My sister-in-law's boyfriend told me he had this on draft at a restaurant on Saturday. It's back! I'm headed to the store tonight on the way home. This is my favorite time of year for beer drinking.

I used to love Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen when I first started drinking beer. Wonder if it's still any good.

I'll have to pick up a sixer of SA Oktoberfest to try out.

I agree, this is a great time of year for beer drinking! Has to get further into fall before the experience really peaks.

The 2010 fall mix pack is awesome. The Cherry has been replaced by Harvest Pumpkin Ale. Not sure if the Brown Ale is still in there but the rest are still there.

Just saw a few cases walk out of the shoppette over here. I'll be stocking up tomorrow after this typhoon passes through.

I might have to try this one. I was looking for a good brew the other night with the girlfriend, she pointed this one out. But I said I wasn't sure since I haven't had it.

Picked up a 12 pack - drank 4 of them. I thought it was pretty darn good.

Available @ Vons for a couple weeks now. I'm on my 2nd 12-pack :)

It's not a bad brew, although I am partial to Sammy. I'm not a fan of the winter ale though. Boston Lager and Boston Ale are my go to beers most of the time.

Bought a sixer of the sam adam's octoberfest. It was rather "meh". I actually prefer Michelob Marzen to it.

Saw it at the Arrowhead Total Wine (Phoenix).

Waiting for it to get to Costco. I did pick up a case of Spaten Oktoberfest at Costco.

It started shipping here in NJ this past Monday. I expect a case to arrive in store tomorrow. As I still have a few squirrelled away from last year (and have been promised a few "samples" from my rep :D ), I'll not be buying any soon, so you're welcome to it. :tu

This is excellent news. It's a long drive to Jersey, but I appreciate the offer. I'll be checking the stores around here this weekend.

Well I'm in the minority I guess. I hated both Winter Lager and Summer Lager. In fact, the only Sam Adams I really enjoy to drink is Noble Pils. Actually, their Imperial Stout is decent as well.

No such thing, brother. Diff'rent strokes. That's why Kellogg's makes Variety Packs. :tu

Say, does Kellogg's still make Variety Packs?

I just had a couple pints of Oktoberfest at the bar last night.

I'm not sure which is the best S.A. beer but I know which two are the worst,
I'll always drink a Cherry Wheat and the Cranberry Lambic when I want a :sl and a :pu respectively.

Re: Sam Adams Oktoberfest

I just stopped at the store and asked when it would be in. The guy told me he TURNED IT DOWN because it was too early. As he was turning white from me choking him, he promised me he'd get it next week for me. Then he sold me spaten, which I'd been wanting to try. I know others swear by it, but it isn't doing anything for me. Next week can't come soon enough.

I really can't do the noble pils... i feel like I'm drinking a glass of potpourri.

The winter beers (Chocolate stout, old fezziwig, and the winter ale) are my three favorite of the seasonals.

I have to confess that I didn't know that - I just know I like the beer.

This. It was horrible last year. I have pretty much moved over to Spaten Optimator now. I may get a 6er of the SA Oktoberfest to see if it is better this year.

Side note, DogfishHead Punkin will be out soon . OH YEAH!!!

I had some last night on draft at the bar. i was kind of suprised it was out all ready but i have never paid much attention. The bar tender said they were getting alot of their October beers in next week along with Southern Tier Pump -King which im pretty fond of. :noon

ChicagoWhiteSox 08-12-2011 10:06 AM

Re: Sam Adams Oktoberfest

Draft is much better than bottles IMO. Although either way, this beer is still underrated by beer geeks. I'm just a fan of German style lagers in general.

Re: Sam Adams Oktoberfest

I happily stumbled across it at Meijers last night and couldn't wait to get home. I really enjoyed it, as usual. I agree with someone who posted in here that last year's was a little sub-par, but this stuff was spot on. I'll be a happy beer drinker for the next little while.

Is there a difference between the Oktoberfest and Octoberfest? I had the Octoberfest the other night. It was ok.

Sam Adams uses the English-ized "Octoberfest" appellation rather than the correct German "Oktoberfest". So if somebody is selling Sam with a "K", it is as counterfeit as a glass-top Cohiba.

BTW, I did NOT get the case I ordered last week, My rep was just in here, and said they sold out of the first shipment of bottles in two days. I was assured I'd get it in tomorrow, since they just got another thousand cases in the warehouse. Then there will be one more shipment, and no more until next year.

If you like Pumpkin beers you should try Weyerbacher's Imperial Pumpkin. It's my favorite of what I've tried.

I didn't care for last year's DFH Punkin. I understand they tweak it each year, so I'll probably give it another try this year.
