Yes, that is an excellent thread, I highly recommend it. :tu

Think of this as a blessing in disguise, Jason--if you hadn't spilled the beer, you would never have realized that your humidor was leaking like a sieve.

Not saying I've ever acted on those impulses, I was just telling Adam that sheep were much more attractive than goats. That's all. Nothing weird about that, right? Right? :r

This is an extremely good point here. If liquid can penetrate between the glass and wood that easily it's not sealing very well in the first place. Try the suggestions for removing the glass and then make sure you get a nice bead of silicone on there when you put it back. You may end up improving the seal. Or just toss it and get a 500 count...and a cooler...and a cabinet...and another cooler. You're headed there anyway, might as well get a head start on it.

Re: Drunk Humidor

um...I think everyone is missing the true opportunity here...

HAVE YOUR WIFE BUY IT! Obviously it is your wife's fault:
the facts:
1. You were drinking, which she FORCED you to do!
2. She gave you that little twinkle in the eye look and said, "put your beer on your humidor and get over here big guy"
*NOTE* you would never put a beer on your humidor, full of scrumptious cigars, without the influence of your wife and pumpkin ale!!
3. You started messing around, and the lumberjack of a man that you are caused you to toss your wife in the air and HER foot knocked it over...on purpose probably (she could have controlled that foot better!
4. You quickly became sober...its your cigars for christ sake!

Analysis, I think she is either:
1. Wanting a divorce and doesn't want you to enjoy cigars.
2. She needed something to buy for you for Christmas, and it is part of her plan (I like this option better!)

Either way, keep it in the coolidor and save your money for more cigars...give her the guilt trip! :banger

Maybe that's what's wrong with my humi, it is a glass top, but the previous owner never had any problems, I am so depressed about my sticks hardening.

well it seams the press wood soaked up most of it and I don't think it has affected the cedar much so I will let it dry and in the process I will take it apart and seal it with silly con

Re: Drunk Humidor

So I tore apart my glass top 50 count yesterday to seal her up. There was only a drop or two of something around the glass (on 2 sides) so this thing was a leaky SOB I'm assuming. I tried to get some pics but the flash kept them from coming out clear. It's officially sealed up and was pretty easy to do. I used 100% silicone that had a minimal smell to it. Letting it cure out a little while longer, package said it takes 24 hours, going to give it a little longer.

Did you try to turn the flash off :r

Just :gary man. Glad you got things taken care of...Note to self, humidors do not have built in drink holders for a reason!

Rinse the top under running water for a good while and dry it off. It'll be fine. :tu

Re: Drunk Humidor

well there was a time when I thought my humidor was a good little box.
now after what was said here I just got around to checking the glass
tightness and sure enough you can wiggle the glass s.o.b.
but also the seal is just crap there is a gap in the seal strip of almost a 1/16
that allows the 2 strips to move so no chance that will ever seal good.
but what is making me mad is this humidor
http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/...s/downsize.jpg
was given to me was purchased for 5 dollars it has a nice swoosh sound when closing very nice seal.
but now I know why I needed a oasis in a 150 count humi it was the only thing that could keep up with that leaky bastid
