Regardless of what they were, I've seen worse. If they were Opus and some of the larger sizes, then it's not bad at all. Any smaller opus or any Anejos would be overpriced at that price, but not too offensive compared to others I've seen. I wouldn't buy at that price unless I was only getting a couple.

Those were Anejos...about 6 by 48.

I'm okay with it, as I've never had one and I couldn't find them any place else. Not sharks, but xtra viejos. Its cool. Tinderbox in lakeland lilkes to gouge the prices, but it could be worse.

there is another shop if you want to drive into tampa. cigar castle and they always have opus and anejos and they are a couple of bucks cheaper. they generally have all sizes in stock.

now if you want them really cheap but only two at a time go to ybor and visit tampa sweethearts. you can buy two at a time at MSRP which is less than 10$ for whatever size you want.

I couldn't live near tampa sweethearts, the temptation would be too much for me! It's bad enough getting the tempting emails. I would be divorced, broke, or both!

A rumor I just heard last night was that Fuente was shipping more Anejo's to stores that are payed up to Fuente then to stores who owe them . Don't know how true this is but a store by me has gotten at least 5 boxes of Anejo's(1-#55 , 1-#46 , 1-#50 and 2-#77"s), 3 boxes-Hemingway Maduro's , 3 boxes-Opus X and 1 box of Hemingway Between the Lines . They usually don't get that many Anejo's and have never seen the BTL's there before .

it depends on the volume of the dealer really. a local who charges too much got 4 boxes of anejos, btl's and a box of sig classics. the next shop got 10 boxes of anejos, btl's, woam, sigs, classics and UTS. they also got a second shipment. the messed up thing is that this is my usual shop and they were suppose to get more than a few boxes of opus. the newmans messed up and sent their opus to a different shop with the same name. the shop refused to give the opus back and now they haven't gotten any opus besides the tins.

BTW, they are doing some higher quality and rarer releases this time around because they aren't shipping as much in quantity to some places. some dealers who usually get a few boxes might not get any this year.

Guys, I just got back from Orlando on a business trip and had the pleasure of visiting the Corona Cigar Company. If you guys are looking for Anejo Xtra Viejo, Opus X, or even God Of Fire, they are LOADED with boxes upon boxes of each. They told me that they had stocked up on them moreso than usual because of the fear of the impending tobacco tax that would make these already expensive boxes even that much more expensive. They literally had Opus X sampler boxes stacked 5 rows wide and higher than my head (I'm 6'2") on an endcap in their store! If you're in the Orlando area, I highly suggest you stop by here. :tu

Yeah, I noticed I was paying a LOT higher than any price I had ever paid at a B&M for anything in there. I guess you're paying for atmosphere and convenience. However...their customer service is amazing, I must say.

Was just in Northern Indiana (Mishawaka) at a TinderBox, walked in looked at their selection, wondered around. Then asked if they had any Sharks, the one employee looked over to the other they kind of shared this odd look and said, "well we had a box but we sold it already" then they just kind of smiled at each other. I knew they were lying to me, it really pi$$ed me off. Don't know why you would hold back stock from paying customers :fl

The Union Cigar Company in Gettysburg apparently only got one box in. They had them when I stopped by, but the employee said the owner was keeping them for a few customers. I would have never even known they had them if the employee didn't say so. I appreciated his candidness, and told him so. I really don't mind the owner holding them for a few loyal customers. I think it's an OK thing to do, and really can't fault him for it.

I can fault him for the $19 Power Rangers though. :D

My Tinder Box has been amazing!

They got in misc boxes of Opus and Anejo's and have been putting a two per customer limit on each vitola to make sure more people get a chance to buy some.

And all of them are maybe 10% over retail and that's it. Not too bad.

Probably put 'em aside for their regulars, David....lots of B&Ms take care of their regulars on this kind of stuff.

So, what's a good price from #49s & #50s???

Best price I've seen for either is $19, and that place was sold out.

I have read the talk here of $35 being outrageous. So, what should be a good price?

Taken from vitolas.net:

1. No.49 (7 5/8" x 49) ....................... MSRP = $9.50 x 25 per box = $237.50
2. No.48 (7" x 48) ............................. MSRP = $8.75 x 25 per box = $218.75
3. No.55 (6" x 55) ............................. MSRP = $9.75 x 25 per box = $243.75
4. No.77 aka "Shark" (5 5/8" x 54) .... MSRP = $9.25 x 20 per box = $185.00
5. No.46 (5 5/8" x 46) ....................... MSRP = $7.25 x 25 per box = $181.25
6. No.50 (5 ¼" x 50) ......................... MSRP = $8.00 x 25 per box = $200.00

But remember that doesn't include sales tax or state tobacco tax.

According to the site, those were MSRP as of January of 2007. Prices may have gone up.

OK, now we have the MSRP. What are prices out in the real world? What should I expect for a good price. I was doing some more looking and I found numerous sticks over $25 each.

Some places will charge MSRP, while other place charge way more. Unfortunately being limited to a couple of shipments each year, places that sell at MSRP tend to sell out quickly. I personally would never pay $25 for an anejo. If you are buying in WI, then it prices should range from around $9ish up to $13ish, plus sales tax.

You can call or email Tampa Sweethearts and ask them to email you their rare singles list. They usually have several sizes of anejo (and maduro hemmingway, tubed opus, etc) at MSRP, but you have to make a qualifying purchase of $25 from their boxes and bundles, and there is a limit of two of each size.

I pickup up a box of 46's and a box of 49's at MSRP. they still have a good supply of anejo's but sad to say they didn't have any sharks. Maybe next year...

I payed $13.25 each for the 5 Sharks I bought in NJ . I can get them cheaper at Holt's but have to pay parking and a train ride so it pretty much evens out , also Holt's usually has a limit of 2 but this year it was 3 when I was there so it would take repeated trips to aquire any quantity of Anejos . My local B & M lets you buy all you want on everything . Never a limit and always honest about what is in stock . :ss

The place that hooked me up earlier in the day let me buy some more as they were closing tonight. Very nice. 8 Opus X and 10 Anejo's, along with 2 "Between the Lines." I should be done shopping for a while . . .

Same place I was able to grab Anejos from today had Power Rangers for $10.50 a stick which is still not msrp but at least they aren't bending people over the counter. Geeze, that's bad. Glad I have a handful along with a handful of Super Belis otherwise I would have spent a ton of money today. They had a bunch of sizes of Opus and also had what looked like Double Coronas in coffins for $25 a pop. They also had the 2008 Holiday Samplers too. If it weren't for Christmas, today could have been very ugly.

A B&M near me has a box of DCs, no coffins. Likely the "A" (9 ¼" x 47) which comes in an individual coffin, and has an MSRP of $25.

In Cape Coral, where my parents live, about 2 hours south of Tampa. They still have 1/2 a box, as i bought all i could afford :/

Still, they are beautiful. I asked they guy what gives, and he said that is what he sold them for. They were the same price as much of his other Fuente stuff, but he knew what he had. He knew they only came once a year...

I'm totally stocked up (IE, Out of money), but i just heard a rumor that there is an anejo boxed set, featuring a cutter, 4 cigars, and some other stuff for $42.00 at the Tobacco Depot in Plant City, Florida. One of my friends frequents there. Might be worth looking into if you live in the area...

MSRP hasn't gone up since then. Fuente doesn't raise prices too often. When they raised them in 2007, it was the first time in several years.

You poor thing!

I've been using what used to be my mostly empty quarantine desktop as overflow and it'll be full when my 50's come in the mail in a week.5 or so. I refuse to go beyond the vinotemp for now. I did play a mad game of tetris yesterday.

I bought from TS, and got a few limit two here and there (well, I got them once and so did my wife since it's by her work). Then I talked my way into buying a few at the place that was only selling to regulars because I was there again this week. It ends up, without really trying too hard, I probably bought half of what I bought last year, which is still more than I intended.
