Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I have only used Colibri - seems to catch fire and burn - gonna see if I can get some jet fuel from work - I don't think that will impart any flavor to the cigars hehehe
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Vector Triple Refined. Never had a problem when using this!:ss
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I am now using Vector since I forgot to order more Lava on my last Atlantic order.
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Have some vector but been using Lava some years now.
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Vector or Colibri.....
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Colibri, but I just ran out, so whatever I can find today.
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Colibri, Xikar, Vector...
No experience with Lava Tom |
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Vector Triple in all my lighters............although they all seem to be empty at once lately :D
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I use Ronson Butane in my JetLites, and it works fine. Never a problem to be spoken of, other than me brutalizing it with a wood chipper once.
For my good lighters, I use Colibri or Blazer fuel, as both are triple refined and are fairly cheap. |
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
colibri
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
LAVA, five times refined. This is the ONLY type I use and I love it!!
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Colibri or Blazer fuel. Both seem to work great in my all my torch lighters.
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Lava. used to use colibri, but i have better performance from the Lava
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I use 5x lava, I have not used Vector but just sent some to someone in a bomb, :r:r . I used one can of Colibri, as it can with a lighter purchase. It just didn't last that long, so I haven't bought anymore.
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I bought some Lava from Atlantic when I ordered my Blazer lighter but man I cannot seem to find one of the nozzle adapters that work well.
No matter what I do I get the crap all over my hands while its filling up. Anyone else notice this problem? I thought I must be a dumb ass or something that I cant fill my lighter without soaking myelf with butane! :fl |
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
ZIPPO here.
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Is Lava being sold anywhere?
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I heard it was gone late 2010, at least that's what Lavabutane.com says.
They now advertise Tattooworks 5 times refined butane, anyone heard about that one? |

Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I use FasFil 5x Refined for my picky lighters (Lotus, most triple-flames) and King or Ronson for lighters that aren't so picky (Ronsons, soft-flames). I can get both FasFil and King from the same Discount Tobacco (i.e. cigarette store) for $4 and $2 per large can respectively. The King is 3x Refined and would probably work fine for all my lighters, but for $4/can it's not much mor to go with the 5x stuff.

The filling stems on the cans suck though, you have to use the included adapters to be able to fill most lighters. Speaking from personal experience, the stems are really thin, not using the adapters can expand the nozzle on the stem making fitting it to any lighter or adapter a PITA. |
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
For my Thunderbirds, I use Vector. Same company, works well. For my Ronson, well....Ronson. May get some Xikar at the Good B&M next time I'm there. Kinda pricey, though.

Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I have been using TattoWorks butane as well. It works well and none of my lighters fouled like they used to to. The price is pretty good and you can order it online.

Telling the difference visually is very subjective. In the same lighters, the Tattooworks appears to perform better. It's noticeable, but not an earth shattering difference. I'm not a big user of torches, typically I use a bic, so I can't comment on the long term results of heavy use, maybe some of the other guys can comment there. Quote:
FWIW, I've been advised to avoid the TattooWorks cans with the colored backgrounds, like the ones found on ebay. Allegedly, they are knock off cans filled with a lower grade product. The legit cans have black backgrounds as seen on the lavabutane site. There are, IIRC, six or eight different tattoo designs and when you place any of the legit cans side by side with the knock-off, it's really obvious how poorly done the knock-offs are. |
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I use Xikar butane.
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Xikar for me.
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Lava or Vector. Anything that's refined more than 3 times, and isn't expensive..
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
vector and lava
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Xikar
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I've now switched to King for all my lighters, including Xikar, Lotus, Black Ops, an eBay Dupont knock-off, and several lowly Ronson Jetlites.
I still contend that the Ronsons throw out a larger flame and sputter less when modded and turned all the way up with Ronson fuel, but I've found myself caring less and less lately about total flame height/strength as long as it's a solid and sharp flame (where my Xikar Eris excels). |
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Now why is it that I keep thinking of Brando in The Wild One?
"Hey Johnny, what are you rebelling against?" "What have you got?" Since I've started using Jetlites instead of "good" lighters, that's been my mantra. :r |
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
I used Colibri, but now since I've gotten nicer lighters switched to Vector
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Vector here. Only on my 2nd huge bottle.
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
Another vote for Vector. :tu
|
Re: what kind of butane do you use?
