It's called SmartSide Siding (Lots of different options I got them in 4x8 sheets)... It holds up well to the elements. I will still need to put Exterior Primer and Final Paint over it. http://www.lpcorp.com/sidingtrim/lps...cts/panel.aspx I got the roof up and the tar paper down, but it was too dark to take photos. I hate these short days! |
Re: Building a Smoke Shack
Did you pre-make the trusses for the roof or did you purchase them? In my discussions with BengalMan, that may be something I know the least about. :tu

Re: Building a Smoke Shack
You bet you could, just buy the rolls of Insulation and tack them between the 2x4s then put up the dry wall (Make sure you run Elec. etc first). I didn't put an roof overhang on the front or back (Lazy) so I had to put some "z" Flashing where the SmartSide Wall meets the Gable to prevent water getting in (I will take a photo tomorrow) I decided not to vent through the roof/shingles but will be putting in a vent of some sort into the gable (Haven't thought that far ahead yet LOL)

Re: Building a Smoke Shack
First off thanks everyone for the comments... Groogs I have made them with the cross support in the past also, This being a relatively small building I wasn't worried too much about Load Bearing. I may add cross beams down the road (If I start loosing sleep over it LOL).

Re: Building a Smoke Shack

Re: Building a Smoke Shack
Def. want to see that Z flashing you are talking about. So, is building this from scratch cheaper than buying one of the kits from home depot and then putting it together? Sorry to threadjack, but I remember you posting that most of your building materials were leftovers, so its def. cheaper for you.

this looks cool, to bad I don't have a yard!

Re: Building a Smoke Shack
WOW! That looks very familiar! I built a 10x12 'storage' shed that has only been used to house my lawn mower. But when the weather gets cold and the 'wind comes sweepin' down the plains', it turns into my 'Gar Den Shed! I am in the process of putting in some insulation and paneling and even making a wrap around bar on two of the walls, and shelving (for storage) on another. I am running some power to it also from an existing 20amp box just to run a shop light and a heater, previously I just ran an extension cord into the shed. I've had as many as 4 guys in there smoking and the one window opened a bit allows smoke to find a way out. I'll try to post some pics later.
