Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Thieves guild was way too easy to go through. Just started on the Dark Brotherhood quests and it may be a better challenge for me, since I'm inclined towards heavy armor and 2 handed weapons......although my sneak, lockpick, and archery are pretty good too.
I will say that I liked the quest lines from the previous two games better. I miss the fighters and mages guilds, and they definitely took more time and effort to master. I've already effed up the college quests because the guy I need to talk to is locked in a ruin with no way to get to him lol. |

On a side note, you know you've been playing too much skyrim when you go to city hall to pay your water bill and you ask for the jarl.....:D |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I'll take it though. The pacing is so much better than Oblivion. The rate at which vendors restock is nearly Monty Haulish.
I think tonight I'll grind smithing, then enchantment. I keep running out of petty gems. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I hit level 48 last night. I finally realized that you unlock the new shouts by actually spending the souls. I thought that they unlocked when you hit a certain # automagically (it says something like "Renew: 30" - turns out that is 30 SECONDS until you can use it again. I'm a moron.). Been having lots of fun with my new found abilities :)
I'm at 96 archery, maxed out sneak, maxed out pickpocket, maxed out smithing, 85 light armor, and I just hit the 100,000 gold achievement. I play this game way too much. :banger Posted via Mobile Device |

Things just keep dying too fast :p After getting trounced by a couple giants early on (right outside Whiterun) I've been avoiding them like the plague. Last night I finally decided to knock off a couple of the giant bounty tasks I had. Snuck up, THWAP, dead. Orcish dagger with flame dmg on it. I just stood there and blinked a couple times, then spent an hour or so giant hunting. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Ok, it was time. I backed up my save game directory and started the Imperial Legion line. So far so good. But the AI of having a 'team' drives me nuts. Can't swing around a pair of swords very well with companions yelling at me to watch it.
No seriously guys, stand back and let me get the deathlord, otherwise he's just gonna kill all of you and I'll have to get him anyway. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Went through the Imperial questline. Fun stuff, but like I think we've found out about all the faction quests, it was a little too easy. Now that it's done, I'm surprised how little it really affects the world. I suppose it makes sense though.
In the meantime I tagged smithing 100, so I've got my dragon scale armor and have made a couple daedric daggers (with daedra hearts courtesy of the Mehrune's Razor line. Where do I get more?) Now I just need to get enchanting pinned so I can double-enchant stuff. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I self limit myself. I played the other night for about an hour, just leveling my blacksmithing, enchanting and alchemy.

So I started a mage, there must be something I'm missing as it is painfully hard. Level 14 mage Destruction/Conjure/Enchanting so far. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
So I just picked this up for PC, and yea I wish I had more time to play it. Only level 5 right now but it's all good. Had to order the guide off amazon cause I seen it for $10.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Almost level 16....pure mage is nearly impossible. It's so painful. I'm still convinced it can be done though.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I did the entire Thieves Guild line last night.
My depth perception is hosed. Heading off to Pops Havana House East in Fishkill to smoke some yummy. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Yeah the thieves guild stuff was pretty easy, just a bit time consuming. How amazing is this game? Only issue for me is everytime I try and finish a quest, somebody redirects me to something new....

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Yeah I leveled my sneak up way high and now my level is up too high and has out paced my equipment... OOPS, oh well, time to find areas to lvl up easier.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
heh. finished the Thieves Guild quest, slept in my bed in Riften for probably the first time and found myself in an abandoned shack ;)
I know what I'm doing tonight. *fetches the caffeine and pizza* |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Nice to see this thread here! I don't know what possessed me to buy this game....well actually it was probably reddit, they love the game....but in any case I'm very glad I did. I am not a big gamer, especially RPG's, but I wanted to get a new game and this one was calling my name. I haven't played any of the other Elder Scrolls games, to compare, but I really love this game. Got it after the first of the year, believe I'm at level 8-9 now, and really love playing it. To give a point of reference, the last game I played with any frequency was TF2 :D

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I lost Lydia. I'm not sure when, or where, but she was slutty anyway.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Glad to see some other gamers on this forum. I have had a lot of fun with this game, but actualy it has been best to give to my fiance and let her play for hours so I can go to my computer and play all the other games I want without her bugging me that I don't spend any time with her. :D

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I really need to reinstall this game, any patches out yet?
As far as the other Elder Scrolls games, they advance a great deal with each new game. You picked a good time to jump in, Skyrim is SO much better than Oblivion. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
There has been a few patches.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I've been playing Skyrim on my PS3 since Christmas. This is my first RPG (I usually play FPS') and I'm really impressed. Gotta like the unbound environment! I've already completed the main quest line, College of Winterhold, Dark Brotherhood, Companion and most of the Thieves Guild (I don't want to give up my skeleton key yet :)) I guess I'll have to pick a side in the civil war now. My save file is over 11MB and am starting to have frame rate issues. I hope they patch it soon. Besides that, solid game!

See I never used the Skeleton Key. I dumped my MMOs last weekend and went back to skyrim to start a pure mage. it's.. TOUGH, but fun :). I'm still not sure why I shouldn't be using heavy armor as a mage, once I can enchant it with all those juicy robe enchantments and all. |

I'm playing as a Nord right now. Going the pure mage route sounds fun for a second go around. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I was tempted to make the second roll a full heavy armor 2-hander. But I realized that with my primary at L54, I can just do that on the original toon.
I've tended towards Imperials. Just like the look of 'em the most. I figure on the pure mage the trick is going to be Conjuration/Alchemy/Enchanting. Some of those Conj perks look juicy. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I got a pure mage at level 17....it's rough. You run out of magicka VERY quickly.
I'll make a heavy armor two hander next for sure. Still rolling with the Khajit at level 53. Sneak and bow is easily the best combo in Skyrim. I planned for back up daggers but never used them. Most everything is quickly dispatched with the bow. Dragons take maybe 6-8 arrows. Should be able to cut that in half by level 60-65. |

I noodled around with 2h a bit and man do you blow through stamina fast. It's crazy. |
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I saw that as well, although my bow Khajiit is like 700+ life / a mere 190 Stamina, 2 attacks is all I get with a 2 hander. Seems like that build would be rough.
I enchanted all my gear with +% bow damage. Sneak attack 3x puts me at about 1K per shot. |
