Re: Origin of User Names?

Many years ago, I had to choose a user name for an on-line gaming clan. Keyser Soze was the "mystery" badass in the movie The Usual Suspects--no one really knew who he was. Kinda like me being on the internet. So I changed the spelling and voila. Just got lazy and used it for alot of my on-line accounts.

First cigar I ever had made me turn blue in the face.

OK, not really where it came from.

My user name is as result of one of my favorite saltwater fish in my tank.
The Blueface Angel.

Mine was chosen because it was a game I really enjoyed and played quite often. That was back many years ago when I first joined ASC and ICG cigar message boards. I still play poker every weekend to this day.

Nickname I acquired years ago when I was heavily into paintball. It was the sound my SMG-60 would make. Also came from a character in the movie Summer School. And it sounded mean. ;-)

13 is my lucky number. Was the my jersey number in baseball and hockey.

LOL!!!

I got that a lot at first since the album came out about 6 months after I came up with the screen name. People started using it a lot so sometimes I had use issues1975.

I used to travel the country quite a bit. I was also quite surly, burly & bearded. The title amused me & it just stuck around.

Correct me if I'm wrong Tom.

Cool idea for a thread.

You are wrong, Andy. :r

I actually had the user name icehog3 on a hockey forum years before the Rockford Icehogs came into existance....but I did steal their logo, and Jeof personalized it for me.

ice = hockey (I play and am a huge fan)

hog = Harleys, and my job (cop)

3 = My hockey number

icehog3 :)

Well, when I was a stupid kid in high school (this is 10 or 11 years ago), my friend and I were trying to figure out what we wanted our hacker screen names to be, the idea was we were both going to choose a famous assassin from history, then add 2600 on the end (a quarterly magazine dedicated to hacking).

Well, our grand plans of "hacking the planet" (:r) never came to fruition, but the screen name stuck and I've used it ever since :p

Name, former profession (no longer an active CPA, so I'm probably violating some sort of ethics rule as a result)

Also my screen name from back in the AOL days.

My username started back in high school when I was big into breeding reptiles. Kenyan sand boas were the first snakes I was successful breeding...and breeding multiple morphs. I have yet run into the "Username is taken" message using it, so it stuck.

It would be a safe bet that if you see a KenyanSandBoa on any forum or online gaming network...it's me. :D

"Catfish" because I like to catfish. "2" because when I came over from the other site (which shall remain nameless), I wasn't here early enough to be the original one. I really wanted to work myself up to silver-back at the other site, but I never made it before I left.

Re: Origin of User Names?

My Ex-Wife ( the 2nd one ) called me Cyclone because of what my office looked like when I got busy on any computer projects.

I've had a variety of nick-names when I was younger that I never cared for...

This is only Nickname that I've liked...

Unfortunately, Cyclone is frequently already taken on forums so I'll use Cyclone1963 ( my birth year ) in those cases.

Re: Origin of User Names?

Akumushi is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for "evil" and "insect" and its origins lie in long and convoluted inside joke from the days of my high school Japanese class. As it is complete jibberish in a foreign language, I can always count on the username being available.

It's gonna happen. I count on it, brother. :)
In days past, people would just go ahead and butcher it and I'd correct them. Then, for a time, people would politely ask. Now it seems the trend is that folks try to trick me into saying it.
It's cute, really. :)

Others started calling me Triple F for short, so I put in a request for a name change and the rest is history.
