Seems like it would save the mods the trouble of having to move things if you could just post there to begin with :r

The new "Drama" forum reminds me of the "complaints" forum...and we all know what happened to that thread....

"Negative threads...they check in....BUT THEY DON'T CHECK OUT!"

I have been steering clear and not ruffling feathers or posting comments, becasue it just doesn;t matter over there.

Reminds me of the Howard Stern Show. Early on, his numbers were higher amongst people who HATED the show than with with people who considered themselves fans. Apparently, the haters kept tuning in just to hear what horrible thing he would say next...

Well we know what he did now here's what he should have done.

Allow everyone the oppertunity to just b!tch untill they were all b!tched out and tired.

Hell, the CS Clubhouse was perfect as only other Gorillas could read it anyway.

Why he would nix the clubhouse is beyond me and why he thinks it's a good idea to just try and hush people up is inexplicable for me.

Drama brings the trafic and that's what his advertisers want to see. If he had a brain he would have milked the drama for at least a few weeks. His Alexa rating would go up and his advertisers (who would never have seen most of the drama anyway) would be thrilled that they were getting their money's worth.

Cheers,
Rob

I so very reluctantly agree with you. ;)

Looking like its time that many will be bailing from that sinking ship.

Perhaps a good time to bring about a spirit of positivity here...instead of reminders of the down side of the overall community.

Possibly even a constitution of sorts of what CA and the mods will never become...to give everyone some reassurance about privacy and the sacredness of the "BOTL-ness" that gave rise to both CS and CA

I just cannot express my sadness with this situation...I've been only partially active for 2 years, but have frequently PMed Jon with unpaid advice that he sought after on how to run the show. He followed none of it, and treated all like ****. I'm patiently waiting to be banned based on a PM I sent him. Very sad indeed, especially coming from someone who fully supported him (I knew nothing of him as a person, or his other dealings).

There were so many ways to handle all of this and he picked the absolute worst of all options.

I'm really not all that sad about it if I'm to be honest.

We have CA, which I'm very happy to be a part of.

CS is gone,
Eventually pVff will be gone.
And as they say in my parts of the intertubes, nothing of value was lost.

You're missing the sentiment. A forum is only as great as it's users and all our treasured users are over here.

This is the internet, forums come and go, they don't really matter. What matters is the people that bring those boards to life.

So we don't have Louie, we'll come up with something better. So we don't have those posts? Ok, what good are they to a dead board like puff? Do you see where I'm going with this?

Cheers,
Rob

Those are necessary things. I agree with you there. Yes we have them and they are the most important. I'm talking about treasured things, like old memorabilia, and photos. When your house burns down, you're foremost concern is your family and finding a new home. We have a new home and most of the family is here, however we will never get back all of the sentimental things that remind us of the old days. All the pictures of the wedding, the kids growing up, the family reunions, and the old antique family heirlooms are gone. We have what is important, but a tear is still shed for the sentimental things.

Well, I'm with you on that one. I too shed a tear over the memories but everyone I made those memories with are over here and there's nothing stopping me from making new memories.

Finally, and this part is debatable, the price of admission to watch an asshat sink lots of cash into a complete failure of a board was Louie. I can photoshop a new picture of a Gorilla squeazing the life out of a fish if you'd like. That second part is partly humor but also carries some truth to it.

Cheers,
Rob

Edit: Remember fellow Gorillas, there is nothing on the old CS that can't be replicated to a huge degree over here. For those who are not b& from fish cove, why not go and backup your old posts and we can certainly put them here. As long as you are the one who made that post means that those are your words and you can repeat them till the sun goes down.

I will preface this post with the "No Drama Intended", but it may be ignored as previously demonstrated. I think that some of the long standing members would like to see some issues resolved and the questions have been posed with no response.

It seems as if some of the well respected members of this forum who have been around a long time have asked some pretty simple questions about how we can conduct discussions on this site about other well respected members.

The original question was moved to "Drama" and an explanation of keeping it to PM's was given.

A question asking for the answer to the first question being made public was also moved to "Drama" and still no answer to the original question.

If we are only going to be allowed to talk about certain topics, shouldn't we atleast be informed about why we aren't allowed to talk about the topics deemed too "dramatic" for this forum as to not upset the administration?

There was a time when public forums meant that public questions were answered by the administration for the betterment of the public members and of all those involved. Is it safe to assume that the new solution is to answer only public questions deemed appropriate by one, and not by general public?

That's true I kinda told him/them/puff FU on open boards but I said it nicely. Interestingly enough, I didn't get banned for that as I was on the boards for 2 more days.

I thought I was clever by asking him to sound out the word "Fugu" as in Puffer Fish. lulz.

apparently all opinions and questions criticizing Jon and the way he runs the site are "drama" and he doesn't have to answer to anyone. I mean technically he doesn't, but not the way I would run a business.

1. Courteous Criticisms

When critiquing a cigar, please do it in an adult, considerate and decent manner. Do not insult the manufacturer or simply state "it sucks" etc. Give a reason as to what you feel does not fit your profile or taste. Burn issues? Construction? Condition of the cigar? As part of the PUFF.com community your post are looked at by manufacturers and it can often give them a heads up about bad batches that made it past quality control. Try to be specific. Where did you purchase the cigar? What year? Things like this can really help other members too. Also, feel free to offer some positives about the cigar itself that you did like, this will inform the manufacturer about the things the consumers enjoy about the cigar. We can all learn a lot from each other here.

Haha, I can just picture the Fuentes sitting at their computer wearing out the refresh button waiting on our reviews.

I only wish I too could taste 7 year old burnt madagascar vanilla.

I wasn't trying to recruit for CA, but was telling a fellow Canuck that it was hard getting more people in for the Canadian Stogies Trade because people moved over to another forum. Possibly that was my reason for trouble. I had PMed a mod, who I trust greatly, to let him know that I was quite upset of some of the goings-on there (especially with Tom), and that he could look me up here, via my phone, or via my email.

Either way, complete BS. I have absolutely NO animosity towards Jon for commercializing the site. In my opinion, it was too big for one guy and a group of volunteers to run as a hobby...it needed someone who could take the reigns either as a hobby for the independently wealthy or as a profit-generating venture. I have no problem with either path. But Mr Caputo has truly alienated the community; a community which I think is much more tightly knit that he realizes and is likely constricting due to the economy.
