Haha that looks amazing. I have a smoke hut very similar to that only it houses about me and one other BOTL. It came as part of the house and living in the mountains its gets kind of cold. Cant wait to see it all completed.

I was going to fire one up tonight, but I am beat... the exterior is complete (Except for Paint) I also ran the Conduit (Underground) for the Elec. and Cable from the house to the "Shack" including punching through the walls.

I didnt stop to take photos and it was too dark when I stopped working so I will try to get some up tomorrow.

On the menu for tomorrow: Pull power and cable, install outlets, hang lights, take some photos & have a smoke... Thanks for all the support thus far!

Thanks! I put Concrete anchor bolts down and attached the Floor framing (Treated 2x6's) to it then put the floor Sheeting down (It will stay with the House)

How sweet -- I realize you spent a lot of work on this, but I find it amazing how much you've done in such short time!!

Thanks Man... I had 3 days off so I wanted to bust it out... I have some really good friends that work hard for Beer (as long as I pay them after and not during the work) things went really smoothly.

I hit a snag today, I made the mistake of using 1/2" conduit to run the elec. and couldn't pull the wires from the house to the shack. Spend most of today fighting that and scraping my knuckles on the brick! So I sat down and had an Illusione ~cg:4~ and got light headed (realized I hadn't eaten anything) Finally got it worked out and did the wiring inside to all the outlets & lights. I won't get anything done for the next few days so I can rest now!

Wish I had a bigger back yard. If I built one of those, my dogs would barely have room to make rockets.
;)

Very nice work!

Re: Building a Smoke Shack

Are you doing drywall and insulation throughout? And are you adding a space heater or other heating unit after the shack is "finished"?

Still looking pretty good :tu

Re: Building a Smoke Shack

I like that crazy looking propane heater. where did you get that? Does it work well? Sheet rock in there would be great!

Pipe&Cigar 11-13-2008 07:45 PM

Re: Building a Smoke Shack

Chippewa: I wasn't going to insulate it, but decided that if I was covering walls I would put insulation in... So Yeah I am insulating it. In the Garage at my Ex's house I installed an Empire Direct vent heater and it works great, I ran it on a thermostat and kept it at 60F during the winter. I may do that here (Who knows at this point) LOL

Chris: The Propane heater is very simple and hooks onto any propane tank. I just have to run it for 10-15 minutes and have to turn it off. I Got it at a local HVAC store a friend works at. We mainly use it to warm the kids hands at little league football games. I will put the Sheetrock up tonight!
