Last time they done that was the cup year :D

First time in NHL history two teams on 14 game point streaks faced one another.

I had Rask in net in fantasy, so I was happy with the outcome. :r

You done well grasshopper. Rask is playing his best hockey.
I think having a very good backup that almost took his job motivates him?-(P

Hopefully he motivates him in the playoffs, that's where he can struggle. Of course by then, the fantasy league is over so I have no dog in the fight. :)

Going to be a tight finish!

Heck of a 2nd so far for the AVS in a big game(points) that they ended the 1st down 0-2.

Not to far from Playoff Hockey!!

Re: NHL '18-'19 Season Thread

Avs looked really good tonight, and getting Gabriel back for them was huge. Varlamov looked good tonight and Grubauer has been solid. I guess you'd likely get Calgary in the first round, that series will have a ton of speed.

Bummed that the Hawks missed the dance again, but I'm a hockey fan first and foremost, and I can't wait for the playoffs to start.

Why wouldn't I, Johnny, Hawks are out, I like the Jets, and Neil was generous enough to set me up in style. Plus you like 'em, and I like you. :D

Re: NHL '18-'19 Season Thread

I'm hoping the team thinks they're playing pre-season games - because they aren't impressing me too much lately. Everyone else is roaring into the playoffs and the Jets seem to on cruise control because they're on top of the central. Poor Comrie got ground up up the Wild - hasnt played an NHL game since the pre season of 2018. Team didn't help the kid much. Ouch.

Anyway - whiteout gear recovered form basement. Looks like we'll have home ice as the Blues slid a point.

Let's see what the Avs are packing tonight......

IN!!!

Hellebuyck has played well for the Jets, was worried they weren’t going to get one, let alone two by him.

What a great game, glad I picked that one. Neil, your Boys ain't on top tonight, though they still could be on Saturday night.

EJ, congrats on making the dance. I think they'll give Calgary a series. :tu

Nashville got a huge win last night. Ryan Johansen said after the game that he "can't wait to play the Blackhawks because we like beating them here at home."

LOL.

The best game of the year was the Tampa-Jets game that traded goal for goal clear into overtime!

So the Jets have “had trouble getting in Binnington’s head”.
Time to activate Big Huff - he has a more direct approach to the problem:

Love me some Buff.

E.J. must be on Cloud 9 after that whoopin' the Avs laid on the Flames tonight.

Although not as bad as the whoopin' Ovechkin laid on Svechnikov.

Was so AWESOME! Extra cool with the Makar story. Kid wins the Hobey Baker Friday, plays in the NCAA title game Saturday, signs with the AVS and flys to Denver Sunday, scores a goal in his 1st NHL game, which happens to be a Stanley Cup Playoff game on Monday. That’s a Hell of a 4 day swing. Watched game two in Vegas and that was amazing as well.

Can’t believe Tampa Bay just got swept.

Re: NHL '18-'19 Season Thread

Greatest 4 day weekend ever for Makar. His first NHL shot, even. :tu

Tampa might have been the worst collapse I've ever seen in hockey. Tie the all time NHL wins record, then get completely dominated for 11 of 12 periods by the 8th seed. Wow.

Not disappointed to see the Penguins swept. ;s Scott.

Tampa played like they knew they were the best team playing the eight seed and just expected to coast to victory.

I stand by it for how they looked heading into the playoffs. If it makes any difference to you, 14 of the 16 NHL experts on NHL.com picked them too.

What I do still predict is that Nashville won't be there. :lr

Another comeback, OT win for the Avs. They are looking fast, and they'll have to be if they end up playing Vegas next round.

Thought I already posted on that win, guess not. Pucks bouncing for the AVS right now and I’ll take it. Nuts game, probably one they “should” have lost. Down 2 late(7M) in the third and send into OT, get win. Kinda like game 2, getting the late goal to get to OT. Their doing what they need to do vs a #1, keeping in and grinding. Been fun so far.

Vegas struggles tonight.

icehog3 04-18-2019 11:30 PM

Yeah, Sharks brought it tonight but I don't think they can beat Vegas 2 more times. I'm rooting for that Avs - Knights matchup, I think it would be great hockey, an fun too.

If the Bruins keep underachieving I'll be looking for a new team to root for this year. I'm leaning towards Winnepeg or the Islanders.

Islanders are definitely fun to watch, I wouldn't mind seeing them make the Final. Washington will be tough too. I'd love to see and Islanders - Blue Jackets East Final.

In the West, I just can't root for he Blues. Vegas, Colorado or Dallas would be fine by me. Colorado - Vegas should be a great semifinal....sorry Sharts, no chance you win three in a row against Vegas with your goaltending and defense. Pavelski would need to score 5.

The Bruins put together a good game today. They still spent too much time on their heels in their end, though. Should be a good game seven.

Bruins were sloppy with the puck on and off. They gotta stop that big time.
As an aside, NBC's coverage sucked. Intermissions were all ads and some dude's head was blocking the view in the third.:emo2004

Best part of the game was my wife yelling at the TV. I've created a monster.;)
