:hm, didn't know Darrell had a movie review blog. I'll have to check it out. He usually has good taste in movies (from what I've seen here).

Rumor has it that Adam Sandler was originally cast for the lead role in this film. Don't see him fitting in from the previews. I like a lot of Sandler films, but I think the choice to not cast him will probably help this one.

I do enjoy most QT films...even the ones that are not my favorite have some aspects that I enjoy. I look forward to this one :tu

This looks like a great movie along the lines of The Dirty Dozen but with more blood and guts.

QT films are kinda hit or miss with me. I saw the trailers a couple of times today and I'm looking forward to it. :tu

Love QT, even Kill Bill I and II. This is the first move in a long time that has me excited enough to see it in the theater.

I heard it was a talk-fest, and that the trailors are misleading (making it seem more action packed than it is)

I wanted to see it, but I'm gonna hold off

I am picturing the Dirty Dozen crossed with Hogans Heroes and Pulp fiction... and I kind of like where that takes my brain. I will see it.

Wouldn't surprise me, its a QT movie. Thats one of the things I love about his films, is the dark, twisted yet intelligent and witty dialogs.

Yep, definitely looking forward to it. I've enjoyed Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, True Romance and the rest and hope this one will be on par with PF.

Oh, and I'm REALLY hoping there's another Esmerelda-type character. :dr :D

QT was on Letterman Monday night. He said he normally has 2 or 3 choices for a role, but he specifically had Pitt in mind for this one.
Something I never noticed watching the trailers unil Letterman mentioned it: the title of the film is actually spelled Inglourious Basterds.

That's a different role than the one Sandler was allegedly considered for. Pitt's not really the lead, but he's the lead as far as promotion is concerned because the other leads are relative unknowns.

“You probably heard we ain’t in the prisoner-takin’ business; we in the killin’ Nazi business. And cousin, business is a-boomin’.” ~ Lt. Aldo Raine

That line is one of the many great one liners from Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine, the Commanding Officer of the “Basterds” a group of soldiers with one mission, deploy dressed as civilians and kill Nazi’s. Brad Pitt was AMAZING as Lt. Raine – Quentin Tarantino said when he wrote the part he usually has 2 or 3 people in mind for the part, but he only wanted Brad Pitt to play Aldo.

Pitt had me laughing, wanting to cheer, and rooting for his character the whole movie, he really stole the show. Eli Roth of HOSTEL fame played Sgt. Donnie Donowitz aka The Jew Bear, a Jewish American Soldier notorious for his brutal method of killing Nazi’s. Did I mention that one requirement for being a “Basterd” is providing Aldo with 100 Nazi scalps? Awesome!

Tarantino really outdid himself with Basterds. The movie is funny, action packed, dramatic, and fast paced. I did not get bored at all during the movie and found the story to be interesting and not just another “Kill Nazi’s and Hitler” type cookie cutter war movie. The score in the movie was awesome, their were scenes where the score really added to the drama of it and sometimes the humor. Let’s not forget about the bad ass fight scenes, scalping scenes, and everyone loves Tarantino for his graphic kill scenes.

I give this movie 9/10 stars, the only reason I did not give it 10 is because their was once scene where they were eating strudel that I found totally unnecessary and felt it did not have any place in the movie. Oh well, go out and see this movie RIGHT ****ING NOW, because it was awesome.

:tpd: Darrell summed it up pretty good. Brad Pitt and Christopher Waltz were great in every scene they had. (And i agree, the Strudel scene was really unecessary, especially with the all close ups)
