Asylum is banished from txt at CS...puff

Under my screen name it should read Int. Asylum Gorilla, but instead it reads
Int. ***** Gorilla

Also, the whole Dave thing and Emporer Capu..... is the Asholeo things that go on there. They are still growing and people are still joining, but that is neither here nor there.

As for the Drama. Everyone (Other than Dave) that I know came here from CS. So where is the difference, other than there are no certified vendor advertisements (these by the way got me into the whole cc world directly, after talking with some people that I met thru CS. We all know no one gives up their sources to strangers. If a couple people (mods) didn't tell me the advertisements were legit It would have taken me forever to make connections to those sites.
Oh yeah, the pretty colors are here.

I Love CA, don't get me wrong, as I love ICC, & ya know puff is fun to run around in also. It reminds me of when I was more of a noob than I am now.

Why can't we all just get along, I wonder. Hey I was NEVER on those other two boards, but I've seen this $#!+ before elsewhere. Friends of mine got banned from the old JRBB (before Steve Saka finally shut it down inna middle of the night) for the slightest little snub that got a bit outta hand - but at least they had the excuse of being tied to a business site legitimately. So summa the old guys there started up herfer's paradise, then soon started slappin' their friends around like Hitler did Poland, with bans left and right. So then another schism in the church of the leaf spawned the cigar rebellion, which seems to have died of natural causes.

Hell, the best things cigars have done for me is teach me how to sit down calmly and relax, yet it seems like this peace cannot translate to the web. Just one word I'd like to leave you with - Ommmmmmmmmm.

Oh. I did find the Puff forums recently and posted a few things there, but if the admin is that dick-like, I'm glad to get a heads-up before investing a lot more time and energy.

I must say I missed the old CS, but that went away in October of 2008. :)

One difference is that the "owners" of this site don't lie to the members. :2

I can tell you where the difference is. This board has "aged, well seasoned members". We all know each other, some personally, some not, but we all respect each other. It's not a group of wild animals who rant and rave over member count or advertisement endorsements. I haven't seen a fraction of the pile ons, or drama wars that I used to see on CS. Now the Team of 11 just terminates it before it develops. High five guys for all the work you do.

That's my :2 on the difference.

Another is that the "owners" of this site don't delete posts, close threads and ban members simply because they post something they don't like about the site.

No, actually at the end of my stay there I was starting not to care anymore. Our decisions on how to run things were being "overruled".

The differences might be subtle at first. I think it's the general attitude and demeanor of this site that has such a positive vibe with the members best-interests in mind.

and by that ^^^ I mean that there's not some guy only tryign to lookout for himself by herding a bunch of members together so that he can go use that "high member count" to go to companies and say "LOOK, LOOK, advertise here, i have alot of traffic"...

...That's why we don't even have advertisements here, We're trying to break away form the money-making and focus more on building relationships/friendships in a community full of true enthusiasts.... who like gurkhas

:tu:tu:tu

PS - in regard to what Pnoon wrote in post 69 ^^^^

You are absolutely right, he (Jcap) tried to play "gestapo" and hush up anything that was negatively opinioned towards his site/ideas.... that's crappy in my opinion

wow, really Tom? that's so bush league...

i'll tell you the main difference, in my mind, between the two forums. the discourse is more intelligent over here. here, there are dozens inmates who i can identify with and whose opinionions i respect and who create thoughtful posts. posts, that typically inspire some really good dialogue. over there, it's much more... basic, for lack of a better term. nowhere near as though-provoking as the asylum (in most cases... there was that little diddy about shaving one's ass...). every now and then i'll go over there and lurk, read a few things and reaffirm my decision that this is the place to be. hey, look - i can actually type PUFF and not get ****!

and i don't even want to know what the casino cash is all about...

to summarize:
jon is "he who shall not be named" (<--borrowed from vin's contest op) and Tom is our harry potter, think that sums it up, could have used any of the 11 as harry but artistically i felt hogwarts uniform would fit Tom best :D

haha yeah. I have the old CS banner ads to thank for my introduction to CCs.

As for the differences, you're right that most of the people here came from CS but I think this site benefits greatly from the focus on community and friendship instead of trying to be the biggest or most extensive, revenue generating site. I like the fact that CA is not trying to be the most popular cigar forum on the web. There are still plenty of highly active members here whose collective cigar knowledge and experience far exceeds any other site I've been to.

I checked out Puff the other night after reading this thread and I really don't care for the layout either. There are just too many links and videos and rss feeds and advertisements and polls, etc.....the list goes on. I much prefer the 'keep it simple' approach.
