I have been feeling like being a terrible person and going wed night and yelling the ending =( I am still bitter that the end of the book was ruined for me because I wasn't able to read it right after it came out.

Good thing I don't really feel like getting arrested and wont actually do this

I was set on seeing it tomorrow, but then I read that the IMAX version opens at my local on the 29th. So I will probably wait for that. There is no damn way I'm giving that thieving, over priced theater more than one ticket's worth of money (probably :)). Being a huge Potter fan, I don't know if I can wait another 2 weeks to see it.

saw it last night at special screening, very good, if you read the books you'll notice some big parts missing.

I would expect nothing less. The absence of Peeves from the entire movie plot has been a continual disappointment. But, you take the movies for what they are, theatrical interpretation of novels. They get what they can in a profitable time format.

The more I think about it, the more I think I will see it today after work. HBP is probably my favorite book with OOP being a close second.

Well, I saw HBP after work yesterday. Theater wasn't too crowded, so that was good.

Overall, I would say a great movie. I think they missed the mark on many things, but it's the movie, not the book.

Did anyone else go and see it.

I saw it last night. It was good, but I wouldn't say it was great. It certainly doesn't surpass Azkaban as my favorite of the movies. Some bits were funny, but it seems more like filler, tbh. I dunno. Maybe I will read the book again and then go see it on IMAX?

I saw it last night as well. I wasn't impressed this time around. It was long and it just seemed like it never got to the point.

I definitely felt like it lacked the momentum and urgency that I got from the book.

That one part in the movie made me and everyone else in the theater jump like hell though! You know what I'm talking about.

Overall, I don't think the films have detracted from the books much at all. A few differences, but nothing major. A two hour film just doesn't have enough time to cover all the things that happen in the novels (especially the latter three novels). I'm a fan of both the novels and the films.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I'm surprised so many people here liked HBP (novel) as much as they did. It wasn't bad, but the last two books of the series felt rushed, as if Rowling were put on a deadline by the publishers.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I did sense urgency, but I took it as time was running out for Harry, just 2 years left of school and so many H*****xes to find. The feeling I got was the ****'s hitting the fan, and things are in motion that can't stop. To me it seemed like the movie didn't convey that at all. To me HBP was the magic world in chaos, but this was seriously underplayed in the flick.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

yea I didnt get any sense of urgency or anything in the HBP film as I had in the other films. I haven't read the novels, but I guess I need too.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I feel like Rowling got too big for an editor, and that's translating even worse to film than it did for the books. The film wouldn't make much sense if you hadn't read the books, and even so, they spent too much time on fan service, and not enough time on moving the story along. I was extremely disappointed. There were many good moments tho, and my kids, who have memorized the books, enjoyed it.

I wasn't impressed...:( it def was not my fav of all the movies...but then again it wasn't my fav out of all the books either..I'm still a huge fan of the Tri-Wizard cup.

I've struggled watching the last couple of HP movies...I might see it in the theater if the wife's interested in going. Otherwise, I'll have pick it up on BR when it's released to keep the collection going.

This movie didn't do the book justice. What happened to the private sessions between Harry and Snape? Why was this film called the Half-Blood Prince if it didn't focus on it at all?

I have seen it and It was overall good. You can tell when the writers strike happened because the "feel" of the movie changes about half way through when they switched writers. But other than that great movie.

Ending could have been better though. :ss

Decent movie, but horrible adaptation. I thought they captured the scene w/ the horcrux exactly as the book portrayed it, though.

After reading all the reviews, I realized I forgot everything in the book. When did that come out? 5 years ago? Started re-reading the book tonight. Cant wait to see the movie.
