what about the Alaskan Duck Fart? It's what the crab fishermen drink, so it must be a manly cocktail.

Bond originally drank Vesper
Quote:

Origin

The drink was invented and named by fictional secret agent James Bond in the 1953 novel Casino Royale.
"A dry martini," [Bond] said. "One. In a deep champagne goblet."
"Oui, monsieur."
"Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?"
"Certainly, monsieur." The barman seemed pleased with the idea.
"Gosh, that's certainly a drink," said Leiter.
Bond laughed. "When I'm...er...concentrating," he explained, "I never have more than one drink before dinner. But I do like that one to be large and very strong and very cold and very well-made. I hate small portions of anything, particularly when they taste bad. This drink's my own invention. I'm going to patent it when I can think of a good name."
—Ian Fleming, Casino Royale
The novel goes on with Bond telling the barman, after taking a long sip, "Excellent ... but if you can get a vodka made with grain instead of potatoes, you will find it still better," and then adds in an aside, "Mais n'enculons pas des mouches."[1]
Bond eventually calls it The Vesper, named after the novel's lead female character, Vesper Lynd. A Vesper differs from Bond's usual cocktail of choice, the martini, in that it uses both gin and vodka, Kina Lillet instead of the usual dry vermouth, and a lemon peel instead of an olive. Although there is a lot of discussion on the Vesper, it is only ordered once throughout Fleming's novels and by later books Bond is ordering regular vodka martinis, though he also drinks regular gin martinis.
He's also drinking them on the plane in Quantum of Solace.

I want to drink Pink Squirrells with my BOTLs. I would also like to see a Grasshopper and Fuzzy Navel drinking contest between the Hog and MCS.

I don't need to define what's cool by a beverage, but some of the sillier ones listed here made me laugh.

Again I'm quite an aficionado in the booze world, but a noob in the cigar world. This brings me here to get a handle on my new addiction.

I drank enough tequila to kill a whale Thursday and Friday at a herf, and not a smidge of hangover, Bill. But I ain't an aficionado, I'm a machine. ;) :r

Except for the martini and possibly the sazerac that's got to be the gayest list of "manly" drinks possible. Why not just add sloe gin and coke or strawberry daquiri to the list?

I know I'm old and out of step but as a former bartender it's my firm opinion that good booze should, with very few exceptions, never be mixed with anything but water (still or sparkling), tonic, or ice. And bad booze should be left for teenagers or women.

It is and it will give you the mother of all hangovers too. But is it manly when you have to order and then tell them how to make it?

 I wish people would get over this notion of guiness being super thick, it's not. The nitrogen (as opposed to CO2 in other beers/styles) is what gives it that thick/creamy mouthfeel. Its a 4% dry stout, it's not a big, thick, high abv RIS or anything.

Bourbon. Rocks.
Why is it manly? The manliest trait of all is that state of being when you have no reason to go out of your way to prove your manliness. Understated, calm delivery of the request, "Bourbon, Rocks, Please" leaves no doubt as to your masculinity; and shows that you aren't going to stoop to requesting pansy drinks with "manly" sounding titles to prove anything.

This, but I don't know anything about these rocks you speak of.....I've heard of bourbon and a glass......But I couldn't find the glass. Bourbon is the ultimate man drink.

Nicely done, I got out of tequila perhaps a revisit is in order. Having a high alcohol tolerance rules, been on a bourbon kick lately though.

I was gonna say the same thing.

I prefer vodka martini's, no vermouth, extra dirty. And if they have them, garlic stuffed olives.

Or, scotch with 2 ice cubes. Jameson is my current fave budget scotch whiskey. I choked down a glass of ancient Ballantine's a couple days ago.

Hell, even at a music fest I attended last weekend, all I really had to drink alcohol-wise was Svedka screwdrivers in the morning, and Crown and water on the rocks for the rest of the day. With a decent selection of sticks too :tu

Not commenting on quality here.

But I have witnessed a shipping container full of booze get busted open by a crane.
Many of my fellow Longshoremen were sopping up the spill with their greasy work gloves,
safety vests, and dirty handkerchiefs.
Then wringing the booze out in their mouth.
Probably not delicious, but manly as hell!

:tu Man law, no booze shall be wasted. Good work! Although....that would've given me a heart attack no doubt.
