Quite the downer situation with the NHL, just when I thought that the NHL was make progress in the US another labour stoppage will kill and likely moved that progress backwards.

I can't really comment about the whole situation but I do hope that they get it resolved faster then what I think its going to take.

One thing that is for sure is that there is going to be some great hockey in the AHL this year. Some big name young players will be floating around, Skinner, Eberle, RNH just to name a few so if you have a chance make sure you check it out.

How are Skinner, Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins available to the AHL without clearing waivers, Matt?

It's because they are all on 3 year Entry Level Contracts and have played less then 160 games in the NHL.

The number of years exempt from waivers and the the number of games played are based on at what age they signed their first NHL contract.

No problem waivers are actually quite complex especially when you factor in re-entry waivers. :tu

Gary Bettman and the NHL are pretty serious about their gag order on any comments to the media from within NHL organizations.

After more than a week of stalled talks between the NHL and the players' union, there appears to be some hope that negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement will resume this week. Formal discussions are "likely" to pick back up Friday, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun Tuesday.

That is a great read indeed. I too, have seen Michael on TV. I sure hope for him and all other kids (children and adults) the lockout passes and hockey begins soon.

So from what I hear it sounds like the players won't even begin to negotiate if the salary rollback is on the table. Lots of people that know much more then me wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the season is toast.

On a slightly lighter note I found what could be the unnoficial "Lockout Song"! Enjoy!

Thank goodness the Icehogs play here a few times a season. Looks like that and my own hockey may have to carry me for a long while.

That's certainly a cup half full type of attitude!

It figures that the NHL is cancelling games in the one season that I have been excited about the Wild in the past 6-7 years...:sl

I tend to watch a lot of games at night after work. Live stream dont work for that. GCL allows for watching all games in condensed form 20 minutes or full games. You can also watch games days later.

But for many of the euro and Russian leagues yes streaming is very handy as is live nhl games if you can watch when played

Kid changed teams a month into season. Long story coach was an Adam Henry. Now playing for Santa Clara Valley Blackhawks. Will post a picture when he gets his new jersey.

I don't see any similar speculation anywhere (not that I looked all too hard :)) but Al Morganti and Keith Jones cohost an AM sports talk radio station here in Philly, and they suggested this morning that something is in the works and we can expect the season to start around Dec. 1. Both are known to be jokesters, but they seemed to be genuine.

We can hope....

TORONTO - The NHL has presented a new offer to the players that it hopes will end the lockout and allow for a full 82-game season.

League commissioner Gary Bettman says the long-term deal will split revenues with players 50-50 across the board and takes steps to guarantee the players will get full value from their existing deals.

Bettman says under the deal the season would start Nov. 2 and each team would have one additional game every five weeks in order to get a full season in.

Bettman says the proposal is now in the hands of the NHL Players' Association. The union has requested time to look the proposal over.

The current lockout is just over a month old.

The season was to start Oct. 11, but the two sides were not able to come to an agreement before then and the first 82 games of the schedule were scrapped.

This is a step in the right direction. A few months ago, Lou Nanne, a very well connected former player said that this is what it would take to make a deal. I hope he is right.

Lets wait and see what real offer is? I'm sorry I don't believe a thing the owner say they could be just blowing smoke?

But I do think they got a wake up call with so many star players playing overseas for decent money.

Re: NHL '12 - '13 Thread

There are other sticking points...One year longer to wait for free agency, revenue sharing disagreements...but this is a very good starting point.

Re: NHL '12 - '13 Thread

From what I have read about this offer, some of the problem with it is that the new CBA could affect some current contracts. So, they need to hammer that out, but I'm optimistic.

The players are dug in and not going to get bent over again.
The offer the owners made was to make Donald Fehr look bad,not going to happen.
My guess no hockey until late December,if it happens at all?
