If anyone ever wondered about the construction of a Diesel take a look at this:

This pic was taken after 1 hour 23 minutes in...

Tasty and holds together perfectly!

That's funny that you had that impression of this smoke. The first one that I smoked I lit it and for about the first 1/4" I kept saying, what the hell is the hype with this cigar, I'm almost ready to put it down and pull something else out of the humidor to smoke but shortly there after the flavor started to pick up and I really enjoyed it. The second one was a lot better out of the gate so I figured maybe the first one was like that because I literally smoked it two days after it got here so I chalked it up to being in transit and needing to settle down. They are definitely a good little smoke and for the price point you really can't go wrong. It's one of those sticks that if I start smoking it and need to put it down never to finish than I won't feel as guilty like I would should I be smoking a $6 or $7 stick and have to put it down early. By the way I spent money I shouldn't have by having a buddy call and tell me he is ordering a box and asked if he should order me one to save on shipping. What's a guy to do my arm was being twisted?:D

So after reading this thread I smoked one of these had been given to me; never had one before. I was pleasantly surprised...a very good smoke.

I have a 10-pack of these that I got right after the release. They've been resting patiently because it's too frickin' cold to smoke. This week it might warm up a bit and I think this will be the one I try, you guys are making them sound pretty good :)

I've still got 3/4 of a box from a few months ago when I ordered... I think I'll dig one out for my monday lunch smoke..

Cigarbid has some Diesel boxes available. I don't know if the quickbuy price is still applicable since there are already bids, but this is a good deal.

I believe QB is good up until the next bid would be higher than the QB price. I'd jump on this if I had the cash. It's 2/3 of the way to retail with 3 days left. I guarantee some morons will bid this over retail.

Re: Backordering Diesel Cigars

These tend to go over retail as I have been watching them and the people that have been saving the most money on them are the ones doing the quick buy option. Cigar Bid is notorious for going over retail but some of the lots I have been watching lately have been ridiculous. I guess it's been a blessing that I have not been able to score any deals over there lately. If going the C-Bid route I would just do the Buy it now price as that is still almost $13 savings.:2

Goldie 02-21-2010 11:33 PM

Re: Backordering Diesel Cigars

I have seen some go over retail which is foolish to say the least. Especially whenever CB has an Anejo or an Opus.

As far as this price, $87.50 is pretty good. And if the Colibri cutter from CI doesn't mean anything to you, it makes sense to go this route.

Jump on it. I just paid $100 from CI!

It is a thing of beauty isn't it?

The sticks wrapped in burlap inside look pretty sweet as well! :tu

Re: Backordering Diesel Cigars

I had my first one a couple days ago, urged on by this thread.

The construction was impeccable--perfect draw, perfect burn, and the ash held for over 1/2 the stick (ashed only the once). The flavors were good, but the stick needs more rest for the flavors to coalesce and smooth out, imvho. I think that with some rest these could be VERY good cigars for the money. I'm glad I got a 10-er.

I dunno. I prefer the Diesel, but the Reposados are pretty damn tasty too. Plus you get 40 for the same price as 30 Diesels.

True, But There Is A Big Difference, IMO. Which Reposado do you prefer?

I've only tried the habano. I haven't had a chance to try the maddie yet, and I'm not a big connie fan, so I probably won't bother with those.
Decisions, decisions. The Diesels are great, but those Reposados would be great golf smokes. They last forever. :ss

Hmm. A bad cutter is a bad cutter. At least it only cost $1. Might as well chunk it - no use risking harm done to a beautiful smoke :ss

I got a clean cut off of mine, the only problem I have is when you push the button to release the blades one of them sticks a little bit.

I hate that word rest. I am giving mine a few days to acclimate, then I will try one. Maybe even tomorrow night. Does anyone know how long it takes a cigar to get acclimated to its new temp and humidity? CI says it stores at 70* and 70%. I keep mine at 70* and 62%.

I smoked one ROTT, same day, and it was ok but a little over-humidified.

I think it took about 2 weeks to get acclimated to 65% and they were smoking much better as far as flavor. :tu

I have a hard time believing that they are shipped at 70% because mine arrived pretty wet, however I could be wrong because I am used to my sticks which I store at 65%

Mine were quite wet.

Some of them had the celo stuck to them from over-humidification.

Re: Backordering Diesel Cigars

I'm thinking they may be a little fresh. Wondering if they had to bump up production not expecting these would be such a hit out of the gate and they shipped to CI wet.
