Fox just stated they are waiting to confirm but have indications all are survivors and all off.

Whole lot to go in this year so far but I nominate that pilot for hero of the year for now.

They have it strapped and held by tug boats.
No way they can let that plane head south, specially towards the Verrezano Narrows Br.

The way they have it strapped and the size of the tug boat next to that plane, that thing is not going anywhere. That, coupled with the pilot's amazing job of gently laying it down on the river without damage to the fuselage appears to be the saving grace. They are saying he had no engines. He glided. Not sure how valid that is but that just makes it even more incredible they all survived.

+2, unless there is another pilot that is able to miss the geese all together!

The plane is now almost completely submerged!

Re: US Airways Flight Down In Hudson River...

Back half of the plane is under water already.
Only part afloat is the front area that is being held up by the tug.

They are now confirming both engines went down.
That pilot indeed glided that plane down.

Just saw this on yahoo; horrifying. At least there don't seem to be fatalities.

Passenger saying that Pilot said "Brace for impact, we're going down!" They smelled gas on the plane after the engines blew!

Re: US Airways Flight Down In Hudson River...

FAA just confirmed pilot lost both engines.
Was nevertheless able to turn the plane around and prepare it for a water landing while gliding.

OK,
We need to lighten things up now that God was with all those folks and are now dry and safe.
The plane can be replaced.
The pilot and the emergency folks are true heroes.

Now, for the humor.
They say a flock of geese caused it.
Some say it was a flock of these things.
