too much. The lamb kebabs are famous there too. You must try Pizzaria Regina in the North End! Just get a plain pizza or the rake you on the price big time. Cash only too. Regina is got to be the best overall pizza in the area. I think they use a coal fiired oven. |
