No way.
If I need a down coat for 40's, there is not enough layers I can find for single digits.:D

I forgot to factor in windchill....probably in the negatives out.

Do you know what wind chill is?

Here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_chill

Isn't that what comes out of my air vents in my house nearly 365 days a year?:r:r:r

In fact, need to run out and get some "wind chill" while in my car.:r

LOL, jerk!

I haven't had "wind chill" in my house in 13 years! there were times I wish I had but we survived even Portugal without it.

Oh, oh.

Two cold fronts coming.

Expected low for tomorrow night is 37 degrees.
Our houses were not made for that.:r
I may have to turn the heat on.
Can someone please tell me how I do that and how do I find out if I even have heat in the house?.:r:r:r

King James 02-03-2009 09:18 AM

Re: Any sympathy for South Florida?

was going to ask....does your house even have heat?

Blueface 02-03-2009 09:20 AM

Re: Any sympathy for South Florida?

May have to find it and turn it on tonight as will be 43.
Do I need gloves for that low temperature?
Will I be able to throw water in the air like Pete and watch it vaporize?
Should I go buy some boots?
Anyone care for hats? Ski masks?
Wow! This is rough.:r

The only reason you should need a ski mask in South Florida is if you are gonna rob a 7-11, Carlos. ;) :r

This is no longer humorous.

Just heard a weather update.
The low for tomorrow is now expected to be 34.
Not sure if we will make it through the night but we need to be prepared.:r

Wow!

Can't even wish to recall that.
Was up there in Chicago a few years ago when it was -7 before the wind chill and similarly, in Indy when I happened to be there the week of the Super Bowl celebration for the Colts.

Not nice.

Orlando expected to be around 17 tonight.
34 for us in South Florida on the coast. Expected to be much, much lower inland. Darn gators better take shelter.

I went over to the controls and tried to figure out how to turn on the heat. Can't find the manual.:r:r:r

:tg Let's see.....Cincinnati, Ohio just received another 4-10 inches of snow. Lot of us would be happy with the 40s.

Those guys are going to have a rough one tonight.
Lots of crops will be damaged for sure in the mid to northern portion of the state.
I think as long as it stays above freezing, they should stand a chance.

I hope they do...for their families sakes, and because I love Florida oranges. :)

Re: Any sympathy for South Florida?

Well, just got the latest projected low.
Looks like freezing at 32 for me on the coast.
North and Central Florida is screwed.
Inland from me will likely be in the 20's.

WHO said something about Global Warming?
What is that stuff exactly?

Carlos I did not sign-up for this. They did not mention anything about below freezing in the brochure I read. :fl

Tony,
They just said with windchill, we will be around 23 to 30 on the coast, with 15-20 inland.

Just imagine, if there is a bit of rain, we will have snow in South Florida.

I'd cover my bird of paradise plants, but haven't found 15 foot sheets.:r

This is good once in a while for me. In case I am ever tempted to move back North, I put my head outside on a night like tonight.

Be back in the high 70's this weekend.

And Carlos, Karma is a *****! Enjoy the cold!

Does suck for the orange farmers though... hope they don't lose too much.

Blueface 02-05-2009 06:57 AM

Re: Any sympathy for South Florida?

Most of my area down to Miami saw temps below freezing last night, plus the wind chill onto that.

The northern part of the state sucked!
It was 17 in Jacksonville.
It was 22 in Pensacola.

That is freaking cold for us folks.

Just finished removing all the covering from some of the plants I protected last night. Quite nippy out there for this guy. We are now up to 36 and warming. It has gone up about 5 degrees in the last 1.5 hours.
Expected to be back in the mid 70's by Sunday. I see the light at the end of the tunnel.:r

That sun does wonders.
Two to three hours later, we are up to 45 from 31.
Starting to thaw out a bit.
I can actually feel my toes again.:r

Looks like the worse is over.
46 is the expected low for tonight.
Then back into the 50's as a low through Saturday, then in the 60's per Tony's post, with mid 70's as a high.

Back to the Florida I know.
